its no secret that in recent years brazil has become a breeding ground of sorts for dirtybird talent, and two artists at the top, bruno furlan & dj glen, come together for the massive another planet ep. truly sounding like they were made in a studio from a different world, both the title tracks and the flip side, ducking, will stop your feet in your tracks when you hear it, and then get them going full speed when it comes back end. colossal basslines, mammoth breakdowns and a bunch of extra terrestrial sounds and rhythms make this one of our most unique releases of the year, and will surely be on of the biggest.

matthias tanzmann has released countless classic tracks on his leipzig, germany based label moon harbour. in the past he has played at claude vonstrokes birdhouse event in miami and claude always seems to run into him in ibiza. we have always wanted to work with him and then out of the blue a demo showed from on our doorstep! this two tracker has a great, jackin dirtybird sound and we are very happy to welcome matthias to the family.

catz n dogz are some of our oldest extended dirtybird family, spanning multiple eps, a couple albums, some remixes, and we even presented their very first release as catz n dogz as they transitioned from their old 3 channels alias in 2007. its been over 4 years since they ve been on the label, and we re ecstatic to have them back with the feelings factory. fine feelings features the legendary vocalist robert owens, and sounds like a classic deep house track from the late 90 s when no one called it deep house, they just danced to it all night in warehouses. factory settings includes additional production from londons joseph ashworth, and from the first note to the last its filled with driving intensity and an ascending cacophony of rhythms and voices.

our boss claude vonstroke is the busiest guy we know. when hes not traveling the world or curating an event, hes in the studio every day putting in hours upon hours, relentless in perfecting his craft. hes had a slew of hits the past couple years in the form of remixes and collaborations, and now with the walay (my bae) ep, claude gets back to some inventive and somewhat out of the box solo works. the title song leads with a melodic riff and an funky vocal that sounds like a defective cyborg is proclaiming love for his partner, walay. this quasi-human uses the slang my bae to try and pass for human and we almost believe in his passion. the sound harkens back to old classic rave tracks but also pushes very modern production techniques. on the flip, raw nerve is an emotional exploration in both sounds and lyrics. a melancholy vonstroke dives deep into his insecurities and fears with sonically mutated lyrics like im feeling so sad, im feeling real bad today. when i see you on the street i dont want to compete. you can feel the social instability oozing out of the vocal only to come back at the close with a violently hard bassline embodying the personal angst and frustration that goes along with not fitting in.

2016 was a banner year for dirtybirds founder, claude vonstroke. he debuted his get real alias with green velvet in the winter, and followed up with another number one single in the spring with the rain break. he celebrated the 10th anniversary of whos afraid of detroit to kick off the summer, and finished in the fall by being crowned americas best dj by pioneer at a ceremony he shared with all the fans at the dirtybird campout. after a relentless touring schedule the first half of 2017, claude hit the studio with a couple ace producers, will clarke & sébastien v to collaborate on two giant singles for the works well with others ep. tiny tambourine is the product of will clarke & claude working together. its a bit of a misnomer, as tiny is the last word to describe the heavy bassline which starts to form immediately at the tracks outset. continuing to build over crisp and heavy beats and outbursts of drama before dropping back to the burly bassline, the result is monstrous. will clarke has been on a dirtybird hot streak having released 3 solo eps, 5 singles, an appearance on justin martins album, as well as a brand new collab with shiba san on the bbq compilation and a full takeover on the birdhouse radio show. on the flip side, claude teams up with one of dirtybirds freshest talents, sébastien v, for daylight dark room a light, melodic tone contrasts with a dark and funky acid resonance to create a truly unique masterpiece. the mysterious sébastien v was also featured on the dirtybird bbq compilation with his super-hot track funkulate, and there are rumors floating around that he is actually someone from the core dirtybird roster sporting a secret alias.

70% deal , last copies left.... sascha braemer s first record on dirtybird was a very big success gathering support from a wide array of djs. as our very first german artist, we were very happy when he sent over this super hot follow-up ep. true to dirtybird style both tracks on the ep are thematic, but these also show some restraint, not getting too silly or gimmicky with the themes. grounded in heavy funk kick drum grooves, sascha has delivered another set of bombs for sure. the train grows from a simple solid groove to a massive whistling peak, then back to the deep rooted funk. fly flip is a play on bug sounds, bringing a more laid back vibe to the table. both of the tracks are the kind of thing that could be played in any set from techno to deep house which really says a lot for the universal appeal of sascha s solid beats. we hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

