after his much acclaimed how is club 246 (quintessentials 59) some months ago, our detroit maestro and non stop producer is back! we love javonntte as he covers everything from live and direct cuts to smooth deep house tunes as you will hear on his private party ep. no big fuss just pure house music! are you invited to javonnttes private party?
time flies as the saying goes and indeed it has as quintessentials celebrates its 10 year anniversary. for a decade this mighty label has been getting some true love and support from all quarters. listening to the back catalogue now, most of the tunes still sound fresh and keep the label s famous deep, raw and real- motto alive. quintessentials has always been a platform for new talents as well as established artists, and with he likes of anton zap, vakula, baaz, the zohar, mcde, nicolas, ugly drums, toby tobias, borrowed identity, mat chiavaroli, 4004, soul of hex, s3a, los goddard, felipe gordon, javonntte……to name but a few, it s an enviable back catalogue. this -ten years quintessentials- compilation offers a wide range of styles: detroit inspired techno and house, a ruff chicago stomper, some proper deep house, a discoish tool, and crafty beats and basslines all over! we hope you enjoy this compilation as much as we do. we are ready for the next decade! are you?
based in colombias capital, bogotá, felipe gordons sound is testimony that both challenges and reinvigorates the burgeoning colombian house movement. his statement is built of resonances inspired by other decades, bogotá, cold, streets and messy youth. its not surprising when we hear pianos and classic acid house lines paired with jazz samples and funky bass lines. his ability to mix this complex sounds into club music has made gordon into a renowned and prolific producer (nomada, toy tonics, w&o street tracks, sampling as an art). one to watch. nuff said. welcome to quintessentials!
some more mexican music on quintessentials! this time from long time buddy 4004, another driving force in mexico and already an established producer with releases on labels like freerange, faces, vicario ltd or quintessentials. mostly doing stuff on his own, quintessentials 56 features a great collab track with stuttgarts stylus heat. im not sure if we find 4004 reasons to like you gerardo, but there are definitely two: youre a cool fella and we love your music - simple as that!
this second half of 2017 quintessentials will offer a lot of south american music. like from our long time friend and regular guest soul of hex! hailing from tijuana, soul of hex (also know as sebastien vorhaus) has a rich, nuanced and grainy style with an authenticity thats closer in sound to vintage detroit or new york pastures, despite his mexican heritage. busy djing, producing and running his own label vicario ltd, soul of hex is a driving force in the mexican scene. his new helipop ep offers different styles like a downbeat intro, a deep bassy rough house cut (helipop) plus 2 back to oldschool rave/warehouse tunes not afraid using some uplifting pianos, catchy vocals and deep basslines. house music all night long!
following a number of exciting tunes released on the renowned quintessentials, here comes mat chiavarolis first long-player no stranger to madness. warm fostex tape hisses and mpc swings, the guy from the pescara hills delivers 10 tracks for both your dancing and listening pleasure.
originally released on the v.a. quintessentials 50 and making rather big waves, grooff machine from ponty mython gets the remix treatment for some more dope grooffs! chicago hotshot chrissy (the nite owl diner, classic, razor n tape) puts enough disco and acid in it and offers a great clubby alltime classic. ponty himself fuses lost of house, disco, funk and 808 busines so that you can grooff to the max. and our mexican buddy soul of hex (vicario ltd, freerange) keeps it dark and loopy before adding some splendid riffs. time for the grooff machine!
theres no need to do a big introduction of deep space orchestra. si murray and chris barker have releases on a number of heavyweight labels (e.g. delusions of grandeur or use of weapons) and regular guest appearances at club nights and radio shows throughout the uk and rest of the world. their second ep for quintessentials is some raw and analogue business topped with the dso funk! wolf music hot shot krl adds some piano and old school power on his remix and we must admit were delighted!
