it has been four long years since noahs last album, blind alignments, was released here on thoughtless, and much has happened since: extensive tour dates, numerous singles and collaborations, a lingering break-up, a move across the atlantic, 80 releases here on preds thoughtless imprint, tests of new music technology, and the sudden death of his father, all this and more transpired as his latest full-length effort, third culture, took shape. traversing these highs and lows, the result breaks new ground for pred, building on the dub-inflected techno and house that fills his discography, yet reaching far beyond anything we have heard from him before.

optimo trax is an offshoot label of optimo music for tracks aimed at djs/dancefloors. yes, we know there are too many record labels already, but we felt an overriding desire to start another one as so much music that didnt seem quite right for optimo music (i.e. music that was specifically designed for dancing) kept coming our way. like the parent label, optimo trax will release music by new artists and excavate forgotten classics. luma is a project by dave clark from glasgow. dave had his first release as a member of state of flux in 1993 on t&b vinyl, the label twitch ran with his dj partner of that era, brainstorm. twitch and dave have continued to work together in various ways ever since. he has released records as truffle club, and as big ned on optimo music as well as working with twitch from 2005 - 2010 remixing a plethora of artists under the optimo (espacio) moniker before fatherhood necessitated him focusing on changing nappies rather than programming synths. dave has also recorded under various aliases for r&s, numbers, stuffrecords, dissident and wireblock. the twentieth anniversary of that first release seemed a fitting date for dave to unleash his monster new club music alter ego, luma on optimo trax. twitch thinks dave is the best producer in scotland and endlessly weeps into his gin and tonics about how unprolific dave is, so was ecstatic when the 4 killer tracks were delivered that make up this third optimo trax ep. these have been thoroughly road tested over the last few months at gigs around the world.

alessandro di maria aka sossa is surely one of the highest representatives in the italian underground scene. house music is his true inspiration, which has leaded him to be one of most continuous and prolific artists in the european scene. his new ep release comes on polluted records with a 4 track vinyl related to his new sound and production style. polluted is extremely proud to present his project with a sound collaboration between sossa and man & henry on bass line and percussions.

a word from label boss chris farrell: this is the new one on idle hands, from us producer strategy. i first came across paul dickows work when he released a 12 inch called *world house* on his own community library label back in 2005. it blew me away. in the ensuing years my friend duncan george who promoted bristol’s best electronic music night - under_score tried on numerous ocasions to book him for a bristol date but it never quite hapened due to the usual things that go wrong in club land. in those years duncan kept in touch with paul and last year suggested to him that it might be worth sending some tracks to me, which he did at the start of 2013… add a peverelist remix and you have the tracks here before you, dub reggae informed house and psychedelic 2 step vibes.

femen is the second ep from hound scales on fifth wall, the brooklyn imprint he runs with divvorce. a dedication to the powerful women that have sculpted his life, the release sees the artist setting out to create the story of their impact on him by distilling these and other major influences into a techno format. the result is two originals blending amen-style jungle rhythms with collapsed industrial squeals, each with its own sense of beauty clawing upwards towards the surface.on the remix front, japanese producer and 10 label head honcho yuji kondo delivers an incredibly complex, layered interpretation of *a clique of tough women*, while mira and opal tapes affiliate bleaching agent pits the elegiac chords of the original *throated* against a repeated, mangled vocal motif, imbuing the remix with nostalgia while remaining an effective dancefloor instrument.

what we feel for max graef might just be our biggest man-crush ever. we came across his music through his own label box aus holz and were just as stoked as he is to have him as our second release.

