nutabe still traveling between sounds we like. dijon triathlon is the solo project of jose santamaria, who for the second reference of discos nutabe brings with him the synthetic and diminutive of house music. pandemia its an ep that returns to the early and mid-2000s, when the microhouse takes the worlds dance floor. three beautifully produced sound and impeccable cuts, where each element has a meticulous preparation and a single order. simple sounds that fill a full dijon triathlon style.

groove line records are proud to add to their 2015 releases of half-speed mastered re-issue singles with both the extended special disco version and instrumental version of earth wind & fire s 1976 funk bomb getaway gracing each side of a 180g 12” virgin vinyl disc. looking to gain on his groups critical and commercial success from the early 1970s ew&f s main man maurice white brought in the legendary charles stepney, who had tutored him at chicago s chess records in the 1960s, as the co-producer and arranger on their incredible 1976 album spirit, which opened up with the formidable funk track getaway. co-written by guitarist, vocalist and songwriter bernard “beloyd” taylor (s.o.u.l.) and songwriter peter corbelenky around the theme of escapism and self-fulfilment, the primal urgency of getaway was the ideal composition for white to record with ew&f. white felt the song s energy and positive, uplifting lyrics matched the attitude and ethos of his group perfectly. as a result ew&f created a funk gem both musically and lyrically perfect for the dance floor.

gdm (glaswegian dance music) pioneer - sparky (aka dave clark) is back on numbers. having spent the last year on lockdown in his luxurious garden studio we have finally managed to wrestle two tracks out of his ageing hands. signals is an all-new track, first heard on dave’s essential mix for bbc radio 1 (aired as part of jackmaster s made in glasgow), and now in the sets of ben ufo and jd twitch. signals is classic sparky, nailing that sweet spot between the proto-techno sounds of british synth pop and the dancefloor nous of the motor city. the flip is a snarling metal-bashing beast called tigress which comes direct from his archives. we ve been on at him to release this one for almost a decade and after playing a 192 mp3 at a pretty boisterous numbers x optimo party last summer, sparky finally relented. one day we ll convince sparky to let us release all the music sitting in his vaults but for now here are two gems from a man whose music has played a pivotal role in the history of numbers.

very few artists have influenced the sound of house and techno as much as roman flügel. having been active since the early 90s under various aliases, few have been revered so widely as a dj, live performer, producer, remixer, intellectual and record label owner. the record labels he helped found, ongaku, klang and playhouse, are pivotal imprints in the electronic music scene, and his ability to gracefully incorporate and master most styles of 4/4 has seen him create a range of genres from techno, house, electro, ambient, idm, downtempo, and acid house.

everyone is captured by his fresh-sounding, impelling techno - so are we from black brook limited and are glad to have him on our label - of course not without an extraordinary remixer: no less a figure than re:axis!

the maghreban is new to house music, and doesnt really listen to house music, which isnt necessarily a bad thing. he has worked extensively in other genres under other names. looking at house from these sideways perspectives perhaps gives him an interesting angle on it. these first two tracks sound a little vintage and there is much more of this stuff to come, all quite dancefloor orientated. early support from call super and gatto fritto and radio play from thristian on nts.

it gives us great please to present subb-an’s first solo release on 20/20 vision. since his joint release with adam shelton 4 years ago, we have been very keen to get him involved on a solo release and the time is now! since he arrived on the scene he has since gone on to become one of its biggest players, with a constantly jam-packed tour schedule and a loyal fan base. this is all down to his considered dj sets, and trademark groove & appeal that accompany all of his productions.

kiko navarro has released on some pretty impressive labels. nite grooves, third ear and even king street sounds to name a few! which makes us very excited to have him as part of plastik people. kiko delivers us some straight up dance floor house killers, first track, bates dance has infectious strings combined with moody drums & rhythms that are reminiscence of early point g sounds that came out on basic recordings back in the day, kiko then follows up with a groovy hip shaking track called camon yo! which will certainly move any floor.

