stephan schindler aka kryptic universe aka lockertmatik is a german electronic music producer with a preference for analogue gear. he has a distinct 90s techno and house sound signature without sounding dated or overnostalgic. after making waves on his own (vinyl only) lockertmatik imprint, he got full recognicition through his ep on shtum (uncanny valleys sublabel).
thank something for the interweb, otherwise we might have never been able to get in touch with this obscure talent. we are proud to introduce him in our roster with this fantastic ep, showcasing all of the above mentioned. midnight michigans detroit inspired machine funk, woodbridge st. tearjerking acid bassline & strings and, last but not least, the ridermans fierce analogue bassline and fearless drum programming brighten the catalogue of wolfskuil ltd in many, beautiful ways.
turn on the strobe lights and the fog machine. shtum returns with its second record, this time by dresdens very own kryptic universe. his ep comes with five cuts full of dark and gritty future jazz. his techno funk is playful as it is evocative. just listen to the bass line in *a light in the box* and the appropriately titled *critters funk*. not to mention the crazy piano in the title song and the rather hard-hitting *dark sky*. on top we got the mighty xdb on remix duties and his take on *signals*. again, the illustration on the b-side label is by aram haydeyan.
the talented italian producers pietro caprioglio aka autre and federico pedron aka xinner kicking it off with nebula. an emotional piece of late night techno music full of analog warmth and heart warming depth. autres seiryu is an atmospheric and loopy groove monster for the deeper dancefloors.dresdens kryptic universe delivers with 01309 stairways one of those gorgeous and simply perfect analogue sounding dub techno tracks. incredibly textured piece of work wich could have been already a classic since the golden basic channel/chain reaction years. owen jay and brian james closing it up with chordless. this is a mind blowing take of chord driven club material.
rolling out the circuits between hot sizzeling hi-tech funk, slamming dub-tech/half-step and subdued four/four techno/acid, label head claus bachor keeps you guessing with the original demo track and four huge remixes by terrence dixon, elec pt.1, lockertmatik / kryptic universe of scratched surfaces, deep determination, kicks, clangs, cuts, medieval water torture and exquisite elocution. there s a calming force tapping out from cologne s psycho thrill bnkr underground techno faucet, and -deep down inside- is a crowning example. the first vinyls of this final fished copy series (ltd. 300) went into hand-out during the past -movement- dayz in detroit via detroit threads and submerge (local3000 ur). there will be no repress!
