the latest joint on uzuri comes from mark hand, a secret weapon of the uk house underground who has been active for a long time and now seems to be finally getting the props he deserves. his mood on -all caught up- reflects the infectious positivity of his live sets at freerotation, all mellifluous rhodes keys and classic deep house signifiers that seep into your soul. -cobwebs- is just as smooth, although it takes on a more deep-diving tone laden with transcendental chord progressions and a dash of motor city melancholy. that makes patrice scott the perfect choice to remix the track, and he takes a measured approach to simmering the component parts down for a version garnished with gorgeous piano and synth tones.

THE WILDNERNESS SESSIONS PART 2 - TALES FROM CATURDAY
12" Vinyl D29.06.15
the second installment of uzuri’s “the wilderness sessions” delivers 3 tracks geared towards the refined dancers and listeners of the world. the idea here is slow burning broken beat tracks infused with the soul of jazz and funk. the ep opens with fox ‘n hound, a slightly menacing and equally sexy jam which ebbs and flows with a delightfully funky bass line and enough melodic accents to keep full attention. the secret here is in the details which are craft-fully manipulated by this talented duo. futonjam continues the trend of beautifully unfolding composition with its shuffled percussion and gracefully evolving melodies. a perfect track for home listening and for those deep sultry moments on the dance floor. the crown jewel of this release is certainly the near 9 minute odyssey that is zukunft/ silber. a track which entertains and pushes towards a sophisticated style which is undeniably unique in approach. using broken patterns as a back drop for beautifully orchestrated strings, micro flutes and longing horns it transforms from a sweet and delicate sound to something more demanding of our bodies movement. this release will be sure to mark the beginning of what we can expect from these two producers who clearly aim to set themselves apart from the crowd.
uzuri starts 2013 with a released that comes deep from the detroit underground. its unlikely that youll be familiar with the name whodat (terri mcqueen), but shes been rocking selected dancefloors in the states and canada for the past seven plus years, and more recently has touched down in europe – notably with a gig at berlins about blank alongside motor city compatriot, marcellus pittman
we are very happy to have the italian duo ksoul & muteoscillator back on our release roster this time with a full ep. last releasing an ep back in 2013, an ep on dekmantel titled soul hell. ksoul & muteoscillator featured on a mini comp on uzuri back in 2010, titled from chicago turin amsterdam & dublin with love ep with a blistering track titled take 1
italian producer reekee has laid down soulful grooves for roots underground and wrong notes over the past year, and now he surfaces once again with this sumptuous turn for uzuri. bal-era is the perfect lead track, cultivating a classic deep house mood with passionate keys and synth lines, setting the scene for glenn underground to swoop in for an invigorating remix rich with saxophone goodness. black tobacco on the flip is a more subdued affair, but no less refined in its use of piano at the forefront of the mix, and then quartal ramps up the synth work without losing that infectious, soulful mood.
something tells me this ones gonna be big. uzuri 020 comes from jitterbug, and its great to have him back. followers of the label will be very familiar with this producers work, even if they know very little about the man himself. im not going to shatter the mystique.
for uzuri 018 we return to one of our home grown artists – jitterbug. time has flown since his last release for us in 2010, but we have been quite eager to get some new material out from him for a while – and, based on feedback we have had, plenty of other people are keen to hear more from him too. both his raw winter and beaten trax eps were pretty popular releases for us and his dj appearances always create a stir, so we are pleased to bring you this, the arcane theory ep. the track sequencing on this record is pretty aggressive – front-loaded with the confrontational rise of the machines. a track that really lives up to its title, sounding like the production line at cyberdyne systems… all stomp and evil synths, like a bad mood e-dancer. fallout couldnt be further from that – relaxed and making no attempt at all to get in your face. itll win you over, though. just a nice, deep groove and a lovely, phased beat. could play it for hours… the whole of the flip is devoted to nomads, a chiming, acidic wander. nearly eleven minutes in length. the kicks never at the fore on this one – most of the action occurs at the mid and high frequencies – a resonant 303, lots of hi hats and, later, synths which expand on the eastern-flavour of the track title
the londinium ep is the latest release on uzuri recordings and welcomes chicago skyway back to the fold. not that hes been away too long, having produced a full 12 release and contributed to the from chicago turin amsterdam & dublin with love ep just last year. we also welcome hakim murphy to the label – with his credentials it was only a matter of time before our paths crossed!as the title suggests, this release was inspired, conceptually at least, by our nations capital, and its apparent that sean has spent quite enough time here to get the gist of the place, with the b-side tracks entitled traffic and noise, respectively. im sure he loves it here, really.musically, he keeps it closer to his windy city heart – very clearly reflecting his roots, in fact. as a dj and club promoter in mid 90s chicago, sean frequently shared the decks with some of the citys biggest talents at that time – cajmere, gene farris and spencer kinsey (gemini) among them, and one could say that theres an audible relief flavour to a-side, london streets, with its stripped-back, hypnotic stomp. its fitting that hakim murphy remixes the track, coming from similar roots within chicagos scene, and his own reworking retains the drawn-out essence of the original but brings a whole new hips-and-shoulders groove to the track.