were so excited to be the guys that get to deliver you this guys debut release. luca murgia has a sound all his own he really like tom toms, he likes spacey flourishes, and overall he likes to deliver tracks with mobile electroy grooves married to the stability of house. the thing that really makes him special to us is the naturalness of feeling he achieves in his productions he has a neatness to his grooves everything lines up so the body can move freely and the dancer be in a state of flow. all four tracks on this ep have real singularity of intent in their sounds and rhythms but vary dramatically in intensity.

after landing his malfunctioning px-4000 on the purple planet, captain dmx steps out of the smoldering cockpit. after barely setting foot on the dusty landscape, the captain is startled by deep thudding from over the hills. dragging his oxygen pack with one hand and his atomizer with the other, he sets off in search of the other-wordly din. over the hill his pupils adjust to the stroboscopic lightning and below him lies a sea of strange creatures moving together as one body. a cosmic sermon takes place under the three suns in the sky, mechanical and stuttered frequencies set a manic pace and drive the dark creatures back and forth. captain dmx sighs a heavy breath and starts to descend into the fray.

timmy p has been releasing music since 2010, but releases on esteemed labels such as local talk and dirt crew have really made him catch the attention of the wider public and industry big hitters such as steve lawler, darius syrossian, sidney charles and waze & odyssey. timmy now steps up to the plate for belfast s seven music. the strong advice ep is some of his finest work to date. from the disco infused title track, through the vibey slug life to the moodier bla bla and all rounded of by one of the uk s hottest new names on the scene, montel on the remix.

we were very excited indeed to see the third release from the quite promising love notes from brooklyn imprint! marco zenin was a featured artist on the last release under his dj octopus guise, and this time he s featured again with his other project, the more techy/ more minimal die roh, who recently had an underground athem with their release on black venison. the duo here seemingly lean their sounds in the direction of the label s and offer two-cut ep which is their deepest effort yet to date. surely more djs will play the dancier a side, behind 6000, but for us, the groovier b side and title track genghis kahn is the choice cut. label owner, nathaniel jay, continues in the precendent he s set with each release having its own unique love note,authored by him, making every one of these records collectable.

good ratio music looks deep into the brume and strikes gold with the first ep from carlo on the imprint. forget me not is a record that plays directly into one of the strengths of the artist: melting a coherent whole from ephemeral parts. carlo keeps it rather fiercely on the house grooves, creating a far out sound with his fluent pulse and motif-based melodic improvisations. a unique sound that makes this three tracker remain to him at any spot. on the flip side kresy delivers a solid remix of the main track, forget me not. where he tames the wild things and crowns himself as their king.

somewhere in between de la soul, max graef and terrence parker lives georgi barrel. this mini album is a musical paradigm representing our definition of 2015 club music. infos about artist & record georgi barrel is a highly creative genius producer from kassel, germany. in 2014 we first time took notice of him – and were instantly excited. his highly distinctive, very relaxed and boogie-influenced style is pure joy. from wonky de-la-soul-grooves up to smashing ugly-drums like disco edits: on this album georgi is traveling through the undiscovered no mans land between house, hiphop and disco – the result is a masterpiece that definitely holds a candle to glenn astros throwback or max graef’s rivers of the red planet.

contra communem opinionem shortly cco, own name florin büchel is the pure acid lover from zürich. he has debuted on mathematics records in 2008 and since then he has been quite active with several releases on lux records and few other brands. there is a strong analogue character in his music based on 808 or 707 beats seasoned with melancholic pads, melodies and already mentioned acid lines. he is also involved in savage ground project formed by him and daniel cosmo. this is “space race” from melodic electro through overdrive madness to drone beats. it comes with remix from man behind endless illusion, layup.

isoees long and celebrated discography has taken him from seminal microhouse compositions, through lush, deep and dubby productions, to the melodically rich sound design of 2013 mindblowing allowance. any of this would be a tough act to follow, but the seasoned hamburg talent takes it in his stride once again, looking firmly towards the future while paying tribute to all chapters of the past with the brand new two-tracker, floripa ep.

