after putting out a string of brilliant singles and ep s in the past few years, slavaki is up with his first artist album. it s hard to believe it s taken him 7 years since the first release, to come up with the idea of releasing a full-length. no wonder, tracks have gotten time-tested, and have been carefully selected out of over 10 continuous hours of material written in the period between the year 2011 and 2015. out on artist’s home label elusive at the beginning of 2016 on limited 2x12 inch vinyl. this album is another peek into slavakis ever-expanding chest of musical treasures that never seems to fail to surprise.

on a fishing trip two years ago, the two main guys behind africaine 808: d leyers and nomad - went to a tackle shop to buy some creepy crawlies (saltwater worms), not knowing that they were about to make a life changing discovery. in front of the shop a blind man was jammming on a little electronic organ, stomping his feet, singing, growling and basically making a scene. the boys were quite impressed with the fella, who introduced himself as blind double d . they offered to bring him home and record him. he turned the offer down, but offered instead that they could record him on the spot in front of the tackle shop - if they bought him a bottle of good bourbon. he explained that he would never set foot into a studio again in his life: he was sick of music production and the music industry in general, and that he just wanted this bottle of bourbon and to be left alone. the boys got him the bottle, and recorded blind d.d. on the spot with a tape recorder they borrowed from the tackle shop. unfortunately, the tape was stored in one of the tackle boxes over the trip, and some of the creepy crawlies crawled into the tape and stank it all up. this added some extra funk to the recording. with dirk and nomad s usual studio trickery and production skills, they created the two versions of this very very funky, creepy, stanky track. we hope you ll enjoy it as much as we do.

skam records are very proud to release an album of unheard tracks from one of our very first artists and it feels good to have him back home. jega has always provided his own slant on the genre, with warm standout melodies and his always edgy solid beats driving it all. its good to hear his machines working again after all these years. jega returns with a selection of the year before his seminal first release (ska006). a collection of unreleased tracks from 1995, recorded live to cassette tape and dat, and gathered 20 years later to form 1995. this album provides a glimpse into the fledgling electronic music scene of the 90s.

next up on karlovak is italian dj and producer santos. having released music since 1995 on labels such as crosstown rebels, desolate, ovum and bedrock, santos has an impressive string of releases in his back. we are thrilled welcoming him to karlovak with this 2x12 containing four house burners thats been road tested and approved by the label heads themselves, mr.tophat & art alfie, over the past year.

james barnsley makes a return to his vessel records imprint with two rhythmic numbers joined by laura jones and nightdrivers on remix duties. entering its fourth release, vessel records has seen a healthy launch with dj honesty, dj w!ld and label founder james barnsley kick-starting the discography. cutting his teeth at basics, where he spun records alongside the likes of chez damier, delano smith and josh wink, barnsley has long since built a reputation as a respectable name within the dj booth but it s his appearances on get physical, murmur and overall music that have placed him on the map as a reputable producer.

hailing from st petersburg in russia, kito jempere has been recognised by his peers and a wider global audience thanks to an impeccable serie of releases in recent years. it is no surprise neither that dairmount spotted him already in 2013 with his confusion ep on jimpster s freerange, followed by his objects album on his own fata morgana imprint & solid releases last year on dirt crew & let s play house. his tracks have been remixed by luminaries as nachtbraker, jacob korn, roberto rodriguez, hnny, juju & jordash, ooft or ruf dug.

tensnake makes a welcome return on wax with his first release of 2016 desire via his own imprint. on the a side, tensnake brings us a slow and low 112bpm dancefloor burner. written during a travel to a very warm and sandy place, desire is a dreamy groove with hazy vocals, airy guitar and exotic synths that will stick to you like glue. the flipside, fantasma, is a trippy acid disco number infused with oriental influences. flirting with balearic and psychedelia, this record sees tensnake going off the beaten path and sets the tone for what should be a great year in music for him and his label true romance.

celebrating our 20th release, glasgows dave clark returns to optimo trax as sparky. he was responsible for the third release on the label as luma which featured the club smash -john broadwood- and recently had another big club hit with signals- on numbers. we are delighted to welcome him back in what is a contunuation of a relationship that stretches back further than we care to remember. all four tracks here are certified dancefloor winners, from the reach for the lasers, kickless things fall apart through the synth rhapsodies of black swan and my prophet, climaxing in the jacking seven daggers. all killer, no filler is often a trite cliche in these blurbs but is entirely true in the case of this ep.

gari romalis and lello di franco - dreamin for the uninitiated, our man gary romalis is the unsung master of detroit’s house and techno scene. having djed across the motor city’s top venues for the last three decades, gary is somewhat of a seminal figure for many of detroit’s djs currently at the forefront. following a slew of high quality releases on various labels over the past few years, gary now unleashes that special flavour on us for skylax 142! he is not alone though. with him, he brings all round italian partymaker, and top selector in his own right, lello di franco. let me tell you, this duo’s collaboration is something to behold. throughout all 3 tracks on the record, gary and lello maintain the essence of what the detroit underground is all about, stripped back tracks with soul that never feel like they go ‘big’ for the sake of it. while dreamin (wanda mix) may be packing a big kick and power clap combo, it’s the elegantly filtered, jazzy sample that will leave you wishing that the track lasted forever. the vibe takes a dip right into the deep in detroit underground (beat dat mix). spacious pad synths alongside a mesmeric vocal carry us through. taking a step back up, afrobeat rounds off the ep, made with a solid toolkit of afro-centric samples.

zackey force funk was born into this wild world in tucson, az in 1974. in and out of prison since the age of 17, zff began producing on pirated software his brother gave to him once he had given up a life of crime to focus on writing tunes and raising his family. first discovered by kutmah back in the golden era of myspace, zackey’s signature “force funk sound” swiftly grabbed the attention of a number of formidable producers. as these tunes were scattered across various labels, finding their homes on their respective collaborator’s projects, zff continued to hone his style, delving deeper into the psychedelic future funk realm of which he has created for himself. the fruits of his discipline all add up to “electron don” hnr52 a 15-track collection of early productions that serves as the initial transmission of a fantastical mind that has many more stories to tell. “electron don” gathers together various unreleased and classic tracks recorded by zackey force funk circa 2009-2011 in tucson, az. included here are a treasure-trove of classic productions by the electron don himself, as well as tracks by luminaries salva, mike gao, lorn, jellphonic, cupp cave, crimekillz, mark lowe and paolo xz.
