long-standing collaborators audiojack & kevin knapp join forces on implications. their strongest release to date comes equipped with a remix from musical heavyweight martin buttrich. releasing together for the first time on crosstown rebels, audiojack & kevin knapp strengthen their position within the electronic scene with implications. knapp’s vocals are centre stage as he sings about experimentation and letting go. grammy nominee martin buttrich delivers a fired up remix with added groove and playful percussion that flips the mood of the track into an absolute corker of a remix!

recently appearing on the mighty crosstown rebels with a remix of shaun j. wright & alinka ‘face the truth’, sought after duo audiojack are back serving up a solid two-track release in the form of ‘turya’. turya is built for serious heads down sessions fusing subtle acid pads with soaring synths and sonorous spoken words. the hypnotic quality of the teacher’s words beguiles and entrances the dance floor, allowing people to lose themselves in them and its evolving groove. ‘event horizon’ is a different beast altogether, with a heavy drum and bass vibe, a four-four format, and a classic -amen- break beat style. in 2015 audiojack launched their sunday social free party at veto club in their home of ibiza, which after a strong season will continue this year. their first essential mix recently dropped on radio 1 and a string of highly successful releases and remixes on labels such as hot creations, tsuba, 20/20 vision and their own gruuv has solidified their place in the dance music elite. it’s safe to say that 2016 is proving to be a big year for the talented duo.

audiojack had a great 2014 with a collaborative release alongside lcd soundsystems nancy whang, eps on defected, 2020vision and tsuba, and remixes of romanthony and hot since 82 surfacing, here we see the ever on-point duo open up 2015 with some fresh material for their very own gruuv label. since launching gruuv back in 2010 the pair have unleashed material from the likes of huxley, jimmy edgar, darius syrossian, copy paste soul, a1 bassline and phil weeks, testament to their broadly attentive a&r approach with the imprint. now a year deep into their relocation to ibiza, audiojack have left behind their former uk influenced sound palette, and instead embraced their surroundings to envelop new material with the stripped back style of electronic music their new home turf is known for.

after years as a vocalist and keyboarder in james murphys superband lcd soundsystem, finally nancy whang steps out with her own solo project: 4 cover versions of big songs from the 70ies, each of which is to be produced by a big name of todays electronic scene.

richard burkinshaw and james rial aka audiojack have been at the forefront of underground electronic music for nearly a decade now with the duo dropping their first full length ep on 2020vision in 2006, entitled white noise. here the duo return to the label with a fresh single, following recent output which saw them collaborate with lcd soundsystem’s nancy whang for a single on gomma, and a string of material and remixes on their hugely successful gruuv imprint.

following their remix of moodtrap last year, we welcome audiojack to tsuba with two of their distinctive bass lead house tracks backed with a killer cosmic mix from running backs lauer.

audiojack return to 2020 after a year or so setting up their imprint gruuv. the new single >get serious< shows the duo not only mature as artists but also develop and hone their sound to new house themed productions. the title track is state of the art bounce in a box with a killer vocal hook, >let the rhythm take you<, meandering around sweet insistent stabs. its been smashing terraces, rooftops and discotheques all summer and now its finally available for our select dj friends to carry on the vibes through autumn. >polka dot dress< comes spotted with a sound originally created on the classic korg m1 synth and used by mk to devastating effect in the 90s. audiojack have then sprinkled their magic dust on it and added sweeping detroit techno strings, tight drums and healthy amounts of bottom end rumble. as we look forward it is important to know your roots and audiojack show they know their house history by covering the all time classic by the backroom - definition of a track. no samples at all were used and the guys worked out and replayed all the synth parts before adding new vocals from kevin knapp. by beefing up the original we hope a new generation of djs and clubbers bust out this amazing track. it deserves to be heard again and is produced and primed for todays dancefloors.

this ep features remixes from italian tech house maestro hugo and danish deep house stalwart martinez, who have both produced stunning mixes. hugo is one of the most in demand and best selling producers at the moment, with productions and remixes on the likes of tuning spork, viva, systematic and tongut.

leeds based audiojack stormed on to the scene with their chart busting single >robot<, back in 2006. since then theduo have stayed true to the leeds house institution that is 20/20 vision, releasing multiple 12 inches and an album over the last 3 years. one can only imagine how giddy we are to finally slot these nice young chaps for a release on get digital. anchored by a smattering of effects, quirky soundsand sliced up vocals - that even a sushi chef would bow in approval of – made it almost easy to crown >kicks forkicks< the a-side. although storming right from the get-go, it is the two break-downs that build up to reintroduce the beats that provide a dramatic tension effect, withoutsacrificing their credibility. a tune equally affective as it is infectious.

new leeds based duo, audiojack have been causing quite a stir since their track robot first appeared, and after doing damage at miami 2006. with only a few copies given out, it has fast become a stalwart of the sets of some of the worlds biggest djs. these include lee burridge, james zabiela, nic fanciulli, ivan smagghe, craig richards, fergie (plays on radio 1), umek, and paul woolford who has been quoted as saying love it, very erotic isn t it!

the next release on crosstown rebels sees made by pete come together once again with vocalist jem cooke. returning to damian lazarus’ impressive imprint, made by pete invites diynamic label boss solomun and gruuv founders audiojack to take on remix duties. the original cut of so long opens up the ep. you are at once immersed in its trance-inducing elements, intensified by cooke’s powerfully sensual vocals. solomun shapes the title track into a grittier, industrial version whilst audiojack’s leans on the more percussive side, with ambient sounds and a prominent vocal hook. closing the ep is modify saturn, a track graced by tribal drums that beckon you to succumb to the groove. made by pete has been carving a name for himself in the dance music scene over the past thirteen years. he’s had releases on respected labels such as dftd, crosstown rebels and kerri chandler’s madtech records. his music has been supported by some of the scene’s most respected taste-makers from pete tong to joris voorn and eats everything to groove armada. jem cooke has lent her stunning vocal talent to some major musical players including cher, zero 7, kate simko, martin garrix and hot since 82.

the summer of 2015 sees gruuv celebrate 5 years in the game. we ve put together a brand new compilation featuring 25 of our favourite artists, which will be released as 6 x 4 track vinyl releases every two weeks throughout the summer and features artwork from the renowned victoria topping. each ep will be released on limited edition vinyl, with a free poster and sticker inside, uniquely stamped from 001 - 500. thanks to everyone involved, all around the world. music provides the greatest unity. it strips away indifferences, supersedes language, nationality, culture, all defining human factors, and leaves one common thing we can all interpret sound.