after last autumn’s ‘knowledge ep’, héctor oaks returns to key vinyl with four more solid dancefloor fillers of the kind we’re starting to expect from the berlin-based upstart. now several records deep and with his fourth berghain set firmly behind him, these days his sound is about as honed and gratifying as skills from the booth. and ‘kepler 186f’ is the proof.
on the a-side “dissolve” sets its sinews to march on this taut, tough and punchy number. “radial clicles” then reins in the muscle a bit in favour of a more skulking, spectral slow-build. meanwhile on the b-side, “stone storage” sends cool cymbals and crunchy hats on a sinuous, calculated romp. leaving “avoid reality” to close in noisy, bombastic fashion. but watch out—this one’s a bit of a tease.

its been just over a year since we brought you the fantastic ‘inner activist’ ep from our brother chris. crazy right? the fact that all three tracks became mainstays for many over the past twelve months is testament, yet again, to the talent of mr. carrier. we never leave home without him. magic gallery sees chris displaying yet more his own musical sorcery. opening with the soulful tones of fantasy faces we’re soon thrust into the serious drum workout of stories. the choppy beats and sliced samples of warlock follow before the ep is closed, in the finest fashion, by the spellbinding title track itself. another strong and essential collection of house tools from chris carrier.

over the last 12 years, kel mckeown, or kelpe, has carved himself a unique perch in the uk s electronic underground. across several full-lengths, eps and remix projects, his misfit electronica has managed to cohere a staggeringly deep spectrum of influence along the way. a natural son and heir to generation warp and the fathers of krautrock, his pioneering experiments in the early 00s also positioned him as one of many stylistic precursors to the arrival of la s now-sprawling beat scene. much like scene-savants prefuse 73 and dimlite, kelpe has remained an enormously respected stalwart of the fringes, always dabbling variously in sampleheavy beat-craft, oddball ambient, and more recently dancefloor-ready club grub.

for it’s 16th (!!!) release, dixon avenue basement jams continues to bolster it’s local infantry with fresh, new blood, this time with the addition of a young but well-seasoned individual hailing from the hinterland of greater glasgow and going by the name of big miz. if you happen to live within an 8 mile radius of a blue lagoon, the chances are you will have already been acquainted with the bold miz, most likely through the longstanding and legendary clubnight/crew he’s a resident & founding member of: offbeat. the length & breadth of offbeat’s tastes also reflects his flexibility as a producer. tracks presented here, such as “good thing” strike a fine balance between good ol’ motor city funk and chi-town oddities such as vincent floyd’s more obscure cuts on d.m, while the velocity increasing “solange” comes like the result of a three-day theo studio session fuelled by bad speed. his talent for catering to the dance has clearly paid dividends when it comes to his productions, with the nuance and instinctive touch he presents us with on his debut dabj 12” clearly marking him from the start line as an already formidable & stand-out force in the heady and increasingly cramped world of house & techno.

new to the stay underground it pays gang, the eighth release on the label comes from none other than octo octa! you know him from his prolific run on 100% silk, and more recently for his ep on gerd jansons running back label at the top of the year. the man from brooklyn serves up 4 slices of that u.s. experimental house sound we love so much. on the a side, we have two versions of octo octa’s melancholic title track, requiem for the body. both as good as the other, it’s gonna be split for a lot of listeners on which is better. while both versions share certain elements, the second plays down the long keys of the first versions in favour of some stabby chord patterns. either way, proper 4 a.m. business!on the flip, we get a bit more ethereal with times two (loose version). simple yet effective, this one has a lot of atmosphere with those delayed vocal cuts over that late 80s bassline. closing out the record is when home. this one is a bit of a stomper at first until it brings in the lighter synth elements halfway through. someone, somewhere will have an epiphany listening to this track. if its you reading this, send in the results on the back of a postcard. all in all, another killer release that feels straight at home in the stay underground it pays catalogue

january of 2016 will mark danny krivits 45th anniversary of djing. those decades have essentially spanned the entire arc of contemporary dance musics evolution and, as anyone whos heard him play will attest, danny does the same in his creative, far-reaching dj sets. what better way to mark a 45th anniversary than to release a 45rpm record? the latest offering from most excellent unlimited is a two-sided seven-inch that features danny touching up two percussive monsters that exemplify the down and dirty tribal vibe of the earliest, pre-disco dancefloors.

