as the instruments of rapture series draws to a close, the penultimate release comes courtesy of one of our favourite producers, tornado wallace. >rainbow road< sees captain wallace take us on a star-bound, jazz-funk journey where time stands still and emotions run high. with the equally positive >dont hold back< and a revenge remix on the flip, this is a fitting build-up for the final instalment on the label.
part eight in the instruments of rapture series sees the anticipated release of the soul renegades deep n slow, fireside-funk jam, >darlin< (which is only a year overdue). the title track is reinforced by the uptempo, ballroom blazer >y all wont let me< with full fat remixes by the mighty faze action and the lincoln lecturer aka craig bratley.
evans above … its the mysterious mr evans with some uptempo feelgood fun-stuff. remixes in the shape of john dalys epic solar excursion and art of tones tightened up funk dub of dr. evans >final< track.
more ruff jamz from the 6th borough project bunker kicking off with the supa-dupa-slo-mo-soul cut, >slow down baby<, with chopped up strings and heroin-house bassline all present. the flip brings us >closer< to the edit and pitches us nearer the holy grail of tempos. >stratus quo< gives us tracky rhodes action on the intro and sends us a message in the music. number five is alive.
prolific croatian, ilija rudman steps up to bat for the 4th instalment in the instruments of rapture series. night people is a faithful nod to those early extended house versions that we all cherish so much. all vintage drum sounds, dubbed out vocals and classic warehouse piano. remixes come from the revenge who gets deep and dubby for his spaced out midnight mix and 6th borough project who get heavy on the rinse for their tracked out, jacked up love rub.
the second release from the revenges strictly limited label imprint instruments of rapture brings 6th borough project back to cement their edit credentials. clocking in at 98bpm, do it to the max is some heavyweight, slo mo, sleaze funk, which seems set to trouble the bassbins and double the dancefloor. the flip sees the long awaited vinyl release of their soaring disco diamond, just a memory which was previously only available on 6th borough projects ultra rare l.e.s.s. productions cd promo. the finale takes the revenge back to revisit 6th borough projects jisco music nugget planets for a stripped back special 12inch disco version.