since day one, radiq has been showing an affinity for the afro-centric funkiness and carefully-honed sound design of modern days minimal music. as in many of his previous tracks, all six songs of >vida noir< has this certain kind of unyielding quality - long, hypnotic grooves with muted kick drum set the stage for more emancipated experiments in texture and sound design. on >a long hot summer break<, for example, the effect is utterly obvious as kicking its ass into gear with syncopated drums and strain of warm chords before animated vocal sample slips in like fingerprint. while deeply seductive interplay of those chugging percussion gives way to delighted horn of >a-dieu<, warm chord and acoustic guitar of >calling< is perfect example for radiq’s masterful sound and texture. >machine codes modified< has rather restrained structure for him, but tightly woven drums speaks eloquently about its carefully arranged funkiness and dance floor functionality. despite their repetitiveness, its surprising how well these productions forming cohesive solidarity as an album. presumably, it owes a lot to wide tonal vocabulary which is radiqs hallmark - these tracks has something concentrated, vivid qualities. this album sits just at the edge of the dance floor, but also performs its exceptional strength on intense home listening. dusky synth and truncated surge of bass of >vida noir< constructing something dark, before closing this album with modulated afro-acoustic guitar and deep falsetto voice (by the producer himself) of >rondo<. this album offers up an engaging and comprehensive amalgamation from the inquisitive sound by the maestro

the >baumgartner< release marks the third solo ep by van bonn after his >maserung/schwerpunkt< and >onwards< on telrae in 2012. so it was high time for another solo release with him. his new track is again a timeless classic, gracefully flowing without much of an interruption, it is his most melodic release up until now. the track is nevertheless very much detached in style from what van bonn has released solo and together with stefan gubatz on telrae. the track is at ease and at the same time connects to a feeling of melancholy. marko fürstenberg wrote the remix on the flip side transforming the original into a tight and bass heavy dub track. marko breaks with the flow of the original and creates a much more rigorous dance flloor rocker that introduces one element after the other. this is not for the weak and for bass lovers only!

rondenion is a japanese dj and producer. his link with music started working as a recording artist in the late 90s. under the name hirofumi goto, his released his debut ep *ameria*. it drew attention for its dark atmosphere, and was played by international figures of the electronic scene such as derrick may. he changed his name to rondenion as a tribute to chicago and detroit. not so long later, he released his *love bound ep* on the respected rush hour records. it reached the top sales chart position on the rushhour store, and rondenion began to make himself known within the european scene. in 2012, he co-founded ragrange symphony, alongside no milk and kez ym. kicks kicks is a young graphist, dj and producer based in france. his passion for skateboarding lead him to discover all the 90s deep house/garage scene such as kerry chandler through skateboard videotapes. his debut set happened in bordeaux a few years ago alongside nicholas & larcier. he is an analog freak and started producing his first tracks in 2013 which will finally be out on cracki records.

the latest installment in deadbeat s infinity dubs series sees him submerging his rhythms deep into the echo chamber, offering up 2 solid state dubs with basslines so low only the largest systems will even register their presence. enlightenment through stoic repetition is the order of the day here, and deadbeat once again proves his unrivaled skills as a master hypnotist on both cuts. dont sleep.

finnish experimental electronic musician mika vainios first solo album for blast first sees him return to his classic power electronics/heavy beats approach that made pan sonic garner a worldwide reputation. the album developed from vainios recent live sets to make 10 tersely-titled tracks inspired by the shipping container industry.

cambridge resident samuel emerson iliffe, aka ill life, is driven by a penchant for warping things. akin to warping his sonorous surname into the ill life moniker, he warps formely innocuous techno fare into a clangorous, concussive march of living, breathing percussion. samuels sonics seemingly owe a considerable amount to recent innovations from the likes of blawan or perc trax alumni, however his only fault is taking part in the phenomenon of synchronous innovation. before karenn coalesced, before clouds newest offerings started being rinsed, ill life had long since moulded his sound. it is infinite machines infinite regret to have discovered him so belatedly. but there is no use crying over spilled trax.

last time we visited satta outside we have been blown away by the music of young lithuanian producer 96wrld who had a couple of singles with monday jazz and renegades of bump. we signed him right away and we are excited to finally share with the world his debut ep *private language* on 12 inch vinyl, limited to 300 copies. a collection of eight tunes that showcase 96wrld s potential as a producer and songwriter that embraces different composition styles, typically in a single tune. his arrangements are complex and give away all detail only on repeated listen. however, tracks like bruce willis can put any club to pieces easily ... test yourself.