back in 2015 our bearded dirtybird player, will clarke, needed a secret weapon for some of his festival gigs for the summer. he sampled the ghetto house legend, dj funk, who made an appearance on dirtybird back in 2013 for the kill frenzy smash, “make that booty clap”. will passed it on to the rest of the dirtybird crew, and before we knew it the track took a life of it’s own and quickly became one of the most requested tracks, even to this day. will ended up linking with dj funk himself, and they turned what was a quick bootleg into a full blown collaboration. ladies & gentlemen, “booty percolatin’” is officially here. for the flip side, we added will’s solo effort “house girl”, a bumpin’ ride with a contagious bassline and chanting vocals for all the ‘house boys’ and ‘house girls”

april showers bring may flowers, but this april claude vonstroke brings you the rain break. inspired by two different songs from the 80s - (razes classic break for love and oran juice jones the rain), claude has replayed and re-sung all the music from scratch to make a special cover tune of both tracks changed and combined into a surefire dirtybird classic. to quote vonstroke, i kept singing the break for love bassline over and over again in my head but the vocal that always popped in over the top was from the oran juice jones. i cant explain why that happened but i just thought they went together so well that i ran with it.here comes the b is a much weirder affair. built with massive psychedelic effects, a huge kick and almost no hi-hat pattern, this is late night cavemen music at its best. this big release from cvs will have you wishing for a downpour so you can go walking in the rain.

stuck in the 9-5 grind, stifled by the impersonality of constant social media and mobile interaction, contemporary urban life can be suffocating. for a certain breed, release cannot be found in the vast, unpopulated great outdoors. urban animals congregate in heaving warehouses, seeking solace in the liberating beats of the kick drum. they are bound not by association, but through a shared experience of primal relief felt in those shadowy, dance floor corners swelling with the sounds of low end frequencies and brazenly sculpted grooves. this is the urban animals jungle.

dood, the second single from claude vonstrokes forthcoming album, urban animal. dood is inherently dirtybird and the one youve been waiting for if you were expecting something nasty from the project. the heart-squeezing booty-bass-line smacks instantly, while the rumbling drawl of the stoned vocal perfectly encapsulates vonstrokes witty spirit. the track is an homage to the time claude spent in los angeles during the production of the album and really captures the fun, dark edge of that sprawaling so-cal metropolis.

ms. smooth socal soul meets mr. nocal dirtybird swagger and they have a baby together. that baby is justin jay and at 19 years old he is already making his 3rd appearance on dirtybird. i have a feeling this is justin jays breakout record. the a-side static is at 119 bpm and will sweep you up then rip your pants off. but even when you get hit with the massive bassline, an old school anchor stays intact. waves b-side has a classic deep dirtybird feeling, with tuned 808s and a surprising melodic element showing off the sweeter side of this up and coming young gun. justin jay has more potential than anyone i have heard in a while and if he continues to play like he has been lately, he has a long dj career ahead of him as well.

i had dinner with breach in london and he told me: hey, i have a track that is really dirtybird. i would put it out but its really sounding right for you guys. i took this with a grain of salt but then i heard lets get hot and i found out he was right. it has got the swagger and the sound. it makes girls grind their asses into boys crotches on the dancefloor. perfect. signed. so i then asked him to make something even more sexual, thinking it would be ages before i got something back. 10 days later the a-side came back to me as a 2 minute clip while i was on the train to warehouse project in manchester. i liked it so much that i edited it on the train to stretch it out to 5 minute. as expected, it slayed the room and the final version breach has delivered is one of the best records of the year in my opinion. with the simple title of jack you can see for yourself when you play it. this is the real deal. love, vonstroke

french fries delivers two originals on the cutting edge of modern bass. “space alarm” is right up in your face but artfully holds back right when you think it will go over the top. the inside “smoke wine” is more in the vein of last years smash “yo vogue,” yet more understated and deep which is rare for the genre. when i play these at the right time they always solicit an audible “ooooh” from the crowd at thedrops. remix #1 is by justin martin who really blows it up dirtybird style with almost a breakbeat old school electro beat. remix #2 is by dirtybird newcomers goldffinch via belgium who also deliver a really funk laden club version. both remixes are ace and the full release brings a very fresh sound to the label.

