in february of 1971, larry ray and bill szymczyk fled an earthquake and a debauched l.a. music scene to claim their own slice of utopia in denver, colorado. after meeting and bonding at abc-dunhill, where ray landed as general manager, and where szymczyk had breezed in from new york fresh off his first real hit as a burgeoning engineer/producer with bb kings. the thrill is gone theyd often daydreamed about starting their own label.
this reissue of the small batch of records which was at first released in 2015 now comes to the stores in this years fall. the record is the successor of the record bombtrap1 which is also called restless breed by chip tronic from 2004. * during the year 2014 the idea emerged to have these tracks remixed by musical friends, like minded artists were contacted by email or chat and samples were uploaded. during this process it became clear that it would be a better option not to do only remixes of the original tracks but instead to include tracks which have the same mood of the original which is industrial wonly dark techno, straightforward but quirky at the same time. * so the concept of doing a pure remix was enhanced to the upgrade idea. hence the number increased. apart from this maybe confusing history tree – it was a kind of freaky concept idea , but the label name can sometimes explains it – the resulting fruit which is this record contains 5 very different tunes. every record needs a kind of opener / hymn. the a1 is: flekk-botox_neoflekk. flekk takes the original robox neotech track and transforms it into a crispy blend between dutch electro , british wonky techno and french techno from the first zero years. the tune might have much cheese but this its character. bon appetit !

KUMO NO MUKO: A JOURNEY INTO 80S JAPANS AMBIENT AND SYNTH POP SOUND (2LP)
2x12" Vinyl UKPre sale
since so many european labels have been reissuing lost and obscure 1980s japanese ambient albums of late, it was probably inevitable that at least one label would put together a compilation paying tribute to the sound. it turns out that jazzy couscous has won the race with kumo no moko, a superb double album that does a terrific job in putting japan s 80s ambient scene in context. as you d expect, the majority of the tracks feature either dreamy electronic sounds or a mixture of acoustic and electronic instrumentation, with nods to jazz coming thick and fast. there are naturally a couple of fairly well-known names on show, but for the most part the compilers have done a terrific job in highlight lesser-known tracks from unsung heroes.

folklore series is the music label created by the folklore team, based in toulouse, france. active since 2009, we gradually diverged from traditional clubs in order to reconnect with a certain freedom and to assert our values by investing alternately abandoned places and warehouses for our parties. freedom that we also defend in our music while proposing a range of sounds derived just as well from the origins of disco’s, secret raves, or sound system culture.

with this fifth release, the moonrise hill guardians decided to deliver a vinyl conceived by half of them on the a-side and two friends they decided to invite on the b-side. the first side of the record is the more club oriented one, with two tracks from ethyène & folamour that sums well what made the early moonrise style, between smart soulful sampling to unstoppable groovy beats that will instantly make you burn a dancefloor. the second side starts with one of the two guests of this record, lb aka labat, with a house anthem that gathers all the detroit codes and an undeniable hip-hop influence. toshigi canopy has been asked to end the record, something that he did perfectly well with a more lo-fi track leaving you with a mysterious poetic taste that the moonrise hill guardians have always been defending.