the second edition of the rose records limited 10- series comes courtesy of junktion, whose releases on the likes of outplay and slow town didn t only sell out at breakneck speed but also established him as one of holland s biggest talents in discerning deephouse/disco circles. junktion does what he does best on this delightful little platter. the lolloping running for whatever on the a is as infectious as they come, with loads of clever samples arranged over classy rolling drums and a deep, rubbery bassline. flip over for pale blue dot, a slightly tougher, trippier uptempo workout with spaced out pads, big drums, crisp hats and massive synth stabs that should whip up a real frenzy in a packed club. killer pair of tunes from a producer that s very much on top of his game.

electric minds began as a london based promotion outfit in 2007 before subsequently launching their label under the same name which is designed to act as a platform for their guests to showcase their productions. over the years they have amassed a lauded back catalogue of releases which has featured the likes of move d, endian, radio slave and mark e. now, in the follow up to their latest release from last magpie which featured trevino on remix duties they ready their next release from hypercolour mainstay shenoda. originally hailing from cambridge, shenoda is an artist who has astutely touched on many basis across a multifaceted back catalogue. releases on fear of flying, manmakemusic and hypercolour offshoot losing suki have seen him meld garage, house and techno whilst all the while keeping his eye firmly on the needs of the dancefloor.

the legendary incognito label presents gari romalis first us domestic release. gari s experiment exploded with rare dub beats and funky bass bottoms to create a sound that separate him front the field.

white asega co-­owner jack dixon wrote new curtains after a friend who was coming wildly off the rails told him he was a good producer but his tunes were boring. the original version was really sparse and about 300bpm. when jack moved to new york the parts got lost, so he remade the track a dozen times. this was the version we all liked best, although jack never wants to hear it again in his life. it sounds tough and tropical. our friend troy gunner remixed it, and turned it into something so loud and slamming it will knock your teeth out. after telling jack to stop making boring music, mark kodiak spent two horrendous years working with jamie kodiak on a song they ve called taargus. it nearly destroyed their friendship forever but we think it was worth it. it has brutal weapon sounds, nasty snares and an incessant “yo” that has been described as “annoying and unnecessary”. the artist tom pounder has created a blinding video for it that contains brand new colours. french born bass genius bambounou stepped up to remix the track, taming the wild stems into a hypnotic early­morning house stepper. it took us approximately 2000 exhausting facebook group chats, four cross­atlantic flights and one divorce to get to this point. we hope you will enjoy this record for the rest of your lives. rip ken tulley.

yoruba records is proud to present this four-track ep from label newcomer myles bigelow. having honed his craft as a graduate of the berklee college of music, myles is known for releases on his own imprint deep culture music and we’re excited to have him bring his blend of latin, jazz, and tropical rhythms to the yoruba family. the opening track, afro banger, as the title suggests is a dance floor ready afro-inspired ballad. the captivating combination of percussion, rolling bass and clever synth stabs in this track demand peak hour airtime. house rocka is yet another floor-ready tune. with its fat, punching bass and smooth conga –laden beat this track will keep a floor moving at any hour. the b-side of this release opens with spiritual awakening. seemingly led by steel drums and gentle guitar arpeggios, the introduction of a warm bass line takes this groove in a hypnotic direction. finally the title track of this release, turning pages opens up with a smooth string bass line perfect for setting the mood a little deeper. the sensual vocals and subtle yet underlying funk-inspired guitar melody make this groove suitable for dance floors, cars, and home stereos alike.