i was finishing up a long extended set in paris when the cleckcleckboom crew practically ran into the club to get on the decks. i had hung out with them before but tonight they had all new tracks and an incredible energy. so i stayed past the last ravers just to hear what they would play and that was when i heard “hugz” by french fries and bamabounou. this was a new sound, some nasty nasty shit sitting somewhere between juke and bass music and and i knew we had to get this sound on dirtybird no matter what. needles to say “yo vogue” is hot property and i’m really excited to release it on dirtybird. the half time drop, the chopped and screwed vocal, the stuttering bass kicks, the creepy moog on top - it’s simple and complex at the same time and it wrecks shop whenever it gets played. i did a remix on the b side giving it some db flavor and dirtybird newcomer leroy peppers lays out his own bay area skeeze with hot sauce on top. watch yer bass bins! best, vonstroke.

i first met ben westbeech (breach) at a dinner in london. he was sitting across from me and i found out he made >fatherless< a year ago which interested me right away. we got to chatting and the conversation took an unexpected turn and i heard the following story. as a kid breach grew up in hertford, north of london, where early uk rave pioneers like omni trio and 2 bad mice where from. his dad was friends with 2 bad mice and was surrounded by musicians and djs. 2 bad mice had a friend called paul, aka dj cra$y. he used to make tunes back in the early rave days but sadly did too many pills and went mad. when paul was taken into mental care his old dat format tapes got left at breachs dads house. 20 years later, breach found them in the garage in and old box marked music. he started listening through and found some cool old jungle vibes going on. the tracks >just e< and >i need you< are remixes of two of the tracks found on the old dj cra$y recording sessions… these are a rare hybrid crossover records between jungle and house and they are massive. so peace to dj cra$y wherever you are and respect to breach for putting these together. best, vonstroke.

continuing the amazing bristol / san francisco connection that we started with julio bashmore a couple years ago, dan eats everything has come out guns blazing with a multitude of hot tracks in 2011. but i feel like db059 is going to be eats evertyhings big breakout ep, the one that sets the tone for his career.

south of croydon raised christian sibthorpe (aka a1 bassline) sent over a few things over the last 12 months that really had me paying attention. but it was jessica (j. phlip) ended up being the first one to drop falsehood at the spring dirtybird party in sf which pretty much sealed the deal. it just smashed the room to bits. later on i met christian in person when he helped me do a live radio show at rinse fm in london along with ben westbeech and we agreed there that dirtybird would put these two tracks out.a1 claims to have been heavily influenced by early metalheadz and you can really here it on these tunes. while buoyancy is a smooth pulsing affair that really shines in the deeper mixes, falsehood (which we are re-releasing from a1s tighten up label) really buries the hatched in your brain with bits and pieces of 808s, breaks and house hi-hats all forged together like hot iron.

how do you follow-up last years monster mr.spock? of course with something even more ghetto, more dirty and more fun. lezgo is the 2nd collaboration between justin martin and ardalan, a curious bay area duo of master and apprentice that seems to be magic in the studio. this time they delve deep into the footwork meets house sound delivering cool r&b respites inside mega booty grooves for 3 minutes then letting down the hammer on the kick drum in the finale that kills every time. this is the type of tune that gets everyone moving and smiling and makes you wish you had 10 of them just like it in your bag. i ve played this to every type of crowd from techno chin scratchers to college kids, festival crowds, london know-it-alls, fund raising 40+ year olds, deep house heads, post dubsteppers, basement afterpartiers, hip-hop crews, disco kids and straight up ravers. it works everywhere and thats the sign of a big tune.

this new ep from j. phlip fits that description nicely. deep and dirty with filthy ghetto sample drops. in the 1840s a certain neighborhood in san francisco was nicknamed, the barbary coast. it was described as -the haunt of the low and the vile of every kinda dance-halls and concert-saloons, where blear-eyed men and faded women drink vile liquor, smoke offensive tobacco, engage in vulgar conduct, sing obscene songs and say and do everything to heap upon themselves more degradation, are numerous.- lots of people think they know about sf basslines but only a few actually can pull it off. jessica is one of those people. she is one of my favorite djs on earth and her new ep shows why she fits in so well with at dirtybird. big basslines, quirky ideas, and a general sense of mischief make this ep stick out from all the matchy matchy tracks out there.

these are two of the best t. flynn tracks ive heard. budgie smuggler is a fresh club jam that sounds like deez nuts and keep listening is a red alert, 4 alarm big room only rocker.

