the latest joint on uzuri comes from mark hand, a secret weapon of the uk house underground who has been active for a long time and now seems to be finally getting the props he deserves. his mood on -all caught up- reflects the infectious positivity of his live sets at freerotation, all mellifluous rhodes keys and classic deep house signifiers that seep into your soul. -cobwebs- is just as smooth, although it takes on a more deep-diving tone laden with transcendental chord progressions and a dash of motor city melancholy. that makes patrice scott the perfect choice to remix the track, and he takes a measured approach to simmering the component parts down for a version garnished with gorgeous piano and synth tones.

since 2014 the innate blog has been delivering high quality slow journalism, serving up articles that shine a light on artists that have otherwise gone under the radar. four years on, the innate team has decided to launch their own label with the same stated aims, namely to showcase deep electronic music with warmth and soul, produced by unheralded heroes old and new. the labels first release a four-track, multi-artist missive offers a neat summary of what listeners can expect to hear in the months and years ahead. the ep opens with something rather special: a sparkling, life-affirming fusion of b12 style intelligent techno and larry heard-esque flourishes from debutant gilbert, a sound designer and future star from innate s home city of bristol. it s followed on side a by a similarly shimmering chunk of techno futurism from freerotation resident and cubic space collective member mark hand. formidable irish producer lerosa has previously impressed via fine releases for a myriad of high quality underground labels, so it s no surprise that his contribution to innate 001 a mind-altering, otherworldly jack-track entitled shadow is the ep s most robust and intense moment. fittingly, its innate founder owain k who draws the ep to a close. hes long been renowned for creating immersive, ultra deep dancefloor workouts, and pixeled scenery is amongst his most magical moments yet.

fat dog records continues its quest to deliver timeless electronic music with this polished four track ep by mark hand. deeply personal and reflective peripherals is a milestone for mark whose previous releases have been championed by the likes of prosumer, soulphiction, session victim, russ gabriel and hunee.-jaded- and -another broken sunday- draw inspiration from detroit capturing the beauty of cosmic techno perfectly. assumptions features samples of marks late father playing saxophone alongside sun ra resulting in a profound and meaningful example of modern jazz fusion whilst the title track peripherals draws the ep to a close with a delicate piece of poignant ambience

fatdog records returns after a break, offering contributions from 3 artists new to the label - the rutan, tom mc connell and mark hand. fdr003 offers a development from the deep house template on the last ep, this time taking us further into deeper detroit territories. mark hand offers us drexciyan techno in the form of cold feet. the rutans fable sits somewhere between vakula and some of henrik schwarzs earlier dub-house experiments, while fat dog takes us to the murky back alleys of his mind with jaffa cakes. finally tom mc.connells juniper takes us into wonkier groove rhodes stylings which rounds off the ep very nicely indeed. support by john heckle, afrikan sciences, lay-far, enrico (neroli), sonars ghost (2000 black), burnski, wolf music

!! ltd 50% deal !! following up on an excellent 12inch for karakul, a phonica records sub-label, he channels the spirit of legendary rhythm architects herbie hancock, theo parrish, kenny dope and lil louie vega, collating four rough gems made using an mpc, nord lead 2, roland sh101, roland 606, juno 106, jen sx1000, rhodes 88mk1 and with the help of mark hand on keys, misumami on vocals and ian blevins. each track packs incredible punch in the groove stakes, undoubtedly the characteristic that has attracted the likes of moodymann, seven davis jr and gilles peterson to ny*ak s music.