ONE NIGHT ONMARE STREET / DEEP SPACE ORCHESTRA REMIX
12" Vinyl D13.03.12
toby tobias has been honing his production skills since the mid nineties. by the time he released on rekids in 2006, tobys work was already of a high calibre - and hes now decided to share his unique sound with us. in his first full release for quintessentials, one night on mare street, toby blends his love for house and disco and shows again his true class. what counts for toby tobias counts for the remixers too: they have their own sound! enjoy the fab work of quintessentials homies deep space orchestra and ugly drums plus new hotshot weekend express. thank you!
and the story goes like this: skipson (also known as knarf skipson in the past) was recording the >ks editspot pt.1<, which is based on samples from a rob mello track. as skipson is a nice fella, he sent the final version to rob. and as rob is a nice fella too, he liked it, sent one of his tracks back and this project was born. thats the easy way of sample clearing! this 10inch is about house music, as simple as that! groovy beats and fat basslines, rough and ready. limited to 500 copies - enjoy!
well, what can we say. do we have to say something? hell yeah! as its a luke solomon release under his new moniker lukatron! the first >lukatron< release ever - world premiere! the man is classic, the music is classic. 4 toolish tracks with a oldschool house and techno flavour, the way quite some fellas out there like it (and us too). as you can see, this is part 1 of a series of lukatron releases. and we are happy to have luke on board!
yes its a hot summer, and we love this! to extend this summer, we offer you a pack of proper mediterranean feelings, courtesy of spains deep house maestro dubbyman. dubbyman is for deep house what fellow countryman david villa is for football - a real champ! smoothly crafted pieces of soulful music is what the dubodenal ep is all about. featuring dubbymans brother above smoke remix work. enjoy!
a warm welcome to detroit producer javonntte for his first quintessentials release. javonntte has been releasing his blend of pure deep house quality for years and his how is club246 is another fine example of his great talent. so how is club246? first of all the title is an hommage to a club in detroit in 1996. and javonnttes interpretation of club246 is diverse! the opening track has a slight kerri chandler flair, whereas club246 is a pure pumping club tool for all you djs out there. the b-side goes deeper. worldmix is a slow, deep (hell yeah) and hip hopish low bpm groover, whereas citylights is a classic vocal deep house track. club246? proper house music all night long!
time for some gentlemen cuts - again! quintessentials spotted some hot european talents and welcomes kian-t, replica, giovanni damico and kolja gerstenberg to the family. expect some freakyness, some funkyness, some deep basslines and some dope beats. and a lot of coolness. 4 cuts not to be missed! thank you.
bienvenue s3a = sampling as an art! with great pleasure we welcome this versatile french producer, who has been making waves with splendid releases on labels like local talk, 4lux, phonogramme, hold youth or his own s3a records. well crafted proper house music, garage, disco touched, funky - he can do it all! hes sampling as an art! merci monsieur!
over half a year has passed since loz s last outing on brooklyn s razor n tape but he s back on a solo tip with this 4 tracker of slightly deeper and more synth-driven cuts than we ve been used to this year from the man. slap dancer sets the tone with punchy drum & sample hits, easily the most club oriented of the bunch. duplicity sees loz back on that slightly funkier sound we have come to know of recent times, but with a little added dustiness. flavour adds a little extra sprinkling of dust with it s rolling drums and chords - proper chillin basement tackle. be sure to check that b2 cut sunset vista for that slow, machine driven & synthed out acid jam as well.
quintessentials is very happy to present their 50th release! to celebrate this, we invited some buddies to bring the deep beats. and damn they did! mat chiavaroli, one of your main artists who is getting stronger and stronger, opens this jubilee release with upbuilding powerful tune, just the tune the get quintessentials 50 started! great to see profilic dutch producer nachtbraker (heist, quartet series) on the label too. we love his style and he will soon be as popular as ajax amsterdam! his subtle and dirty “bronco” fits in perfectly. the definitive club tune that grooves and grooves and grooves comes from ponty mython (dirt crew). alexandr is a cool guy and this is defo a cool tune. last but not least is soul of hex (freerange, vicario). our mexican friend is going very raw this time. yes, why not call it electronic body music (remember?)! as we are gentlemen, we added a quintessentials sticker in the vinyl edition. go and get it!
yes, here it is, the first full solo ep from our amigo 4004! together with his mate sebastien vorhaus, he is one of mexicos top producers and has a quality output on labels like freerange, faces, vicario music and last but not least quintessentials. living in berlin this summer, 4004 will get lots of inspiration and will have a busy musical journey. and hopefully some sleep! for now, his new body night lies is another dope release for your house collection - damn deep and moody!
our french friend steven wobblejay strikes back! after the sublime shake your tingsz ep (qe 45), steve presents again some dope deep raw tunes. lots of old school flava with a new school twist! his partnership with pablo valentino as creative swing alliance (wolf music, faces, tsuba a.o.) has been a great base for developping his own style. another great talent is past, present and future quintessentials artist mat chiavaroli, who’s delivering a rugged and freestylish remix. hang out - the way we love it!
