mit mr. computer huldigen zwei aushängeschilder der niederländischen elektronik der stimme der elektro-disco, dem vocoder. figi und luca dell orso haben sich zusammengetan, um ein werkzeug zu preisen, das genres und stile durchdrungen hat, und dem kleinen metallkehlkopf auf ihrem eigenen drei-track-theater das verdiente rampenlicht zu geben. wummernde bässe werden im titelstück von knackigen snaps durchschossen, trällernde vocals erheben sich, während die keys in dieser wunderbaren zusammenarbeit tanzen. die produktion der 12- ist wunderbar sauber und scharf, so dass der satte analoge sound und die roboterhaften texte voll zur geltung kommen. natürlich sind diese texte, wie auch der vocoder, nur einen hauch bittersüß. diese grüblerische qualität wird von luca dell orso in „fire with fire“ voll zur geltung gebracht. einer kühnen und gewagten melodie steht eine von trauer geprägte geschichte gegenüber, wobei die helligkeit und das eintauchen der synthesizer durch die gefilterte und gebrochene menschliche stimme kontrastiert wird. im finale fliegt figi solo. „moonlight (vocoder version)“ taucht die worte in einen dicken mechanischen sirup, eine geschichte über brennende liebe, die zu mondstrahlspülungen und sich krümmenden discotakten vorgetragen wird. eine wahre feier von mensch und maschine.
