our second artist ep comes by way of austrian producer, markus quittner, who joins forces with his hoover the house crew for one deliciously deep record.

this record is the result of a series of memorable studio sessions with my friends. especially made for cahoots records, nightside contains four sophisticated underground house tracks. each one is produced with much love and attention.-

following the success of ‘ride’ with miss kittin, eminent sci+tec founder dubfire returns with another chaos-conjuring techno composition. previously the sole-preserve of his epic sense-blurring hybrid show, dubfire is finally unleashing ‘dust devil’… his first solo release in several years, ‘dust devil’ is all about precision momentum. a move that dubfire’s made his signature, you can physically feel movement and destination throughout. especially as we reach the short breakdown where the riff revolves faster and higher, providing space for the echoed stabs that whirl and twist around you intensely. as the drums re-ignite, the riff is suddenly converted into groove energy as the jack-minded persistence brings the elements back together with pure focus. this is what ali has to say… “this was an instrumental i had done that i wasn’t quite sure what to do with. it wasn’t strong enough for a lead single and it always felt as though there was something missing, perhaps a spoken or sung vocal. so i sort of put it out of my mind until it was time to compile the music for the hybrid show back in the summer of 2013. once i had the backbone of the set list, along with the visual look, there seemed to be a more defined mood and look. and when i happened upon this track again it seemed to have been tailor-made for this show. it was also nice to insert something no one had heard before to break things up a bit.

the second release from producer eomac’s new dublin-based label eotrax comes from nomadic irish producer lair. this is an exciting step for the label, moving away from the dancefloor into more diverse, eclectic territory. lair is a producer far from the norm, especially for those releasing on an electronic music label. she classifies herself as a composer, producer, vocalist, artist, sound-healer and yoga teacher. with a diverse background that includes singing classical and traditional material shes expanded her artistic approach into a diverse web-like multi-disciplinarian approach in keeping with her nomadic life. currently she creates electronic music, contemporary classical music and healing music under a variety of alias including laura kilty and luminousounds (for healing music). she is also in the duo noeverything with eomac. in her words my lair music is how i see the world - this one and others channeled - expressed through layers of my vocals which i shape electronically. the music has elements of mysticism, sacred geometry, energy, sound with intention and just sounds i love formed to make music i love. i see music as i create it. i work with lots of layers - for me its like creating an aural representation of the image i see. these layers of sound can be found in her debut self-titled ep in the deep, ritualistic drones of invoke and meld on the a-side, and the more concise rhythmical patterns of searching in circles on the flip.

bottom forty s fifth release and second vinyl press showcases two french producers living and banging the drums in berlin, a long time bottom forty favorite, la fraicheur, teamed up with veteran producer and leonizer record label ownerleonard de leonard. la fraicheur, a producer of emotional and story-telling minimal techno, is seen here paired with leonard de leonard to turn up the heat on our first club-banger release track, -afraid of the groove-. la fraicheur and leonard de leonard beat the hell out of their analog elektron to lay out a relentless whipping melody that demands a twirling dance floor while a classic minimal bass line, rhythm and -she s uh-fraid of the groove- sample keep this track dark, dirty and underground. in a beautiful contrast to the heart-pounding a-side, flip to the b-side for -une place au soleil-. literally translated as -a place in the sun-, the saying is more about conveying the emotion of your hard work is putting you in a good place in life . -une place au soleil- is a gorgeous deep house track filled with teasingly melodic stabs and subtle hardware sounds that come and go, crashing on the record like powerful but soothing waves on the hot beach sands. while -afraid of the groove- may twist a peak-hour dance floor into a frenzy, -une place au soleil- will entrance them in the after hours, reminding dancers why electronic music is so beautiful and why dance floors can carry so much emotional release.

moscow based multi-talent impish has been steadily honing his skills since 2013 working through labels such as program, fokuz recordings and his own fast rising occulti music imprint. it s that last label that saw him release the critically acclaimed silence lp back in 2016. fast forward to the summer of 2017 and a new album project the hush lp is set for release through all quality physical electronic music outlets around the world.