borrowed identity, the man who makes music non stop, when not travelling the world! borrowed identity, the man who lives in the geman black forest, maybe thats why his music sounds so black! borrowed identity, the man who already released two superb eps on quintessentials and wont stop! borrowed identity, the man who enjoys nature as much as playing techno, house or disco!
hes back in full! after his compilation contribution on thank you freaks part 3 (qe36), italian producer and dj mat chiavaroli is back on quintessentials with his first full ep. a rich blend of music with lots of beatiful details! tastes as delicious as pizza and pasta! plus as desert a dope remix from the ever reliable creative swing alliance (tsuba, mule musique, faces). get the swan ep for your (quint)essential house collection!
dig deep in the house underground and discover diamonds like steven wobblejay! well known for his partnership with pablo valentino as creative swing alliance (wolf music, faces, tsuba a.o.), steve has also a lot to offer solo. its raw, funky and techy, its a shake your tingz sound, its all in there! thats what we love about his sound. so we put it on wax. simple as that. shake your tingz! we do, we do!
it started with deep, raw and real, then it was thank you freaks, now its gentlemen cuts - all well rounded lovely compialtions bringing some hot tunes from all over the globe! with clang83, we have another up and coming italian artist whos into this kinda classic house and detroit sound.
oh yeah, we love those tunes, we love the idea of this west (mexico) to east (lithuania) studio exchange, we love the jam style, we love the instant lets record it and put it on wax feel! so we dont want to blow this up. no big pr stories, just good music made by ponty mython (dirt crew, swedish brandy, eat more house) and sebastien vorhaus (quintessentials, faces records, vicario musique). buy it, play it, feel it! thanks!
borrowed identity lives and breathes music. hes unstoppable. hes smooth. his new sexo bonito release is again as fat as his last quintessentials release, that famous love for sale (qe 35).borrowed identity fuses techno, house, funk and more. hes freestyle. and yeah, hes a world champion. we love him truly! enjoy sexo bonito!
its a great pleasure to announce the first release from mexican duo 4004 & sebastien vorhaus. they might not run as fast as speedy gonzales, but their music is super hot, deep and raw! yeah you know we like that at quintessentials…… 4004 & sebastien vorhaus work together as well as solo and their work has already been signed by the almighty faces records (pablo valentino and mcde). plus they also set up their own label, vicario musique, so these are definitely names to watch. viva mexico!
quintessentials has been a main stay in the house music lovers diet since 2008 and has a proven track record with releases from artists such as anton zap, nicolas and motor city drum ensemble. here the label continues to push quality as it teams up with uk based oddity jack fell down.
MORE ABOUT THESE SO CALLED LOVE SONGS (BORROWED IDENTIY RMX)
12" Vinyl D04.03.14
this is it, the first release from our man from the dirty south! anaxanders talent is obvious, he has been producing different types of music and has been releasing on labels like local talk or dame music.
jeremy glenn continues on his quest to go deeper in this 4 track ep for quintessentials. the title track, wait for the night is anchored by a pulsing organ bass line, complimented by dark, pitched down vocals, simple lead lines and the occasional falsetto from glenn.
as you know the world is full of freaks and we love the music freaks! already part 3 of this compilation project, quintessentials again offer 4 quality cuts of house music. deep, raw, old school, new school, pumping, jacking, mellow - its all there! thank you mat, thank you jamie, thank you jack fell down, thank you anaxander!
growing up in the deep south of germany with multi ethnic friends and big interest in many different music genres of the world, borrowed identity built his wide knowledge in music. this variety in his musical taste is also the reason why he is working under different aliases producing a big variety of sound from ambient to house to experimental music and everything inbetween.
this is a joint venture of up and coming paskal & urban absolutes and house veterans henry l & ingo saenger. all 4 producers are connected by their penchant for deep and raw house music, while living quite far apart in berlin (b), düsseldorf (d), dortmund (d) and koeln (k). paskal & urban absolutes recently released on the highly respected sonar kolletiv label among others, whereas henry l and ingo sänger released on their own farside label and have been playing house music all life long. the 2 original tracks plus the 2 remixes are all sexy swingers! welcome to 2013!
