FEEDBACK FROM THE CITY
12 Inch
05.09.07
they say patience is a virtue, and neil has certainly bided his time well, but this exquisite release indicates that as neil wisely chooses his production partners and collaborators, we can expect plenty more where this has come from. neils always been one to favour quality over quantity, but just hold on and there will be more superbly crafted slices of electronic soul around the corner, we promise.
MAS QUE NADA
12 Inch
05.09.07
mas que nada must be one of the biggest summer anthems of all time, if not the biggest of them all, with countless covers and versions recorded and released over the years. if you have been searching for the definitive version to play this summer and many summers to come, look no further, as hollands hottest house producer gregor salto has created a version that not only puts his own fantastic production skills in the limelight, but also showcases the wonderful helena mendes, who delivers an amazing interpretation of jorge ben’,s original. gregors respect to the master mix is what can only be described as a perfect summer record, and it works as well by the pool at sundown as on the floor at 2am. gregor is fusing favela funk style beats, batucada percussion with helena mendes soft but yeat energetic latinjazz, and with this deadly combination of styles, he has created a solid dancefloor monster. straight up summer madness! with this release on slip n slide, ericke repays the favour and delivers a storming club mix that combines latin driven electro house beats with balearic piano chords that works beautifully with the vocals and keeps the ibiza vibe of gregors version. further remixes on this package comes from hollands dj madskillz and spains jesse garcia, who with releases on roger sanchez stealth label amongst others is carving a name out for himself as the self styled king of tribal house.
THE QUAKE
12 Inch
04.09.07
the quake has a completely fresh sound, not strictly breaks, house or electro, but possessing elements of all 3 genres, its about the groove, warm synth work and the phonat style cut up female vox. splank! favourite malente provides the remix action for this single. having released the 2 & only on splank! last year alongside sometime production cohort (lars) moston, this year has also seen malente release his fourth studio album on unique records how can you still stand to stand still, and more recently he has remixed coburn. the remix takes a 4/4 route, as malente keeps many of the original parts, but re arranges them into his original production style, and creates an absolute monster that goes into overdrive after the drop.
EXODO EP
12 Inch
04.09.07
supported by brett johnson, woody, dj t, chris duckenfield and laurent garnier !! >the last shooter< uses mind bending funk to tell the story of three people ending an epic day/night in a blaze of jagermeister glory. the most descriptive element of this tracky adventure would be the misguided, off kilter synth twists that give the listener the illusion of drunkenness and vertigo. backed with a spine of latin percussion and tweaked low rez hi hats this a side packs a punch that can be only compared to >the last shooter< of the night.funk flows on when you flip it to side b. fongtom rides along with a thick walking bass line that weaves grinds with some of ferreyras signature percussion. a playful melody serves as the memory game hook that wont fade away even after a post joint meltdown or a night of mtv top 40 abuse

2x12 Inch
30.08.07
the term legend is applied to many djs and producers without credence, louie vega is one of the elite few who truly warrant the title. from the latin influences that shaped the early stages of his career, through his inspired partnership with kenny dope gonzalez as master at work, to his winning a grammy in 2006, louie vega is one of the true pioneers of house music. here, louie takes you on a personal journey through the music of his life, entwining salsa, jazz, samba, funk and soul into the house lead beats and grooves, producing a mix more than worthy of his fêted ability. this is house music at its very finest
SPIRITS OF LIFE
12 Inch
29.08.07
return of the cocoon-proof techno don! some phat business from jaceks underwater lab - yet another exercise in his very own concept of combining minimal groove with maximal sound spectrum. and it works: solid mid-tempo rhythm carries what seems to be a thousand of layers of sound. meaty, bouncing bass stabs intertwine with washes of synthetic melodies, while percussion drops and unidentified samples swirl around in this bio-robotic monster of a tune. >green river< takes jaceks minimal obsession into cold outer space, where you can hear the planets spin and the only hope seems to be coming from a dying communication device... cold, stark and haunting, this is either work of a madman or truly the future now

