the music has come into my life when i was about 9 years old. thanks to one of my sisters tape with songs by bob marley and the wailers. so i switched from reggae to dub. from dub to jazz. from jazz to radical improvisation in a moment.now i m 33. and after producing pretty much any kind of music. i want to put together what i still like of dub music with that of the south of europe. which is the place where i grew up. melting everything together with vintage equipments and working with modern machines at the same time. playing and producing this music has been therapeutic for my head. making all this known is for me like seeding again the love for music without any distinction. andrea gabriele 1981 - 2015
compost / great new album by alex attias of mustang. beatless & catalyst fame. feat. colonel red. bembe segue. mark de clive lowe. sweet abraham. jessica lauren. del. vanessa freeman. from new orleans blues to techno. from hip hop to broken beat.
repress 2016 ...linkwood gives us whats up with the underground? hot. urgent. joyous jazz/house music thats guaranteed to ignite any dancefloor be warned. spontaneous human combustion is a real risk when this record hits. fudge fingas drops the heavyweight ‘escape. with samples from cult tv series ‘the prisoner. huge synth lines and beats like vintage glenn underground this is definitely odd house music turn it up! the complainers bacon rolls is bizarre funk from somewhere else entirely if chris cunningham made a porno flick then this would be the soundtrack. plus theres extra sickness from whats up with the beats? (rather than a mere dub. this is almost an entirely different jump-up disco track) and a bonus firecracker skit.
wade from hello records called mr. pc “detroit’s hardest working dj” about a year back. and the fruits of his labor shine through on this curious beatdown and jazz funk re-edit record. in his own words. “the scene doesn’t need another hand-stamped and numbered vinyl-only disco edit label. so i went ahead and took the proverbial razor and tape to some jazz-fusion-disco-not-disco tracks that influenced me coming up as a bass player. now fully capable for dj dance floor elevation.”
limited to 450 hand-stamped and numbered copies.
the musical connection between berlin and detroit has always been a very strong and inspring one. jazzanova continues this close dialogue by putting mike huckaby in charge of remixing their latest song i human. huckaby is one of the unsung heroes of detroit techno. with his highly acclaimed deep house productions and remixes for deepchord. juan atkins. vladislav delay. pole. loco dice. losoul. and pacou. (just to name a few) he is more than well respected in the citys underground community and way beyond. his remix for jazzanovas latest track (off the brilliant album funkhaus studio sessions) split into two pieces on this 10inch. is a belter by all means. if you wouldnt know better.youd mistake it for a larry heard/mr. fingers production. still huckaby is putting his very own distinctive touch to this rework: a groovy rhythm section is added for extra emphasis on the dancefloor.and as the track builds we find ourselves in deep house heaven screaming for more. you better order two copies of this limited 10inch. in order to seamlessly mix part 1 intopart 2 - or vice versa