vienna based dj and producer roman rauch doesnt like to compromise. hes constantly pushing his musical boundaries: house, techno, disco, funk. rr mixes the shit together like on his full 12? for quintessentials! keeping a raw edge on all 4 tracks, roman still provides club appeal. yes, we think hes talented, thats why he already released on philpot, endless flight or tenderpark. may the haus be hoch!
its time for the italian house hero again - nicholas! he has been all around in the past and he just cant do wrong. when it comes to proper us influenced house music, nicholas is the man. his new full release for quintessentials proves his talent again. its all there: the beats, the basslines, the pianos, the vocals! we love that! grazie nicholas!
well, the deep, raw and real series has come to an end with volume 4, but quintessentials keep these lovely compilations coming. the thank you freaks series is about hot tunes from hot producers. and part 1 is offering a lot of them: andy ash, uncle deep, chicago damn and marcos cabral! quite essential!
the man with the sexy basslines. the man with the cool hooks. the man with the fat drums. the man who sleeps in his studio. the man who sounds like kc or alikes. the man who breathes house music. the man who is house music. alex agore!!!!
gly drums! real ugly drums? well, in fact it doesnt matter! quintessentials 25 is a stunning 3-tracker from new signing ugly drums aka steffen baldo (who released an obscure white label on rush hour recently). steffen is a master when it comes to deep spooky house tunes, just check the a-side track >alright alright<. yes, it has a slight tp feel we think. the b-side shows steffens second love, which is pure house music with a disco twist. ugly? not at all, it’s beautiful
djing and producing together since 2005, deep space orchestra (chris barker and si murray) have releases on a number of heavyweight labels and regular guest appearances at club nights and radio shows throughout the uk and rest of the world. recent highlights include being asked to record a guest mix for gilles petersons highly influential worldwide show and an upcoming mix for michael ruettens soulsearching show. they also run the use of weapons record label, which, although only two releases old, is already gathering much praise. deep space orchestra releases appear on delusions of grandeur, art, winding road, home taping is killing music, use of weapons and soon instruments of rapture, drumpoet community or tracky bottoms too. yes, these guys are hot!
its with great pleasure that we announce this split ep from these two true music masters: nicholas and simoncino! it looks like these italians never eat pizza and pasta, never go to the beach, never watch calcio and never date some nice italian girls. they are music obsessed and prefer being in their studios and produce authentic oldschool house. for anyone who likes a deep, analogue synth heavy groove and is into disco and chicago, this ep is for you. forza italia!
some more proper house music from new quintessentials signing azuni! the lads have been making a name with an excellent debut album on sthlm audio and further releases on various labels like drumpoet community. azuni stands for proper house music - and the >soulship ep< is no exception. ranging from kerri chandler type of tracks like >do it to me< to the hip housey >feel it< (featuring the vocals of up and coming chicago based bolo, who already worked with glenn underground and ricardo miranda) to uplifting old schoolish tunes like the rob mello remix of >do it to me< to the deep and pumping >how wonderful<, it all there! grab it!
part 4 from the >deep, real and raw< series! again a well mixed selection of beats and basslines featuring mister >underground disco< toby tobias, famous for his releases on rekids and his debut compilation >underground disco< on ministry of sound, japanese sound freak no milk (yore, rhapsody), the ever present italian house maestro marcello napoletano (theres no stopping him) and ricardo miranda from chicago, who has made a big impression recently with superb tunes on labels like neroli, hour house is your rush (rush hour) and his own imprint noble square. get this part 4 now!
after the excellent received >deep, raw and real< part 1 and 2 (with the likes of motor city drum ensemble, stl and anton zap) its now time for more - part 3 and 4 are coming! we invited again some hot producers for some deep, raw and real tunes and the result is a fine mixture of contemporary global house music. part 3 features lukatron, the new project by the classic man luke solomon (as already heard on his full ep, quintessentials 17) and japanese wizard radiq, whos in peoples mind since his philpot release. the flipside offers the mighty cottam, famous for his self titled >cottam< releases plus up and coming deymare from finland. watch out for him and his releases on quintessentials, kindasoul and others.
the unsung has struck again. the mystery of that guy who hides himself under many sheets of pseudonyms like the zohar or ibrahim might be relevant or not, it is not the point. what is important is that his music is good as hell! exploring the inner workings of afro-americans dance music history, from sketchy blues and jazz to disco, hip hop and the toughest techno, his music is a proposition of what house music is or should be.
