after sharing his flair for producing polished house grooves on kwench records’ last ep, philly veteran pete moss returns to collaborate with cassy on the fifth release. this instalment gives two original tracks, and introduces aus music steamroller marquis hawkes into the fold as remixer. keeping to mind that cassy’s motive was to produce with esteemed artists that she personally came to admire, to be enlisted on two eps is a testament to moss’s finesse. for marquis hawkes, cassy’s admiration runs deep into his ability to expertly produce quality house music on many levels. last year he had three critically exclaimed releases on aus music, with ‘the basement is burning’ ep securing its place as a summer smash.
collaborating with producers cassy holds in high regard is the modus operandi of her newly launched label, kwench records. powered by the finesse of us veteran pete moss, the fourth ep dips the imprint into a slicker, more sensual side to house music. and adding fire to the flame is the legendary ron trent, who completes the release with a scorching ten-minute remix. cassy launched kwench records with a burning appetite to create house music with esteemed producers whose careers could be defined by their eagerness to experiment. with her championing moss’s and trent’s productions for years, she approached the fourth release confident that their collaborative material would be dynamite. cassy, among hundreds of her peers in the dance music sphere, has been an ardent admirer of chicago house hero ron trent for years. with a huge back catalogue dating back to 1990 its safe to say he holds a special place within dance music.
for the third release on kwench records, cassy collaborates with stockholm’s art alfie. between them they deliver two diverse tracks brought together with a touch of class and cassy’s distinct vocal. for the remix, german dj / producer chris count rounds off the ep by delivering an acid tinged version of ‘solar’.
art alfie enjoyed a successful 2017 as a solo artist. his first project of the year, the ‘reveries of’ lp, released on none other than studio barnhus. this was swiftly followed up by another solo effort on his karlovak imprint he runs alongside mr tophat. both releases garnered plenty of support from across the dj spectrum.
the second release from cassys new collaborative label kwench records sees new york native fred p turn in three stellar remixes of cassy & demuirs please me from the labels inaugural release from november. the remit for each release on the label is for two (or more) collaborating artists to produce original material, whilst a different artist will deliver one remix. however, after hearing three fantastic interpretations from fred p, cassy was adamant that the tracks were so special, they had to have their own release.
following a string of remixes throughout 2016, and one of her busiest summers on the road, cassy is rounding off the year on a high. enter ‘kwench records’, a collaborative imprint she has created to represent honest and upfront house music. the remit is simple, on each release two or more artists will collaborate on ep original material, with a different artist joining the package on remix duty. they must not be afraid to experiment, nor do what comes naturally to them. and above all, trust in themselves and their instincts. this is something cassy has proudly learned to master over her dj career, and she now wishes to put out records in a creative space that encourages this approach. for the first release, cassy has called in one of her favourite house music producers, canada based demuir, to collaborate with her. demuir’s ‘derrick does disco’ ep which came out on great lakes audio in 2016 was a favorite in cassy’s sets throughout that year, even making it onto her mixmag presents cd ‘let’s talk about donna’, which accompanied her cover in june. there are three original cuts on the package, and as a special treat for the first release, cassy is holding back the incredible remix package until later this year.
just over a year ago cassy embarked on her largest and most personal project yet, her debut solo album donna , released on revered imprint aus music. since then, cassy has put out a string of remixes on powerplant, turbo, echoe and watergate, plus a track on muna s latest va. throughout this period, cassy has also been in the studio working on new material, the first of which to be released in september, and is titled cassy 004 . as the title infers, cassy is reawakening her self-titled imprint she created in 2006, and has had three previous releases until now. with no plan or set schedule, the remit was simply to release her own records, when the time is right, and the quality is high. the music always reflected the quirkier side to cassy s club tastes. and 004 continue in this vein. it perfectly encapsulates the sleek and hypnotic sounds of the harder end of her dj sets. the tracks are titled one and two , with cassy giving one a reshape to round off a trio of cuts aimed at the dancefloor.
sasha continues to make this year his own as he drops his debut ep on watergate, gameovr. the ep features two original tracks, including the long-awaited trigonometry, and first class remixes from cassy and la fleur. after his recent critically acclaimed sell-out live shows at the barbican and his out of time ep on kompakt, not to mention gearing up for his resistance residency with john digweed in ibiza, sasha officially confirms his debut release on watergate records.