THERAPY EP
12 Inch
20.08.07
peter has already graced numerous labels with his unique yet constantly evolving studio style. after numerous afterhour situations with the doc family, we caught wind of grummichs new productions. we believe that the therapy ep continues the development of peters uncompromising underground productions. the title track, therapy, is a nine-minute journey into dancefloor dynamics. slowly building with concentrated breaks, therapy works it out and then some. label boss, aaron hedges, has been giving it heavy dj support and has found that its been quite some time since well placed hat crashes can drive an audience crazy. minimal, sexy and sleek, but at 7 minutes the listener is surprised with a full on new-rave lead which takes the song in a different direction. get it is a nice tech-house track with building percussive patterns and highly concentrated synth breakdowns. this track is only for the most sophisticated house djs that know when to drop a track like this. drymilk is a seriously twisted hard minimal track. nasty sound effects and perplexing pitch shifts will keep you guessing. is it genius or insanity? you be the judge!

supported by gusgus, markus lange, nudisco, alex flatner, leigh morgan.... >waters< with its pure melody and throbbing groove reminds of an mid-nineties techno classic, which represents a period of unforgotten music. pierces captivating remix put the original in ultra-modern musical context. this is the perfect version for a drifting-away closing tune. with >undisputed< henneberg reveals his other side of studio-work. you can call it minimal with soul
MORE FLUFF
12 Inch
13.08.07
if zox was a sculptor, his works would be angled and polished, simple and magically effective. no sound on this record (which is called >more fluff<, which astonishes me) hangs around too long between the acrylic clear beats, the square waves are bellied and cold as vodka from an iceberg, the higher frequencies refreshingly cool as hills in the highlands, and straight lines are the dominating theme by far. this is dance music in itself. the basses live in rich bounteousness which is strictly controlled, though. why boom it when you can bang it? perfect shapes, functional beauty and a refreshing taste will rock you.

public service message: from the pale horizon of the calm world, here emerges critical tension. product of his society, henry the white collar goes through a crisis. today henry is nervous, negotiating the heave and shove between fear and his uncontrolable urges, and this is his music when he does. we, the producers, are his fantasy. does it hurt or is it good? can you make him relieve his debt? after two releases on sound of barclay, and a hit (sink) on yvan smagghes compilation (suck my deck) released on react, and the famous cover of lios amoureux solitaires featuring jennifer cardini on kill the dj, henry is back with a dodgy 10 inch no punk, no electro - this is wobble

dont be fooled by the plural >boys.< alexander ridha, 24, is just one man and he can do it all on his own. nobody, however, would argue about the >noize< part. as a kid he taught himself to play the drums and piano, started to write his first songs when he was 12, and at the age of 16, discovered his love for programming and producing. his music and productions have excited massive interest from artists like soulwax, justice, erol alkan and the rapture and labels such as kitsuné, ed banger, fatboy slim s skint, dj hells intl gigolo and tigas turbo rec - to name a few. daft punk have sent him their love via myspace and his remixes of depeche mode, feist, british indie anthems >banquet< by bloc party and >everyday i love you less and less< by kaiser chiefs have thrilled global djs and crowds all over the world.

big with: dan curtin, gregor tresher, karotte, thomas schumacher, monika kruse.... fresh fried is a new project by chris wood, nedzad berovic and frank leicher. nedzad and frank have already made furore with their release on balkon records. the aside >50 ways< starts with an organic housegroove. during the song a minimal melody originates, which comes to its climax because of a clever arranged break and a pad that sounds like the old detroit tracks. hands up on every open air floor ! the b-side includes the titel >on my mind< in two different versions: chris b1 version shows us how deep beats and tricky vocals can work together, and comes after a short break with a warm baseline to a house appeal that stayes in your mind... the version from berovic & leicher is a little bit harder and more minimal. because of nice arranged beats and the drifting baseline this track has to be played at the clubs