liquid spirit marks gregory porters blue note records debut, which arrives on the heels of two critically acclaimed indie label albums that quickly propelled porter to the upper echelon of contemporary male jazz singers and earned him two grammy nominations. don was, president of blue note, encouraged porter to stay true to his artistic vision.
*i firmly consider myself a jazz singer but i enjoy blues, southern soul, and gospel,* porter says, *those elements make their way inside my music. and i ve always heard them in jazz.*

endless welcomes paolo tocci and russian techno dj andrey pushkarev, who is very popular with his audiences for his deep sound and signature sensitive melodic techno, in addition to his use of vinyl records from his extensive collection which he has been expanding for over 10 years. his recent ep on circus company captured the attention of many and in particular of luca bacchetti who then included him on the tracklisting of the recent arkitekt 02. paolo tocci, talented italian dj from catanzaro, has been responsible for many parties in calabria, one of the most beautiful regions in the south of italy. now living in switzerland, he produces electronic music surrounded by the natural beauty and suggestive landscapes of canton ticino. endless 004 has a romantic feel to it and features these 2 deep house gems to celebrate the end of summer.

stephan schindler aka kryptic universe aka lockertmatik is a german electronic music producer with a preference for analogue gear. he has a distinct 90s techno and house sound signature without sounding dated or overnostalgic. after making waves on his own (vinyl only) lockertmatik imprint, he got full recognicition through his ep on shtum (uncanny valleys sublabel).
thank something for the interweb, otherwise we might have never been able to get in touch with this obscure talent. we are proud to introduce him in our roster with this fantastic ep, showcasing all of the above mentioned. midnight michigans detroit inspired machine funk, woodbridge st. tearjerking acid bassline & strings and, last but not least, the ridermans fierce analogue bassline and fearless drum programming brighten the catalogue of wolfskuil ltd in many, beautiful ways.

without a label since 1978, joe cocker signed to island records in 1981.chris blackwell (head of island) took him to the bahamas, where he recorded a 12 inch single, >sweet little woman / look what you ve done<, and continued working on a full length album: sheffield steel. the result was a successful album, which put cockers name back on the map.

rising british producer brett jacobs drops the mutra ep via londons act natural imprint this july. brett jacobs has been plugging away on the underground circuit for several years now, with recent releases for luna records pushing him further into the limelight

the most people know his snork enterprises releases under his alias laufmasche, the *deep lay e.p.*, the *foreign funk* release or the *talk like a fool* 12 inch. he also hit the streets with his tracks for relax2000 records or hamburg based eminor, and played dj or live sets from frankfurt, kassel, berlin, hamburg all over germany or also up to peking which was really a special experience for him. now he is back on snork enterprises, the first time with his alter ego samuel fach! get freaked!

the ambassador of the bat, yes it is true, and the ambassador of german melodic techno music dominik eulberg is releasing, 8 months after *ein stuckchen urstoff*, a new ep on traum. fans of his music can anticipate another masterpiece of melodic music, which is based on him fiddling with sounds, acoustics… keeping up of what we refer to as the eulbergsche language. this time it seems to be even more exhilarated and driven by passion. does this make sense when you speak about someone who is considered to have great compositional skill? yes we think the liveliness shows up in greater chunks, and the crispiness of the ideas rise to a point which is exceptional and... for those who seek techno realism… it can be found here as well.

the next release on discovery recordings comes from catamaran, a young nyc based producer whos been coming to the parties and feeling the vibe. he sent us some really tite demos and we got in the studio to make them titer. the tracks are infused with the life of the city - from jackin house to lush rhodes grooves. we all love fort romeau, so we had him do a remix that takes the sound across the pond. 500 copies, hand stamped, vinyl only.

inviting waff to play a couple of paradise gigs last year, jamie jones and co. are holding on to their wonderboy making him a resident at the night this season as well as bagging these essential new cuts for hot trax.

