DANCING IN OUTER SPACE (THE REVENGE & GREYMATTER REWORKS)
12" Vinyl UK26.02.16
2016 repress.. these reworks by the revenge (soul heaven, jisco music) & greymatter (mr bongo, unique uncut) present two unique interpretations of the original, the revenge strips the track down into one of his trademark slamming mid tempo grooves, whilst greymatter keeps it closer to the original but adds a new level of drama for the dance floor. side b introduces a new talent to the scene – krl. playing on samples and influences from the soul scene and restructuring and resurrecting them as modern dance floor bangers, krls tracks are already creating a big buzz. the massive recession beat has been in constant demand since its first initial promo airings and the storming remember (greymatter rework) is also set to do big things.
soul has always been a constant in wolfs musical adventures, and here they release an ep that is positively drenched in it. wolfep026 has been crafted by wolf favourite, ishmael. a multi-instrumentalist who has featured on the label in the past but is now stepping up for his first full ep. fans of wolfep017 will be familiar with his debut single *want you* that received praise from the likes of jimpster, lovebirds & ben westbeech. luckily we didnt have to wait long for more tracks as we were treated to au juju & lumo as well a remix for frits wentink. this release is his full debut ep, and is a taster of what you can expect from this exciting new addition to the pack.
graham luckhurst, aka greymatter is one of the core producers of wolf music alongside medlar and krl. with a love for deep cuts, booming sonics and an amalgamation of influences that incorporates everything from jazz and world, garage to hip hop, luckhurst has developed progressive production and dj-ing styles that are uniquely his own. with a list of collaborative remixes the length of your arm, his experience as a producer is not to be overlooked and describing his output as prolific would be an understatement. greymatters sound is fine-tuned for cutting edge sound-systems and modern clubbing ears.
for their 20th release wolf music present a collaborative effort from greymatter & krl. the two brothers styles compliment themselves perfectly on the three original tracks contained on the ep. to round off the release, the label has drafted in remix duties from their third resident producer, medlar.

seven years, who cares? no one really but it seemed like a good excuse to do something a bit different. we spoke to some the artists that have helped shape wolf over the years and asked whether they would like to contribute to a double 7 inch release. excited by the unusual project session victim, frits wentink, greymatter & mr. fries have delivered four original tracks with the format in mind. hip hop, beat down, low slung & upfront house all contained across two records. this release will be vinyl only.
following on from his debut album last year, sleep. medlar follows up with extended 12inch versions of tides, the stand out track from the album and tap spring. boston crate digger kon is on remix duty who turns out a straight up house version of tides. while wolf music resident greymatter takes on album track listen, turning the jazz shuflling house track into a rumbling big room rework

new austrian based record label __ pusic records __ starts up with a very strong limited, hand stamped ep including tracks by label owners mono.mode / mazzomba, inverse cinematics, blunted monkz & fleur and remixes by duff disco (join the dots) and greymatter (wolf music records)
following on from last years dachshund skank ep by klic & article.01, we have asked some of our favourite producers of the moment to add their own slant to the originals which previously found their way into the dj sets of martyn and addison groove and gained support from bbc6 music. greymatter continues with his new love for chicago-styled synth and drum machine work-outs with his jacking take on forwards, while pixelord and the hotly tipped gerry read take the track mustard tiger in two very different directions on the flip. the digital release sees the talented new boy blacksmif and hit and hope regular naive machine add their respective twists to round off the release.
wow! what a year the wolf music crew are having. every release gets better and better. each time serving up a unique new offering from a variety of artists all with one thing in common: extremely high standard of production. all too often labels release good but not great music but wolf music is a testament to what searching high and low for the freshest artists with the best skills can really achieve. wolf ep 009 is no different. one often talks about real class produces and labels and buzz names and the next big thing … but only do a handful of labels ever live up to the manufactured hype they seem to receive. wolf music not only lives up to it but indeed outshines it. this ep is a must have for any dj/music connoisseur who truly knows their trade.
deeply rooted in underground house disco & soul, wolf music have forged an identity for themselves as one of the hottest labels to keep your eye on in 2010. next up is the back from the future ep - again the wolf music boys give us 4 killer tracks from some of the hottest names around including croatian super producer ilija rudman (greg wilson is a big fan), up & coming talent from the north of england cottam, wolfs very own greymatter & detroits krl rounds things off in style...
