house heaven on 12-inch. a lofty description. but one that fits most excellent unlimited’s latest offering perfectly. in 1990. boy george and simon rogers (the fall) made a record called “generations of love” for george’s post-culture club project. jesus loves you. legendary nyc dj and producer bruce forest was one of several big names brought in to do a set of remixes. and the better days veteran got to work on several contrasting versions of the cut. the mixes heard here. done at london’s famed olympic studios. are slices of utter ecstasy for anyone who has a taste for ‘90s deep house euphoria and ambient dancefloor excursions. but were unfortunately lost amongst the countless alternate mixes. suffice to say. meu is taking matters into our own hands and has remastered and properly packaged these tracks. directly sourced from forest himself. with the full intention to give this erstwhile dollar-record the respect it deserves. the jazz mix opens with a winding piano solo by andy whitmore (spandau ballet. terence trent d’arby. soul ii soul) that lures the listener into a hypnotic groove that could quite comfortably go on forever but here is constrained by our modesty and the 12-inch format. (a tip for the adventurous dj: flipped to 33rpm the tune becomes an epic balearic chugger. a late-night psylocibic alternative for the heads.) the synth-heavy sounds of the ambient mix on the flip side harken back to the chill-out rooms of the ‘90s but twenty-some years later bring the best kind of vintage charm.

new to the naar stable. in:state & giuli make their debut in stunning style.visitoz is a straight forward techno affair. as bumping as it is surprising. using a deceptively simple gated arp and horn to dazzlingly complex effect. the track is potentially the most peak time naar has gone yet. and it s an incredibly welcome addition to their canon. on remix duty lauer takes a hold of the main arpeggio and turns it monstrous in the style of liasions dangeruese. yet balances this with his trademark lightness of touch and his ear for a heart wrenching synth line. creating an instant classic that feels like it was beamed straight in from 1986. -plus 1- has been sent from a parallel dimension where the evolution of music took a turn so different that proto garage stands where proto house should be. the track has the step and swagger of the most compelling end of the 2 step movement. but balances that with the surprising naivete and earnestness found in italo. ebm and early forays from chicago. finishing things off. lizards return to the label for a welcome encore following last years success with their 1st release.tanni.

kosmoramadisco vol. 1 is the first of a series of compilations that kosmoramadisco label wants to release from this year to the near future. the vol. 1 shows a sampler of few of the first tracks produced by different electronic artists. the label presents a wide range of electronic styles all with a spaceship common ground. from italo to dark disco and slow mo all wrapped in club dancing format.
this split lp compiles the output of two closely related bands from. as suggested by the title. the hot. humid and (at the time) socially isolated city of brisbane. australia – an unlikely location for synth-pop and new wave music during the 1980s. prod & the moonbaby were a high school duo experimenting with tape loops. cheap electronics and primitive sampling.. the result is certainly lo-fi. light-hearted and naive. but also charming and the music belies the young age of the musicians. ash in october was in many ways a logical progression of prod & the moonbaby and shared some of the same personnel. but also added some new wave influence through extra instrumentation and more serious. considered lyrics. most of these tracks have never been heard before outside a handful of self-distributed tapes and this compilation was compiled over several years by the artists in collaboration with hysteric and nick mariano (crispy nuggets).
temperatures are dropping and we re all feeling the effects. bordello a parigi is letting the cold winds of the north swirl inside its doors with russia s volta cab bringing a fresh 2lp to the table. a spread of influences come together for the eleven tracks of rise again. take -emerald s phantasy-. a piece built on layers of percussion that blends elements of disco with notes of techno. -dark room- is a different affair. arctic chords are cut with electro and distant vocals for an unsettling treat. -kruger- stomps to a terse beat before lush pads bloom in a work that builds to dizzying peaks. warm blasts balance these colder moments. the rich grooves of -savage fury-. the floor filling funk of -board scandinavia- and the removed romance of -sweet exorcist- all show another shade to the volta cab sound and of course there s more. rise again is an audio collection of vibrant colours and hues. tracks pitch from icy blues to autumnal ambers and fiery reds. a musical kaleidoscope that stretches across a spectrum of styles.
he s back. discotronic doyen around7 returns to robsoul with three more pearly parisian jams that range from warm filtered soul to cheeky b-boy rave. we kick off with the woman behind me . a great mood-setter with a stately jack. it unfolds with a walking bassline and a sweetly filtered sample that opens up with wide flourishes on the peak.it s backed by the broken funk of u talkin to me . loopy. leftfield and prone to drop into sudden acid house switch. this will stop the talking and get everyone listening. finally we have philter . a certified hypnotiser with insistent rolling kicks. a swinging piano sample and wavey vocal loop. it s another instant lockdown from one of the most understated and class-a parisian groove sculptors we know. warm and bumping. just how we like it.... it s looking like 2018 could be another fine year for robsoul.