damon yates, aka martianman, set up 4th planet recordings to release music by people which includes some of his more favorite artists. artist that simply need to have more music released. it involves the same basic idea that he had when starting up the martianman volumes which is to release original, high quality jungle with a completely underground feel. not only the bass and drums are important for the vibes but the whole feel of the music is in play. it can be completely futuristic sounding or full of old school vibes though out. however it’s served up just know that it is underground.

not an animal records was formed in 2015 out of the ashes of the london-based party bad passion, and has thus far welcomed the likes of man power, ess o ess and eric duncan to release on the label. now they turn to james hadfield, a relatively new producer previously spotted on to rack & ruin and me me me. on this four-tracker he deals in brooding synthwave tones mixed with classic jack track rhythms. literate is just the kind of taut, sinister club creeper we can t get enough of, while buried answers takes a skippier but no less moody approach. on the remix front, jamie blanco takes the prize, turning buried answers- into a bombastic slice of driving synth pop.

monosoul is back on tieffrequent with 4 timeless and classical cuts focussed on the important elements of housemusic...with love for the dancefloors, clubs and basements of this universe... on the a-side you have „make em match“, a rough and steady house-groove containing a constantly bouncing bassline, a deep chord-pattern, a complex percussion-cluster and a well infixed electric piano...all elements are perfectly balanced, finalized and formed to a completed floorfiller. then there is „monument street“ after which the ep was named. starting really deep and minimalistic it developes to an impulsive und powerful song. organic pads, pulsating deep chords, a rhythmic bassline and well arranged drums make „monument street“ flowing impressively from start to finish. the b-side starts up with „hot concrete“, a blazing, drum-driven basement-groover. with a sharp deepchord which is wrapped-up in several padsound-patterns, monosoul creates a very own athmosphere. in combination with an impulsive bassline and a distinct percussion- ensemble „hot concrete“ beats time on the floor noticeably. finally „life on the red island“ as the perfect final track brings the „monument street ep“ to an end. it builds up by adding small bits and pieces very subtly to a point you recognize a pulsative deephouse beauty. the remarkable bassline and the concise and bouncing kickdrum are casted in a flowing deep sounded carpet full of hope. „life on the red island“ disappears to where it came from and leaves you with strong impressions. the „monument street ep“ gives an insight into monosoul s impressive understanding and definition of house music which you can hear on 4 tracks loud and clear...thank you!

fresh from the success of their ‘past / present / future’ release, we march on, with berlin-based italian christopher ledger the man responsible for their label’s 41st release. the ‘percezione and retrospettiva’ ep sees ledger in flying form, as he props up with two dexterous, thoughtfully executed records that speak volume of his ability to craft atmospheric sounds. opening up the release is the sounds of ‘retrospettiva 2’, a future leaning techno jam that again wonderfully fits the brouqade aesthetic. clearly indebted to sci-fi spheres, this one is very much cut from a detroit cloth, with a steely finesse that lurks from the get go. a track that brings the listener on an endless journey, it comes some deep harmonic vibes. all things told, this is an ep of various contrasting sounds, ledger’s debut for brouqade is a stunning example of what can happen when producers think outside the box. the b side consists of ‘percezione attiva’. harmonic, blissful tones abound throughout, made all the more meaningful by a slew of gentle, melancholic piano chords that really pull on the heartstrings. a light and hazy experimental piece, the track forces parallels with other masters of suspense. culminating with a more traditional 4/4 vibe, this unusual turn only enhances the producer’s standing as a man willing to take risks.

german techno champ alex cortex hasnt released an album since 2011 s kihon on pomelo, but the prolific and long-serving artist is rarely resting on his laurels. having released just one other ep from lowtec, blundar now presents a new untitled lp from cortex that should satisfy fans of his leftfield approach to techno in all its forms. track 2 is a masterclass in how to work breakbeats into techno without sounding forced or false, while track 4 blooms from delicate ambience to snagging broken beat with the grace you can only find with such a seasoned vet. spanning many moods, tempos and rhythms, this is a perfect demonstration of the many engrossing approaches cortex can attempt and succeed at within the many-sided realm of techno

from time to time, you hear an ep and instantly can sense that it’s going to be significant. sad girl seasonal affective disorder does what few manage to do - it tells us not only a story from different perspectives but describes the journey of the heart and mind when losing someone we love - the conflicting emotions when we hurt and the evolution of emotions we experience as we heal. it achieves this by using a rich and diverse collection of sounds as its vocabulary, and a brilliant integration and structure as its grammar. also, this strategy manages to give each track its unique character, allowing them to stand on their own.

