one of las smartest young voices says the la times…which the artist suspects, may just be a covert way of saying la is dumb. “open” mike eagle wouldnt terribly mind, being born and raised in chicago where the painful winters and his uppity grandparents kept him inside as a youth. he spent his formative years watching alternative music happen on mtv and hoping to one day be able to audition for the native tongues. as a young adult after graduating with a degree in psychology, he did the next best thing and moved to los angeles, joining the project blowed collective where he made music and toured with busdriver, aceyalone, abstract, nocando, and more. he has also gained notoriety in the world of comedy by being invited by professional funny people (paul f. tompkins, hannibal buress, matt besser/ucb) to rap at their shows. he would like to be raps kurt vonnegut but recognizes that he would first have to create something as iconic as the four-stroke illustration of an anus. he practices by releasing rap albums that delight, entertain, and confuse.

a twenty year break away from making music is almost unheard of especially within electronic music circles, but that is where antenna happy finds himself with pinto. clocking in at 9.09 pinto draws from psychedelia and techno set straight for the sun. this kaleidoscopic sonic excursion has all the makings of a cult classic, and heads up the debut 12- release on newly founded imprint reinhardt records. taking lead on the b-side an entirely different affair in the shape of fallen. this is benchmark electronic music, as arpeggiators take flight mirrored against hypnotic acid bass, for a journey into the outer house territories. closing the ep, spark holds the reigns. conceived within the same stretch as pinto, however it wasn t until some months later that spark took on its full form. emotive modular synths lay the groundwork, connecting the dots between low-slung techno and house music, culminating in a track that sits in neither genre camp. spark will appear on the digital release only. the ep title track takes its name and inspiration from paintings by antenna happy s three-year-old daughter, whose birth inspired him to return to making music. close-ups of these paintings can be seen in the artwork for the release.

sleeparchives influential minimalistic power in combination with the unique, endlessly evolving sound of mike parker, appear together for the first time on rptch04 split ep.
sleeparchive starts off on the a side, creating industrious textures with *fifth station* followed by two (endless) loops that lead to the a2 *white angel breadline*, a mesmerizing track with the classic sleeparchives timbre and brightness.
mike parker is responsible for one of the most recognizable sound of techno which is characterized by sublime, fluid atmospheres and never-ending hypnotic sequences. repitch recordings introduces him on the b-side with *flying nerves* and *lustrum*, leaving an indelible mark on the eleventh release of the italian berlin based label.

after few nolder, italian fellow lehar aka lorenzo esposito is the second new signing for connaisseur this year. apart from his residency at the cirq club in venice and regular bookings at some of the best clubs and parties in italy and malta, lehar truly is a very talented producer as well. some of you might have heard the free download for lehars remix of kollektiv turmstrasses classic *tristesse* which has caused some attention on him the past weeks and was therefore the perfect precursor for this release. his demo impressed us very much and both titles really hit our taste. and as though this wasn t enough, together with his demo he delivered a remix by his friend and probably hottest producer of the moment: mario basanov, head of the label boso and mostly know under his moniker ten walls.

across seven tracks of widescreen ambient music, 45 minutes of visuals shot over four years in multiple countries, seven photographs, and a multi-sensory, multiple channel live performance, willits has created something which might better be thought of as an experience than a simple album. opening features willits latest music since ancient future, his 2012 collaboration with japanese pianist ryuichi sakamoto, and his recent production and mastering work on tychos awake. the vibrant, enveloping sounds we have come to expect from him are on full display. the vinyl lp includes a download code.

tian gjevik (eod,cn), passionate and curious about electronic music, found in a trondheim thrift store a tape of the norwegian legendary project : the educational music -sports/tools-. he contacted one of the two composers called dildrian schrodinger. he has managed to negociate with him a deal for a vinyl license with weme records. we can find in this project ordered by the norwegian state all an experimentation work with electronic machines from the 1980 s. it is sometimes accompanied by a clumsy singing quite modern at that time.

new york endless is the first appearance on vinyl of new jersey born new yorker dan selzer. you may not have heard of him, but many of your favourite producers, bands and djs massively respect his record collection and ear. many of the sounds he has spent years exploring and djing can be heard via the three tracks that make up the strategies ep. elements of techno and house, idm, italo-disco and new wave, cosmic and kosmiche, krautrock and a certain debt to the new york school of minimalist composers all appear. the music is pure and (mostly) analog while still centred around accessible melodies and clean synthesized tones. golf channel every time!

