elliot adamson knows how good he is, which is equally as daunting as it is impressive. i’ve known him since he was the eager beaver barman at a place i’d play regularly in my hometown, who used to try and stick his demos under my nose, and now he seems poised for world domination with a who s who of the worlds biggest djs singing his praises. i’m so pleased i listened to those demos when i did. elliot has a startling breadth and depth of taste for someone of such tender years (although to be honest, people only mention other peoples youth when they feel like they’re getting old themselves). the ep elliot has provided for me me me covers a range of vibes which can be traced through mid 90s house, millennial techno and that current and contemporary feel that we’re all still struggling to name adequately. elliot is a real talent and i couldn’t be happier to provide a platform for what i feel is his most esoteric work to date, and a worthy showcase of his real capabilities.

ali kuru is one of those rare producers whose music sounds like nothing else around. the istanbul-based artist has spent the best part of a decade honing his trademark style – a fragrant and intoxicating aural brew that combines a myriad of influences with atmospheric field recordings and snaking, mind-altering middle eastern instrumentation – via releases for the likes of luxa flex, kalisah, sound architecture and, most recently, leng.
it’s to the latter label that the publicity-shy producer returns with his most ambitious release to date, egzotik. 15 tracks and 70 minutes deep, it’s not so much a debut album as a statement of intent. from start to finish, it feels like a humid, sweat-soaked saunter through the winding streets of istanbul in the company of a musician who draws more inspiration than most from his immediate surroundings.

jaxx madicine is a jazz-funk inspired house ish outfit from milan consisting of turbojazz (local talk, gamm records), parker madicine (heist, bastard jazz brooklyn, ct-hi records) and the talented jazz keyboardist veez_0 . with an organic and melodic sound collage you can hear influences from classic 70 s jazz-funk labels and artists like cti, mizell brothers, kudu and bob james but also the current sounds of kaidi tatham, byron the aquarius and harvey sutherland. on this their first ep you get three amazing tracks that all are made with a genuine love for analogue synthesizers, fender rhodes, clavinets and some soulful mpc programming...

since the beginning we can see an evolution in jose ricos music. his sound is now more powerful than ever and the structure of his tracks have gained in complexity. the rhythms of his tracks, highly influenced by chicago house and detroit in his earlier releases, now are looking at the european 90 s electronica and dub music, slowing down (even more) the tempo. we can say that the his last releases on into the the deep and off minor are probably his best works and most mature, so far. de&#769,,ja&#768,, vu, the 11th downbeat installment, continues to explore this route. here we find four emotional and spacey tracks, made by old synths and samplers which takes us back to the early 90 s.

primitive trust is the coming together of two experienced musical minds. in one corner is will saul of the influential aus music empire, and in the other is tom mangan, aka tee mango, the producer who started millionhands record and clothing label. the pair met many moons ago and reconnected recently at a festival in morocco. they bonded over music, lunch and shared family travails - and as they both now live in somerset decided a little local studio collaboration seemed all but essential. between them, these consumate country gentlemen have seen plenty a musical styles come and go, so decided their best route forward would be to make music to please themselves. to that end, they holed themselves up in tee mangos woodshed studio with the following ground rules: they would make music only with the gear they had (mpc 2000, ableton, roland 101, juno, fender rhodes, various fx pedals) they would trust their instincts and go with first feelings they would embrace the joy of randomness if in doubt they would ask what would carl do? with that, you have the simple but effective mo of primitive trust. these sessions have resulted in a series of three eps to be released over the course of four months. each ep will feature 2 or 3 original tracks and one fresh remix, with unique artwork and an illustration by all-around visual auteur geoff mcfetridge. using the building blocks of house, and classic techno primitive trust can do zoned out and romantic, as much as driving and heady, but with an ease that comes from experience, years in the making. while tipping their proverbial hats to the past they also look to the future with their sound, mixing samples, wigged out synthwork and propulsive rhythms to create something honest and heartfelt that will stand the test of time

time for a little neck bulging, slimy skin hip-slinking summer fun as a true craftsman steps from the studio shadows: jay shepheard, who’s back with a track that’s so infectious if you licked its back you’d trip for weeks. prepare yourselves for ‘bullfrogging’: wry funk, warmth and humanised technoid soul. taking a vocal texture then processing, harmonising and splicing the spawn out of it, jay’s precision balance of electronic hustle and anthromorphised action has all the hallmarks for a summer anthem. ‘early doors’ follows suit and there’s a massive clue in the title… soft-focused, warm, rolling and laced with textured chimes, it’s definitely tailored for those key transitions between warm-up and second gear. deep, trippy but coded with a hookiness that grabs rather than soothes, once again it’s classic shepheard but with a revitalised 2017 twist. hey, he didn’t lock himself away in the studio for twelve months for nothing, right? neither did jay’s long-time friend and neighbour mark henning, a man who hasn’t taken on a remix since the early 2010s. his return to the remix game is as poignant and powerful as jay’s return to releases as he removes around 70 percent of the frog and maximises the bullishness of the elements, creating a relentless tribal slammer of a version that still retains the warmth and soul of jay’s original. two returns to action, three killer tracks, one label you can always count on as your friend and no frogs harmed during the whole process. we’re pulling out some serious stops here.

gidge is a production duo consisting of jonatan nilsson and ludvig stolterman. based in the northern parts of sweden, gidge quickly built a solid fan base with releases of their albums autumn bells, lnlnn and lulin. the music of gidge seems to affect their audience in an emotional way, which eventually resulted in the duo taking the top spot as best new artist at xlr8rs readers poll, as well as having the 3lps ending up on numerous end of year lists. their main source of inspiration is the vast, snow-covered woodlands of the north. gidge have for instance recorded all of their percussions in the forest, using only the sticks and rocks that can be found there. for seoul though came about after the duo went on a trip through asia, and spent a number of days in the south korean capital. they fell in love with seoul, and later on created this two-part hymn for the giant city. applescal created a remix for the track, which you can listen on the b side.