what needs to be said about move d? overused, though the veteran tag is, david moufang has been producing excellent music for many, many years. yet, the last few have seen him receive particular acclaim, especially for his more house-flavoured work - buoyed by his increased reputation as a dj... already played by ricardo villalobos
the number 13 my be considered unlucky by some, but not so far italians. fittingly, for uzuri 013 we welcome back leopoldo rosa aka lerosa for his third release on the label - his first being back in 2007 on uzuri 001. this new 12 inch precedes his forthcoming full length release for the label.
the 12th release on uzuri sees contributions from turin, chicago , amsterdam & dublin. the opener sees morphine & kinda souls ksoul teaming up with new production partner muteoscillattor. >take 1< kicks things off in fine fashion, proper rough, raw and intense jacking house that is completed by the heavy heavy bassline. brilliant!
chicago skyway returns to uzuri with >resolution m<. nodding to the likes of larry heard, armando and virgo, the chitown resident puts his analog machines to work & delivers an elegant & funky number.
the bside kicks off with juju & jordashs >killing raul with acid<, an epic, tension laden full on acidic outing from the amsterdam duo, fresh from their ace tattoos island ep on philpot.
the ep is finished off with a track from dublins slowburn. they debut with >meteor<, a deep as you like slow burner. lovely kicks, languid keys. a promising start from ireland!
south london boy jitterbug drops his 2nd ep on uzuri after his well received debut >raw winter< early 2009. he pretty much continues where he left off. raw, deep cuts, strictly for the heads with even more attention to the detail. taking in disco, via chicago, detroit and london! a self assured 2nd ep and strictly unmissable!
lerosa makes a welcome return to uzuri recordings. night radio ep is lerosas most dancefloor friendly release to date including metaphor (feat on the much later ep) revisited by non other than nyc legend elbee bad, laying down a vocal and some funky brooklyn vibes to the proceedings. a winner of an ep with no fillers but essential cuts!
played by move d, jus ed, steve bug, cassy, lawrence ... muscovite anton zaps profile has risen through the roof since 2007, with his masterful deep house excursions. first coming to prominence with releases on the excellent jus eds underground quality imprint and further outings on deep explorer, quintessentials. outside ep, his first release on uzuri recordings further seals his reputation as a producer of note
supported by move d, fred p, keith worthy, dj deep !! jitterbug began djaying at the age of 15 in the uk. and now more than 10 years later, has as much passion and enthusiasm for it as ever. chicago house music became his first real love, blown away by the rough yet soulful grooves of producers like gemini and cajmere, and the hard, funky sounds of labels like relief records, prescription, and dance mania. detroit techno followed suit, and a strong fascination for the roots and history of dance music led to a love for black music in all its many
uzuri is proud to be releasing this talent s debut ep. >hohol< is the finest example of slow, compressed house and techno variations . it s a deep, sprawling affair that takes in sumptuous chicago reductions and crawling detroit shuffles, hypnotic grooves with enough funk to keep you going - complete with crazy compression and filtering. man of the moment, lerosa, comes up trumps with his rather filthy remix
the first dj to have been entrusted with the task of mixing panorama bars first dj mix. shes been making a name for herself on the production front, with releases for labels such as perlon, beat street, mental groove e.t.c, collaborations with luciano, matthew johnson, ricardo villalobos as well as remixes for ricardo villalobos, swayzak & most recently tepeli & prosumer e.t.c. a poem for you finds her in fine form! focusing on ultra deep and ultra hypnotic tech that brazenly cuts into house, cassys first outing for uzuri is a masterclass in restraint. kickstarting the ep with for you, with its stripped down machine funk and those delicious vocals. man of the moment, bridgeport finest house don, jus ed, adds his magical touch on his superb remix of for you. with his his signature hi hats, crisp percussion. the ep rounds off on an even higher note with an outstanding house cut titled, poem. another winner then from this outstanding artist!