DONNA (M. DETTMANN, RADIO SLAVE, RON BACARDI RMXS) (2X12 INCH)
2x12" Vinyl D08.08.16
aus music ready a double vinyl remix package from cassys debut album, donna which came out in june 2016. with donna we hear a more personal side of cassy. co-produced by her soul brother king britt, cassy reconnects with her vocal talentwriting lyrics and singing on all tracks but one, making the album an intimate journey from the soul. cassy has en-listed some of her most respected peers, all of whom have put their own stamp on the original tracks. this makes the remix package the perfect contrast to the album, and also proves that cassys original music has the seal of approval from some of the finest house and techno heavyweights on the circuit today. marcel dettmann adds an endearing edge to move move, whilst ron bacardi picks up an undeniable pace on all i do. feel is taken on a cosmic journey with onsulade’s yoruba, and radio slave gives keep trying the remix treatment twice. finally keep trying is reworked on by friend & collaborator, djulz, julz takes takes things down a subtle, dubbier route with his edit, keeping cassys vocals a staple throughout.
laura jones is a rare specimen, a producer who puts her heart and soul into every production. the few key releases she has made for crosstown rebels, visionquest and leftroom have become instant anthems and shot her into stardom. embrace sees a return to leftroom and to form for laura with new exploration into darker techno underworlds with think over and imagination unreal, illustrating the complexity and breadth of jones as a producer.
the latest bass culture presents an exciting partnership between label boss d julz and his long time friend cassy, resulting in three tracks of the kind of refined house music that you would naturally expect from two well-travelled djs. her global status as a dj ensures cassy is never far from the minds of switched-on house heads, but its a rare treat to enjoy her own productions. when she appears on record she makes it count, and its no different here as her and djulz tap into what makes them tick as djs and dancers alike
ahead of the deliriously deep and rhythmically complex debut album >face to face (out in november on serialism), phillippe quenum aka quenum first displays his rich, dynamic and sometimes soulfully melancholic sound across a teaser ep featuring two album tracks plus a tough yet shimmering remix from the ever classy and timeless, cassy. lead track >face to face< pulses with raw, rumbling bass as hard claps accent an unfettered groove scattered with delicate sonic nuances and a powerful vocal sample. from peak time to sunrise, >5 am< is an ethereal electronic voyage, with softly woven beats, rippling synths and melodic keys.
its not really necessary to introduce catherine britton aka cassy anymore. throughout the last years she continuously worked on her very own definition of house. besides releasing on labels like playhouse, minus, mental groove, dessous, get physical and perlon, she also started her own label, entitled cassy. shes also known for her countless collaborations with musicians like ricardo villalobos, steve bug, dj elin, dave the hustler, luciano, mathew jonson and swayzak and of course for her excellent dj-sets all around the world. perl82 is cassys third 12inch for perlon.
cassy is releasing her third record on her own label, where she concentrates on simple sound and voice experiments. very characteristic for her sound again her voice and the 808 on both tracks. endless endeacour is a love song where ava can be received as an anti love song.
>find me< is the first single to be taken from the new album and features the berlin-based artist cassy, who is considered to be one of the most distinguished and well-regarded artists in the electronic music scene, due to her dj residency at the world-famous panorama bar and her collaborations with artists like steve bug, ricardo villalobos, luciano, swayzak and many more.