the people in fog are back on sov! as smooth sky blue colour cat can represent, this ep has a smoother beat than the artists usual style. if you remember their previous ep with a darker colour, now the punching kick and identical house bass are gone and this ep is true showing off the producer s ability as a musician who can adapt to any kind of diversity. the first track last song has deep bass and atmospheric sounds, like a typical romanian loop, but after the long trippy beat when the piano sounds kick in, the atmosphere changes and brings back the emotion. the second track get funky is also truly hybrid version of house, while the combination of funky vocals and the endless hi-hat and shaker keep the groove tight and the deep down pad sounds mixed smoothly with the forest of beat make for a truly a unique character. the last track alright is a very joyful one, even though it uses a typical funky house vocal sample. its unique way of playing percussion and vocal keep the groove totally all-right

following the ‘frequency vs atkins – mind merge lp’ (march 2017), featuring the collaboration between orlando voorn and juan atkins, italian label out-er (out electronic recordings) welcomes long standing detroit producer terrence dixon for a 21 track triple vinyl pack ‘12.000 miles of twilight’, out in july 2017. this is dixon’s fifth album and follows his last ‘badge of honor’ released back in 2013. the legend has been putting out material since the mid -nineties. recognized worldwide for his visionary, futuristic sound, dixon unites ages of inspiration traversing diverse musical styles including electro, jazz and minimal sci-fi techno. this overall hypnotic approach can also be seen in his parallel project population one, which appeared on out-er respectively in early 2016 with two-tracker solo ‘temporary insanity ep’, as well as in late 2016 with ‘temporary insanity remixes’ which saw the label offering reinterpretations from cosmin trg, pangaea, voiski and label co-founder simone gatto. ‘12.000 miles of twilight’ remains an experimental techno asset offering a non-linear, emotionally absorbing journey into the singular experimental edge of the detroit artist, pulling the listener in all kind of directions from the opening track to the closing finale.

uk producer martin jenkins needs no introduction. under his more commonly known aliases (pye corner audio, head technician, and more), he has mystified fans with his unique brand of synthesist nostalgia with numerous releases on ghost box, more than human, and further records. for this special 12-, martin revisits his past influences and crafts his first techno record. his fine-tuned programmer and production skills blind us with these 4 tracks of stomping dance floor killers. it s a totally new thing for martin and can be best described as straight up techno utilizing the pye corner audio sound palette. dive in and get lost. that 4th track!

medical records in collaboration with our friends at crispy nuggets blog are happy to reissue a very obscure australian gem from the 1980s. ironing music were a three piece band from brisbane. they originally formed in 1984 as a result of their collective love for new order, human league and eventually jean michel jarre and cabaret voltaire. comprised of bass and electic guitar, yamaha dx-7, melodica and an 808, they recorded a 12- single as their sole outpt in 1985 in a limited run of 250 copies (obviously excruciatingly rare now!). it was recorded in their bedroom studio with at teac 4 track. the video clip for the -hit- shopping bag women was played on several national and local television music shows. they also recorded demos in hopes of landing a lp deal which unfortunately didn t attract any takers at the time. they actually only played 3 gigs and were forced to disband after one of their members fell ill in 1986. the lp presented here included the original 4 track single as well as hand picked demos which nicely congeal to form a well rounded lp documenting the band s brief existence. they can best be described as lo-fi synth pop with an emphasis on excellent pop songs and interesting synth/instrument arrangements. the first track shopping bag women is infectiously catchy and just screams to be worn out in the club. fans of early to mid 80s synth pop and new romantic will fall in love. the tracks have been lovingly remastered by martin bowes at the cage, london. features original reproduction of the front cover painting. presented in a limited edition on 180gram vinyl.

aufgenommen wurden die 13 songs von »a fever you can’t sweat out« in den somd! studios in college park, maryland. für die produktion zeichnete matt squire (good charlotte, the used, taking back sunday) verantwortlich.
das album wurde ein kommerzieller erfolg. die zweite singleauskopplung »i write sins not tragedies« schaffte es in den usa bis in die top 10 der charts.

a very rare lp originally released in 1983 has made its way to soundway and been mastered with the utmost care. the only known recorded album by the band, it also features the track “fella’s doing it in lagos” which was included on and inspired the name for soundway’s hit compilation in 2016. band members: austing d. ilukhor, charles chiagoro, geofrey ochiagha, hawly adeyefa jnr, klesye edward doja, shola damole, stanley ifejoku.

todh teri announces the launch of its debut release,with a limited vinyl only edition. todh teri is the revival of the golden era in indian cinema. its the resurgence of indian disco, funk & cabaret from the 70s , 80s & 90s. deep in india vol.1 goes back to its homegrown roots and gives us three classic gems. each edit retaining its original flavor & a little something more to take to the dance floor.todh teri polishes off each track with a signature groove if its own. ten seconds into an edit and you are deep in india! in the past, todh teri has brought this style of music to berlin’s clubs like rummelsbucht & wilde renate. the act is scheduled to showcase in july at sispyhos, berlin & set for a very special live debut at wilde renate, this august. in an interview with todh teri, red bull said - indian artists have been loath to touch anything bollywood and understandably so… step in todh teri who wants to connect the lost world of indian disco with western club sounds. teri understands that most indian artists are (or were) not sure about edits, because without proper execution, they can be easily clubbed as mainstream bollywood remixes.
