danny moore aka pvre matrix is from a generation of young techno producers out of brooklyn who come at the music without preconcieved notions or boundaries in their approach to production and playing live. he is the epitomy of the slash and burn blitzkrieg attitude of new producers popping up under the jmz everyday. while very interesting to see the scene develop this way. few have executed in such a fashion as pvre matrix has. impeccabily produced without losing its sense of urgency or brutality and clocking in at breakneck speed. pvre matrix is out for blood. and his three track debuts prove as such. while you might not catch danny moore in your local big room anytime soon. he is undeniably a force that is present and will crush you regardless.

coling strange lands on lies.. going to hit hard. this one..tip! collin strange has a long and storied history in the new york city underground music scene of the nineties. from owning a record shop in the east village. to working at distributers. to playing in bands of all sorts. to producing music alone. strange was around at one of the most vibrant (and transitional) times in the l.e.s.. just on the cusp of guliani s culture crackdown which choked the life out of the city. forcing many to leave. currently located in seattle. strange has picked up where he left off years ago plugging in the gear and churning out blistering acid cuts with a very d.i.y. edge that brings to mind drop bass network. unit moebius. or free party french acid of old. coming full circle these tracks are completely at home on l.i.e.s. and will undoubtedly thrash any soundsystem in sight. play at maximum volume for total disruption

the argentinian based ngly had seemingly appeared out of thin air landing on the brooklyn based l.i.e.s. label in 2014 with an untitled four track white label ep. on this ep. the unsuspecting track -speechless tape- ended up becoming a cult hit with select djs in the scene (i-f. mick wills. intergalactic gary...) eventually leading to it being voted as intergalactic fm s #1 track of the year in 2014. on the heels of his successful debut rudolfo could have stayed the path and produced an easily digestable follow up dance record or two. instead he chose to take his time and reflect. sitting back in the studio tweaking his live act. recording endlessly. transforming and refining his sound.
free jazz electronics. club beat tracks and psychedelic passageways all make an appearence on the latest 33.10.3402 ep for l.i.e.s. which follows up this year s earlier standout ep for the label. truly exciting music coming by way of belgrade. unafraid to turn the corner where most would runaway. adventerous music for those who know. not to be missed.

tzusing returns to l.i.e.s. with his third and (final?) name out of place ep after two now sought after percusors leading up to this one. again we are not disappointed as the massive opener face of electric hits hard taking a typical breakbeat formula and adding some sort of bizarre ritualistic element like the zulu nation or george kranz in a ceremony at a steel factory. emotional eater slows the tempo down. but again the machines grind hard with tinges of acid. heavy rhythms and sparse vocals moving in and out. while the closer r is a stripped down beater made for mixing. top stuff from the in demand producer.
new three track ep by los angeles producer silent servant. these will fly ...tip! known for his previous work with techno outfit sandwell district. juan mendez. since the dissolve of the group has tapped into his formative new wave/post punk and early electronic influences effectively applying them to his recent productions to create an engaging amalgamation of modern dance music. across this ep the sounds of bleep. ebm. and even minimal synth are all present...from deep floor movers to jagged edged 150 bpm skankers. mendez through these last years has been responsible for opening up minds on the floor and this ep proves to be a testament of such.
this polyrhythmic swirl of drum machine. tape echo and locked grooves is the product of two post-1982 jam sessions between an anonymous dj and drum machine operator duo. the dj liked the way a record happened to skip. more were made to do so. the drum machine operator had had a bit too much. but he knew that 100 divided by 3 was 33 - and he was feeling the toms that night. file under: funky experimental.
the highly anticipated follow up to their 2013 dream of the walled city (ost) lp. samo dj and max stenerudh return with another far out record complete with backstory. originally composed as an accompanying piece for artist thomas jeppe s exhibition in tehran. iran the music contained on this release was originally pressed on extremely limited cdr s given out for free at the exhibition. as it stands it would have been a crime to keep this music in the private sector. thus now we see an official release in long playing format here on l.i.e.s. dream-like. full of drama. suspense and full of cinematic overtones. once again the duo of samo and max deliver beyond the full scope of psychedelic soundtrack madness.

new york s gunnar haslam appears on l.i.e.s. with his third lp for the label titled lebesgue measures. picking up where he left off on his last long player mirrors and copulation we hear an evolution in his sound throughout the nine songs. still there are the understated yet grooving acid lines next to carefully programmed drums and attention to surrounding detail which creates beautiful and balanced atmospheres. there is a brightness coupled with an underlying sullenness tapping into some sort of mystical and seemingly obscured narrative which moves through the entire record. deep and immersive stuff to say the least.
jean nipon most recently known for his standout productions on parisien label clekclek boom joins the l.i.e.s. stable with a new three track ep. the a-side sees nipon go straight for the throat with a chicago-esce muted-synth beating drum track. not unlike early poindexter or ricky smith productions- it is effective. dj ready. and geared for the club. the two track b-side takes a more mellow and dusty approach- without losing his sense of rhythm engaging drum programming push along tape warbled melodies as the tracks expand and release. balancing out and letting this ep breathe perfectly.

the tracks on this ep represent the climate of clubbing yesteryear when it was normal for djs to play such things as ministry. front 242. or nitzer ebb next to a disco track next to a breakbeat track and so forth and to say these tracks could be heard somewhere like medusas would not be off base. driving. engaging and downright gnarly we can only hope these sounds foreshadow things opening back up on the floor as time pushs forward.