the first dj to have been entrusted with the task of mixing panorama bars first dj mix. shes been making a name for herself on the production front, with releases for labels such as perlon, beat street, mental groove e.t.c, collaborations with luciano, matthew johnson, ricardo villalobos as well as remixes for ricardo villalobos, swayzak & most recently tepeli & prosumer e.t.c. a poem for you finds her in fine form! focusing on ultra deep and ultra hypnotic tech that brazenly cuts into house, cassys first outing for uzuri is a masterclass in restraint. kickstarting the ep with for you, with its stripped down machine funk and those delicious vocals. man of the moment, bridgeport finest house don, jus ed, adds his magical touch on his superb remix of for you. with his his signature hi hats, crisp percussion. the ep rounds off on an even higher note with an outstanding house cut titled, poem. another winner then from this outstanding artist!
like hardly any other contemporary dj, catherine britton aka cassy is living at the interfaces between reduction and soul, jazzy deep house and geometrically structured techno. and it comes as no surprise, because being the english-born daughter of a caribbean father and an austrian mother, cassy started at a very early age to develop a sense for artistic aesthetics that draws its special magic from the >in-between< especially. being resident in berlin since 2003, she quickly gained a residence at the panorama bar, worked as a producer with such renowned musicians like ricardo villalobos, luciano, mathew jonson or swayzak and releases her music on labels such as perlon, ostgutton as well as on her own imprint cassy. simply devotion, cassys 2nd mix cd after the highly acclaimed panorama bar 01 compilation is a proof of her love for deep house of a different kind, which has - despite occasional flashes of souly vocals - nothing to do with garage house and handbag factor
following the big success of the tmng001 catalogue, label-head yaya strikes back on his own label with another wicked release. his second ep called ‘unconditional love’ also features the first tamango remixer ever and we’re more than proud to have ‘panorama bar’ lady cassy on board. the ep kicks off the things with entitled ‘unconditional love’ which features yaya’s typical trademark groove with some extra great tribal-drums contaminations combined with a great caribbean-oriented female chant, giving life to a proper dancefloor burner. a2 is about cassy. she has been into the music industry since 2003 when she moved to berlin and she’s fresh of her latest album ‘donna’ on ‘aus music’ last year. she provides a beautiful and heavier interpretation of ‘unconditional love’, adding crisp percussions and pure analogic spatial pad, creating a dreamlike dimension surrounded by the massif utilization of pitched endless vocals. the b-side contains the dub version of ‘unconditional love’ for the ones who need a precise and outspoken tool without the vocal part. closing the ep is ‘lone wolf’ which is the prove to dispel any doubt on yaya’s producing skills: the track immediately approaches into softer sonority with nimble analogic and syncopated synths and rapid drums, with hi-hats and shakers only, for another tamango unmissable chapter.
first juke joints remix package of a scheduled three with some serious remixers in the pipeline. fort romeau, cassy and ryan elliott step up offering their own personal interpretations of parris mitchell.

reworks by ata, cassy, arto mwambe!! steve bug charts + big support from all over!!! fact is that ata/sasse rework a jahcoozi track, upvalues this 12inch with extra rarity bonus points, because usually ata only produces very infrequently and selected remixes. they put your record player in shallow, well-tempered water, while fine sand tickles the nail. now and then you can listen to a groovy, fart-sounding simmer when a warm dubby summerbreeze waves through your ntilnian head. the ex-nord ntiln dj arto mwambe puts all eggs in one basket: modern-bombast! a jingling glockenspiel and fucked-up stottered vocals – all covered up with a squelching drone…
inc cassy remix (perlon, panoramabar), first up is the more jackin minimal tune of the lot.… the second tune of the a-side takes on a more trancey and bleepy approach as string-like pads are brought in to mellow out the feeling of the track and support the crunchy and vibrant bass line. the major elements of b1 are comprised of an acidlike bass line and a staccato house piano. for the fourth and final track of the ep, cassy is brought in on remix duty and does a makeover of bleepy creep (a1) that introduces new elements and new energies. the remix is based on minimal references and stays low and repetitive
