after numerous features and collaborations obenewa, kaidi tatham and dego combine together to form blacks & blues.three song based dance tracks to fill the void of underground vocal club music. spin is flavoured with s.a house & afrobeatz whilst obenewa sings about the wonder that is love. you know the feeling moves towards the funk that is synonymous with 2000black and dont know why (chant for love) is purely the marriage between reggae and jazz.

marvin jupiter is an 18 year old artist who mainly makes hip-hop music, using bass lines as rhythms more associated with funk. he uses and creates the sound of the modern day interpretation of trap adding his own personal twist. reach is a rendition of the typical house genre including rhythms sampled from south american cultures, using current sounds from the trap genre even having a small section of a trap/hip-hop beat towards the end of the song. on the b-side you can hear the boogie & funk through a dego & lord remix

2000black switches up the funk flow on 2035black with a release from our dear friend dominic stanton aka sonars ghost.

drew lustman is widely known for his work as faltydl but on 2000black we know him simply as drew. *put it out there* displays drews ability to take you on a musical journey within a club music track, whilst *a thorough study* takes a look at sonic emotion. the remix of *a thorough study* is by mr goodgood aka dego. strictly on wax for now.

last spotted together on the cut some three years ago with their eponymous debut lp, the crew like kaidi tatham, akwasi mensah, matt lord, and dego ‘ranks’ mcfarlane reunite for this fresh 2000black 12&#8243,,,,,. off the christmas card list is apparently a precursor to a second album from the quartet and it’s the last 12&#8243,,,,, in a fine year for 2000black that saw the killer dego lp as the centrepiece. the a-side is dedicated to the title cut, an endlessly slinky boogie number that really showcases the collective musicality of this crew, whilst the b-side is split between “hurry whilst they are away” and “fila high”. the former is bugged out beat down west london-style, and the latter a killer latin-flecked cut.

this is a very proud moment for me. when i started 2000black i wanted to release music that was of today respecting the past and looking towards the future. timeless sounds regardless of genre or tempo. *fresh fromage* is that track - dego