a selection of forgotten demos by band hymn, active 1981-1984, with multi-talented musician and post-punk pioneer lucas trouble (†2016) in the lineup. dition of 400 numbered copies. hand stamped sleeve. includes insert with photos, artwork and liner notes. all the tracks were originally self-released as demo tapes in a very limited run. their first work, coming home, was published in 1983, and the second one, too many lies, in 1984. both of them were distributed by the band themselves. shortly after, they released a more widely known 12” ep, tired (nova express, 1984), with a different line-up and noticeably more rock-oriented. definers of a totally genuine sound, hymn were coevals to the underground-synth-post-punk movement that surfaced in france in the early eighties, easily recognisable today via cult labels such as bain total and invisible/scopa records, with stunning releases by experimental references like ilitch, philippe doray or incontinents.

florian kupfer, after a string of prestigious releases on ron morelli’s l.i.e.s. and russian torrent versions imprints, willie burns w.t. records, rush hour and ninja tune’s technicolour sub-label (lest not forget that white label sade bootleg), returns with a three track ep on private persons.
this 12 inch tells us the story of the beginning of florian’s career - his travels, dreams and of course love. title track “post present”, recorded for the first time five years ago get’s its first cut into wax. eerie, other-worldly voices reach over a kicking, distinctively kupfer-esque rhythm track. “i can’t love life without u” is a dub drive through retro-futuristic heartbreak and “&#1051,,,&#1102,,,&#1073,,,&#1086,,,&#1074,,,&#1100,,,” an ambient tip into the subconscious.

thomas schumacher is finally back on noir music with another outstanding 2-tracker. over the years me and thomas have become great friends as we click on so many levels and share the same taste in dark, melancholic and emotional music. i have been a big fan of thomas’ music for many years and i am still a great supporter of his productions today so obviously i am honored to release his music on my label again. on these 2 tracks thomas has recorded 2 authentic and raw tracks with a no holding back, zero bulls*** attitude. you can hear the “no formular” approach on both and i love that. we had an honest and creative back and forth a&r process on both tracks before and after testing them in the clubs and this has given both a unique and fresh techno sound. this is thomas schumacher’s natural rhythm.

tone depth has been making music for many years but he doesnt seem to get older...... he just gets better and better. this is his 2nd release on noir music and i can assure you there’s more to come in the near future. “escape” contains 3 instrumental and very intense tracks. they are all cleverly build for the underground floors. they each have their own special signature and carry that powerful tone depth production level. each track on this ep immediatley made me “escape” into the music, took me on a journey and captivated my attention throughout the running minutes of each piece. i have been playing these tracks since the day i received them track by track and they really do grow on you (play for play) like great music always tend to do.

finally the third release for red rooster records. like the second one, we are talking about a various artists e.p.: minimono (fabio della torre and ennio colacci) is an italian duo born in florence in 1997. in 2008 fabio and ennio founded their own label -bosconi records- where they released their first album in 2010. now minimono works with robsoul records, vibraphone and other very good label from all over the world. dj rou is parts of the project called homequest, a real crew of artists made in bologna, we can also find his music on robsoul jazz, bosconi extra virgin or flexi cuts. memoryman aka uovo is one of the famous pastaboys, he has a long story that starts with the label manocalda, he worked with a lot of big artists from the main house scene and he did a lot of records with the bests labels. d’arabia, class 1991, is the owner of red rooster records and this is the third release for him, surely not the last.

originally released in 1986, “alkaid” was the first solo release of deca following his debut appearance on the cult various artists compilation “angelo segreti” the original edition was published in a tiny edition on the independent italian label videoradio and to this day remains a rare and sought after album. following mothball and bordello’s continued work with deca, we are proud to make this diverse and fascinating collection of music available to a wider audience. on this instrumental lp we can hear elements of modern classical, synth-pop, dark ambient and even some middle eastern influence.