ocoeurs latest album a parallel life finds franck zaragoza showcasing his adeptness at fusing thoughtfully crafted melodies with twitchingly syncopated techno. in a recent interview berlin music portal kultmucke introduced zaragoza something of an idm prodigy and while thats a fair summation due to his preference for malleable beatwork and his use of heavily processed field recordings there is more there than simple glitchery. zaragozas melodies, while often shrouded in hazes of static, affect the cinematic minimalism of modern composition. these such comparisons put him stylistically hovering somewhere between the likes of arovane and max richter which is no meager feat. a parallel life aches, breathes, pulsates and is forever churning. it has a subliminal soul that is all too often a casualty of electronic music of this style. the vinyl lp includes a download code.

teilstueck (german for part or segment) is the next excerpt of jacob stoys ongoing attempt to translate his surroundings into music. its his second ep for uncanny valley and is even more multifaceted than his debut redenswart from 2012

number 3 on ruff draft comes from louis guilliaume. having met louis back in 2009 and followed his music since way before then, it was an exciting day when we received these tracks from him. known more for his harder edge techno productions on labels such as soundtravels, bio rhythm holland, teng, sd holland and a remix on skudge, here he edges slightly away from that harder sound. the tracks vary from deep, groovy and meandering house to a beatless soundscape reminiscent of early larkin and pullen to a powerful kick drum driven sermon.

sardinian born, berlin based producer hubble is known to create implicitly ethereal moods. his way to keep people off guard as well as making a musical commitment through long excursion is unique to him. on this ep titles la rencontre (eg. meeting), he crosses paths with his romanian friend tulbure.

drew lustman is widely known for his work as faltydl but on 2000black we know him simply as drew. *put it out there* displays drews ability to take you on a musical journey within a club music track, whilst *a thorough study* takes a look at sonic emotion. the remix of *a thorough study* is by mr goodgood aka dego. strictly on wax for now.

demarzos sound is a meticulously crafted one. his toxic perfectionism and shrewd sense of rhythm lead him naturally to where he is today. his well-revised sets include anything from underground deep house to main room deep tech. after releases on hot creations, noir, glasgow underground or loulou records to name a few, arrives to sincopat with two secret weapons. holster is a cheeky but solid track which brings together groove and melody. analogue synths being added, it also presents changing voices all the way. for the remix, walker & royce take the deep way with a dry kick and sinister notes. pay attention to the astonishing breakdown. trigger is the second original track, in the same language than holster, and using some classic groovebox bullets. ramiro lopez, one of the sincopats golden boys, after his bedrock release, offers two fresh versions with different treatments.

yawn zen is la-based hip-hop producer ringgo anchetas debut album for stones throw. mndsgns psychedelic beats have already won him fans such as danny brown, who snapped him up to produce a track the lead track for his classic drug referencesrelease and bbc radio 1s benji b. dazed & confused described him as *one of the west coasts finest beat-smiths… each track is a patchwork of lush electronic samples blended together to create warm, sun-drenched little charmers.* on yawn zen, his debut for stones throw, mndsgn has carved himself an unusually calm-sounding place in the los angeles beat scene. the influence of labelmates madlib and j dilla on this on this collection of laid-back beats is never far off, but yawn zen has a psychedelic, jazzy flavour that equally recalls the likes of flying lotus, gonjasufi and samiyam. the vinyl lp includes a download code.

it feels like only a moment ago that we welcomed russian prodigy andrey pushkarev to the circus company fold with the gingo biloba 12inch, and after that refined exercise in stripped down dancefloor aesthetics its gives us great pleasure to bring him back in for another three-pronged demonstration of his considerable studio talent.

the 6th offering by public possession comes from our old friend anton klint. we have been playing records together for many years and he is for sure one of the best rock/disco djs we know. he has put out a few records together with his partner edvin edvinson as tiedye in the past, but this is his first ever solo production to be released. we are very happy that we could work with him on this one and are now able to present to you the spritzer ep.

something tells me this ones gonna be big. uzuri 020 comes from jitterbug, and its great to have him back. followers of the label will be very familiar with this producers work, even if they know very little about the man himself. im not going to shatter the mystique.

snuff trax celebrates magic record release number 010: happy jackin birthday! for this little anniversary we asked four great artists to rework chosen tracks from the labels back catalogue. leading us off, mr white (you know him from his collaboration with larry heard) made an edit of snuff crews *are you house*. followed by humandrone from tokyo remixing perseus traxx - *dont feel alone*. on the flipside you hear a remix treatment for raiders of the lost arp - *stealing my love* made by our man takeshi kouzuki of kobe/japan. and last but not least dimdj from thessaloniki created his own version of *galaxian journey* by elec pt.1.

a few trips in tel aviv made ivan smagghe aware of the extensive and more importantly, quasi forgotten, wave and pop scene from israel. blown away some of the tracks passed on to him, he and the ginger prince thought it would be a good start for the lddlm reissues series, edits and originals.