ifm is the project of the unstoppable marcello napoletano and franceso schito and is dedicated to their friend ilario corsano, who passed away. marcello napoletano needs no further introduction - like no one else he made his name with an old school inspired house sound. and this new ifm release is another fine example of this: drummachines, analog synths and the sound aesthetics of the early house days is what the >journey through the sound ep< is all about. true house music
knarf skipson is back on quintessentials for his second release. his style? still house with this kind of hip-hop flavour! is this cool? ah yeah! and the remix? a fat tool from sascha dive! need more? buy the record! thanks!
we are happy to present our first japanese artist on quintessentials, ryo murakami. ryo is no stranger to the scene, as he already released a bunch of records on respected labels like dessous, pokerflat or soon on mule musique. the main track >lunch of god< is a deep, raw and reduced house track with a strong us flavour and was already featured in jus eds underground quality radio show. ryo takes it even further with reducing - the result is >depths, a basic kickin techno track. the flipside offers the more than 11 minutes long >lunch of god< remix by house master scott ferguson. the ferris park maestro keeps things close to the original but adds more club feel plus a superb lil bonus track of his own. check it out!
here we go with part 2 of quintessentials 10, >deep, raw and real<. again 4 exclusive cuts for all you house freaks out there! jagged and the mysterious zohar are following there recent full eps on quintessentials with new tracks that show that all these guys are hot. big welcome to the ever raw stl (something, smalville, perlon) - his unique style fits in here nicely. great track mate! and finishing off with vakula, well know from his quintessentials 03 release. yes, we keep it deep, raw and real!
quintessentials is celebrating its 10th release with a compilation of deep, raw and real house music! splitted in 2 parts, >deep, raw and real< features some of the hottest producers around presenting their vision of current house music. part 1 features exclusive tracks by motor city drum ensemble (unstoppable with his own label and countless top remixes), anton zap (the quintessentials homie with a deep dubby track), knarf skipson (still in good shape after his latest 12 inch) and kasper (another top newcomer and name to watch). we say too: thanks for purchasing a real copy! part 2 coming soon: jagged, the zohar, stl, vakula
after their hello kool nice release (quintessentials 02), the jagged boys are back with another fab production. the main track langenthal is, well, we dare to say tech house with a disco feel and ready for club use! new york pumps it up even more and is another proof that jagged are well diverse. after quarion and harry swinger on qe 02, its now up to the mighty brothers vibe to do the remix - he delivered a monster mix! and let all of us know about his house and our house!
quintessentials welcome the zohar! deep, raw and real? well then, thats exactly what the zohars music is all about - and much more! its soulful, its funky yet dark! its black music! what or who is the zohar? we dont know. no one knows. the mystery shall remain sealed. enjoy those 3 fabulous tracks! peace!
round 6 for quintessentials and a new talent, knarf skipson! a house lover and dj for ages, knarf shows on his solo debut his definition of house music, damn hot house music we think! together with his buddy baaz, he already released on such acclaimed labels as deep vibes and sthlm audio. his brandnew >the flatwik< ep offers 4 great cuts of proper house music with sexy basslines and cool vocals - and a collaboration with baaz again! we will house you!
after his huge >pepper exchange vol. 1<, anton zap is back with more spicey house music. moscows finest offers 4 warehouse esque deep house groovers and proves that without a shadow of a doubt hes one who you need to keep close tabs on. on quintessentials 05, anton keeps his >pepper exchange< style: stripped back, & raw! its pure, back to its roots simple groove quality which works so well with anton zaps new 12inch. but like a lot of antons music, deep atmospherics play a big part and this is why his music has that standout from the rest feel. its not often that you come across a ep where all the tracks are playable, but even less often where all the tracks make you step back and appreciate them much more than you normally would. essential house music for those looking for the simple soul filled stripped back house feel
HELLO KOOL NICE, QUARION RMX / HARRY SWINGER & DC REMIX
12" Vinyl D29.09.08
the 3 jagged guys come from a different background, but they all love and live quality music for many years already! so the best time they have cooking things up in their studio – and as a result, it sounds like >hello kool nice<. analogue equipment plus the mpc, thats the sound of jagged and quintessentials 02: organic, raw and real! the remixes courtesy of colognes harry swinger & dc (rushhour) with an old school deephouse edit and man of the moment quarion (drumpoet community) with a great summerish uplifting rework are pure dope too. essential