after a successful label launch with eps by tigerskin and spektre heimatmelodie now presents an all new artist, alfredo clonk. and this guy is one to watch as he has a completely original sound aesthetic, something which you can say of only very few artists. the a-side >doppelkorn< (a german high percent alcoholic drink) is a primetime mixture of driving 909 beats, whissping snaredrums and groovy sequences which spontaneously bring the slogan >rave is back!< to your mind. a bit deeper appears b1, >back to bombay<, a dark bass-synth on a techy percussion basement puts the dancers into a relaxed groove
after the release of the second single by solee, here comes the next top tune out of the parquet recordings camp. it s dejonka, who already released on labels like klang gymnastik, hammarskjoeld, karate musik and bikini tracks with –memento-. this track is a pure high-energy dancefloor burner. the kicking beat, the funky bassline and the dirty electro sounds create a groove that nobody can resist on the floor. a true sure-shot for the peaktime! ryan davis & lanny may use the strongest elements of the original adding some minimal beats and sounds to create a new underground flavour. yassin & arne create a true minimal-techno masterpiece creating a nice bubbling synthie melody out of the original harmonies. again a great package with remixes for every flavour and occasion!

rmxs by etienne de crecy & proxy – essential 12inch !! …new single called tenderoni......i love the song. makes me dance. killer bassline, serious groove. groove. funk. groove. yeah! its my second fave on the album. mixed by zdar. its a funk bomb. theres that word again. we needed remixes and we spent so much time on it....oh man, its soooo annoying! why isnt there just a machine you can drop the track into and it comes out with remixes.i should list all the people that almost did remixes..... we got proxy to remix it, cuz hes russian and on turbo, and hes the future, and it was a great way to hype him up and save some cash.....but that does not mean that the mix is a compromise... in fact it is my favorite remix in ages....total rave-pop-bomb. i love it so much.... but maybe it could have been louder. i also think this is proxys first ever remix....a piece of legitimate musical history can be yours for under 10euros

summer mega-ton-bomb – sure shot!! balearic is a word which few people really understand. it can mean whatever you want it to mean, but it has always been vaguely associated with ibiza, hippies, deep tropical dance music, and british football hooligans who grew hair, showered less, and became djs. but forget those 90s british for now, there that feels better! with this special release, which we have kept quarantined on its own tuning spork extra label, we are bringing you that balearic vibe with a deep and dubby 00s house music twist. and for us, this is the record of the summer. so prepare yourself for a massive collaboration project from the social beings. this is not some duo youve never heard of, in fact its label boss jay haze (fuckpony / bearback / krak street boyz) and his friend, modern day techno legend ricardo villalobos… one piece of information which is true, unlike those ones, is that haze and villalobos are now huge figures in the house and techno world. and they are indeed social beings

big one for all the italo and cosmic disco heads!! >satellites are spinning< is an amazing disco oddysey which kicks off with a patrick cowley like electric bassline and the builds slowly. more and more synths are laid down to ensure for a mighty climax half way true when the lead melody kicks in. on the b-side we have this amazing vocal booguie tune called >u cant help but dance.< this can be compared with a moodymann meets theo parrish meets dexter wansel kinda song. whatever this may be, rest assured this nugget moves booty when dropped in the club. this awesome package ends with an electronic p-funk track called >zweap.< the mighty linndrum computer reminds of earlier prince productions and the crazy synths sound like amp fiddler playing on another dirty and energetic george clinton meets parliament gig
shadow dancer is paul farrier from manchester. for his first release on bnr he produced 4 quality tracks that show that there is an uk answer to mr. oizo vs. sebastian. but it s more then that! all of the 4 tracks are rather smart & banging, a dancefloor friendly version of electronica then obvious hits. you can hear that his biggest influences are warp & autechre and he just started to teach kids a new way of dancing. you should go and party to one of his live sets hes doing together with his brother. this ep will definitely surprise! for fans of: mr. oizo, warp, sebastian, jackson, boys noize already supported by: 2manydjs, ed bangers, boys noize

brill deep minimal detroit techno (dub) a la hardwax / basic channel... b2 track >minus< is actually a re-release from the 1998 >ll001< single, long out of print. since there was a steady (nearly monthly) request to make this track available again, it has been remastered and included to match the other tracks on this single. the aim of this release is to prove that a certain approach to composing and sequencing with particular sound can end in a timeless production. at the end of this process it should be standing against the times, playable in 1989, 1997, 2007 or still in 2020. individual production methods or media stay behind, as the artistic vision of shaping and mastering the sound come thru. already playing on heavy rotation in berlins clubs by local djs who got whitelabels or cdrs, this 12inch will once more become a classic to people who dont look for hype or trendy fashion but lasting sound quality.