dubspeeka is a relatively new name on the house music circuit but has entered it with an impact. his unique take on house music has given him an edge over other producers. releasing most of his own music on his label skeleton. he has worked relentlessly hard to create a name for himself and build his label as a brand and outlet for all his musical endeavours what, has given dubspeeka leverage to have acts such as glimpse and pierre deutschmann feature on his label

three years ago, baths dropped his startlingly beautiful debut, cerulean. released on anticon, the record blurred the line between post-modern pop and the la beat scene with devastating emotional clarity. its tone was as celestial as its album title, taken from a shade of blue typically used to describe the sky.
cerulean earned year-end best-of recognition from pitchfork and the onions a.v. club and established chatsworth-raised will wiesenfeld as one of the finest young composers (and falsettos) in los angeles. his sophomore album, obsidian, finds him emerging as one of the most complete artists of his generation. as you might expect, the name hints at darker overtones. the mood is shimmering and pitch-black, the lovely blood flow has turned into lava.

the uk producer is joined by some famous friends on a surprising journey. watch the ants, paul whites forthcoming ep, is sure to further solidify his reputation as one of the most innovative producers in hip-hop and beyond. the south londoner is joined by the motley crew of trim, sean price, homeboy sandman and rap superstar-in-waiting danny brown, who recruited paul to produce nearly half his forthcoming album old and cited him as *my fav producer to work with*.

following the success of the consumer ep by fellow label owner james johnston comes the praise ep by alex agore, and its a true return to form for him on no matter what. the record opens with the title track >praise< - an inspired tribute to gospel music, keeping all the soul but reimagining it into something more infectious. uplifting keys combine with vocals that will have you trying your best to sing-a-long, over a bass groove that holds it all together. >falling< is a slower affair, with its dream-like chords, airy synthwork, cowbell hits and seamless hats. a perfect track to start a night or to end one. the b-side completes the package with two undeniable house jams. you will soon realise how much you like >theres no love< when its skippy vocal is stuck in your head, hours after hearing it for the first time. >i can feel you< closes out the ep on a deeper note which will have you thinking of moments when the sun is about to rise, yet the night is far from over.

the fifth w&o street tracks release sees label bosses waze & odyssey open up their sizeable discography to two of their newest signings in squarehead and chamboche, who both remix early cut ride my junk. sheffields squarehead comes to w&o street tracks following releases on wolf music, pet records and mannuccis mistress that make him a perfect fit for his new home - something thats demonstrated further on the six and a half minutes of euphoric garage house that makes up his lead remix. the well respected talents of chamboche serve him equally well on an accompanying deeper revision that channels carl craigs paperclip people project

the second offer on public possession is by artist matthew brown. we know little about this guy - he lives in tasmania in an area known as the great western tiers and is held in high regard for his live sets on the mainland. getting the final tapes of him was quite difficult but well worth the effort. he has been an integral part of the electronic underground scene in australia for years and the demand for a physical release was high. finally the wait is over, public possession is very happy to present you the first ever 12&#8243,, by matthew brown, who delivers three tracks, two of them probably best described as analogue electronic funk for dancefloors at peaktime. the ep is completed by the track borobo with its incredible slowmotion groove and balearic touch. all in all we are very happy to share this music with you, as it was a about time that the music by the man matthew brown gets its shine on a vinyl release. expect more to come in the future, this is just the beginning…

2013 repress / release number 6 from our label brings us oscar muleros latest work, proof that the new sounds hes experimenting with do not constitute at all a departure from his command of the rawest side of the purest techno. horses, oscar muleros new ep, takes us back to the mulero that the majority of the public will recognise, to the overwhelming sound that has led him straight to the top over the past two decades. the record opens with like a wolf: broken drum beats, sharp hats, fm basses and dynamic white noise drones whose energy never falters throughout the track. horses, the second track, gives the record its name and offers intricate rhythm programming, dark atmospheres and acid sounds that, as a whole, create a mental and hypnotic feeling. the closing track is in a silent way, which runs along similar lines to the previous two, but with less bpms and with an obsessive sequence that mutates and develops throughout the track leaving the listener with a mills aftertaste, but with a berliner touch.