a true holy grail from the cloud one catalog. dont let my rainbow pass me by is the third of a string of titles on golden flamingo produced by the p&p duo of patrick adams and peter brown and featuring vocals from guardian angel singer margot williams. similar to previous cloud ones productions. this record had all the elements of a patrick adams classic. but with vocal arrangements that foreshadowed the work he would do with inner life and jocelyn brown at salsoul. perhaps not so much of a concidence then that margot williams would provide backing vocals on inner lifes second and final album. even though it was originally released in 1981. dont let my rainbow pass me by is still championed by high-profile deejays today. over the years. its been notably sampled in basement jaxxs romeo and covered by todd terje and prins thomas in reinbagan as a dub-disco cut. available for the first time since its original release. our only piece of advise is to don’t let this classic pass you by.
this has always been a rare 12inch originally only released in the uk in 1979. phoenix was considered to be too disco at the time and the release pretty much sank without trace - one reason why finding those original uk 12inches is near on impossible these days. just 2 copies on discogs and a mint one will be circa £50 if you re ever lucky enough to find one. however. since 1979 phoenix has grown in stature and what was once considered to be a twee disco tune has now become a huge collector s item and a staple in the right clubs. no surprise really as this is norman connors at the top of his game and the production is red-hot. how phoenix never made it to 12inch vinyl in the u.s. is one of the great mysteries of life but here it is on beautiful fresh 12inch vinyl some 38 years later. as with all our 12inch re-issues we ve replicated the original label. luckily there are no bootlegs to contend with on this release. so this is the first re-issue of this song since the original release date. so order with confidence

hemingway s debut ep on cosmic resonance records is a musical memoir. the sounds you’ll hear are drawn from projects created as far back as 2011 and as recently as 2017. the music has evolved over the years. from yacht-funk playfulness to the exploration of cosmic jazz. one constant throughout. though. has been a reverence and love for the dance floor and dance music culture. to bring this broad spectrum of musical creativity together. hemingway enlisted the help of his longtime friend (and now label-mate). chris evans. to weave improvised guitar unicorns (guitarnicorns) throughout. the result is an album that fuses jazz. funk. disco. balearica. pysch-rock and amazonian spirituality into a cosmically resonant vibe.

it s been a while since marcello giordani last release. now the man who powerfully relaunch the italo sound in 2008 with the acclaimed blog italo deviance is back on the scene after 2 years of hard work and research into the deepest and obscure italo sound. this 6 tracks lp travel through again into the unique sound of the early 80 s italo disco built with spacey analog sounds. some cheesy atmospheres and a touch of primitive trance chords. marcello s taste is very clear and specific when we speak about electronic disco and this lp is totally inspired by artists like farina/rago. sangy. alexander robotnick. alessandro novaga. doris norton and also from his experience collecting and playing this shit during the last 20 years.
if you want to give a name to the style of this lp. call it -organic italo-.

a little over six years ago. let s play house because. in earnest. with a 12-inch called indoor pool. fittingly. the track it revolved around was by runaway. the duo comprised of marcos cabral and jacques renault. and featured remixes by some tight friends of the imprint. beautiful swimmers. slow hands. and soft rocks. we thought it d be fun to celebrate our birthday for once. but not with something too obvious (e.g. a compilation) or too involved (e.g. a warehouse party blowout). what we came up with is this. a 10-inch that reflects a little of the past into the present. appropriately. it includes edits by two of the artists on that debut ep. runaway s is a dusted-off and remixed secret weapon from the act s early days while soft rock s is classic soft rocks. albeit from a more current vintage (it was recorded this year). both absolutely rock. a little twisted. a little tilted. a little tipsy. but. as always. tight and tidy. funny how. since 2009. everything has changed and nothing has changed at all for this label of ours.
the original. the inspirational. the bombastic. the never bettered. the one. don t make me wait is all of the above and so much more. classic to the core. huge earth shattering record right here. ok. so the scoop. for the uninitiated is this - the peech boys were larry levan s group. we re talking early 80 s nyc here. 1982 to be precise. around the height of the paradise garage as larry was making the transition from superstar dj to producer. he brought a sparse. dubbed out. narcotic late night feel to the overall sound of this record. this was a short-lived project. but the influence is still felt today. the peech boys dna is inside the veins of modern dance music. as is larry s. there is no underestimating what an impact this record had. 7+ minutes of electronic bliss. trailblazing stuff. and don t get us started on the dub. do yourself a favour. buy this classic if you don t own it already. you ll keep coming back to it time and time again. guaranteed. this essential 12inch is repressed here in it s original 1979 glory. an essential classic that has stood the test of time for the last 30+ years & is now available again. remastered & repressed for 2017 in conjunction with west end records. nyc.

this is the second release from athens isigude records and features 2 fresh. respectful mixes of the track “bar reckless”. the lyrics recall a dialogue between her and a monk whom she met at the bar and asked “what are you doing here old man? this is no place for a saint to be”. on remixing duties we have rising greek producer zaq who takes the greek folk epirotic rhythm deep into a truly aegean balearic beat on the a-side while on the flip side he brings some dubby acidic beats.