the -makeovers- project is a compilation of some of claudes best re-twists, some of which are so far removed they can almost be considered original works. this special edition vinyl includes one of the most sought after remixes, -warpaint- originally by pocket 808 in australia, vonstroke turned this into a late night anthem in 2007. played by techno djs, dubstep djs, and everyone in between this track was never cut to vinyl until now. on the flip side claude remixed the nublu orchestra out of new york. he was never completely happy with the original version of the remix and hes gone back and re-made it into a very special piece of music including a new vocal sample from his wife aundy who also did the vocal effects in whos afraid of detroit? this collection was put together with the theme that a remix can be an inspiring starting point for an entirely new piece of music. these are two of the deeper and darker remixes but we think you agree they are also very special.

the three tracks for this release go through a wide range of our sound. >cyclone< by samuel dan and feygin is a throwback to the way dirtybird records sounded back in 2006, raw and fun with big drums. but >cyclone< sounds amazing compared to the sound quality of some of those old records we all love, a definite update to the old db vibe. b-jus >babbel net< is his follow-up appearance to last years bomb track >my sneakers< that all of us played 1000 times. this is more in the smooth 808 style of dirtybird while still giving you some punch and melody. this record works really well for me and this groove crossover into a house set no problem. last but not least is maelstroms >you play<. this is a real monster, not so much for the house heads but instead for those of you who like to cross genres and explore the bass regions during your sets. definitely not your friendly deep house record this one is a real db banger in the tradition of big dirty bass we love here in san francisco.

db049 is by two of the best new school groove specialists in the game, sascha braemer and philip bader. this is saschas third appearance on dirtybird and phillips first but the two have been friends for many years. both guys have their own amazing labels now (sascha runs supdub and philip runs dantze) so we are very happy to be able to still get a cool record from them on dirtybird. we will leave the title of this >friends and honey ep< up to your imagination but both trax are money in the bank. i welcome our friends from berlin to the san francisco family an we hope to see these two over here in the usa soon on tour.

justin martin was playing somewhere and the typical scenario happened where a couple guys came up and handed him a cd demo. a few weeks later i went on tour with justin and i found myself always asking him what track is that? whenever he played this one cd. he gave it to me and i am happy to say we have our very first south african artists on dirtybird! introducing, the munnibrotherz.

a message from claude vonstroke: >sascha braemer has got the funk! i first heard him on the amazing thrill on kindisch which i charted in my top 3 tracks of 2008. after that i heard the even more amazing heinrichs and hirtenfeller album dark orbit, (my favorite album of 2009) on highgrade. i usually like to break new dirtybird artists but this time i had to go find this guy and beg him to make us something. sascha has got that tech-funk, caveman quality that is so elusive and hard for me to find as an a&r. and on this record you will hear why i went and found him. this is an absolute beast! both tracks are tried and tested club killers. truthfully, i cannot think of a better dance-floor record on dirtybird this year<

after several hot tunes on worthy’s anabatic imprint, birminghams tom flynn joins the ranks of the dirtybird crew. i ve battle tested the a-side of this record all around the world. >catch that bird< is a rare mix of deep rooted funk whilst also sounding like a caribbean jungle track pitched down to 126. my favorite!
i d play this ep just on the strength of the a-side but i feel like a lot of attention will also be given to the b-side called >rhode island<. this is a classic piece of deep house with all the melodic elements of a dirtybird jam.
tom sent me at least 7 tracks before i signed these so the guy is certainly prolific and i expect to hear quite a bit more from this up and comer this year.

green velvet aka cajmere! classic release with fresh remixes!

the final chapter of vonstrokes limited vinyl album remixes features some seriously low end.
remix #1 is one the favorites of the entire project. claude met brazils dj marky on an artist bus at a uk festival last summer and gave him the track >aundy<. he asked him to do a mix and marky and his friend s.p.y. turned in this amazing drum n bass version. numerous artists have been dropping it even in the middle of house sets! it really captures the drum n bass feeling of the original track taking it back to the genre which inspired it.
remix #2 is from our up and coming bristol based bass prodigy, julio bashmore. he takes on >california< the co-production by cvs and j phlip to another level, adding smooth low end bukem style bass drops and shimmery vox/pad programming to the already insane track. bashmore is one of the few new breed of uk producers who cross over all the way from house to dubstep.

at the young age of just 20 years old, ardalan from the tch dolphin crew in san jose is quickly proving himself to be a leader in the next generation of bay area house music. justin martin quickly recognized his talent when ardalan sent him a 10 minute demo.
after one listen justin thought the track was genius but needed some additional editing and arrangement work. he took on the project and the outcome was >mr. spock<. this dancefloor monster was instantly charted #1 by myself and jesse rose as soon as we heard it. it works. for real.
