official mr bongo reissue. replica original cover artwork. recorded in 1978, this is a latter-period gem from the larger than life legend, combining the glitz and glamour of disco’s heyday with maia’s raw funk and soul roots. for “disco club”, maia left his usual band and went into the legendary estudios level with an ensemble of rio’s finest including paulinha braga on drums, jamil joanes on bass, robson jorge on clarinet, hyldon de souza on guitar, sidinho on percussion, trombonists edmundo maciel and darcy seixas, and juarez assis on tenor sax. arranger and keyboardist lincoln olivetti was a crucial presence during these sessions – he added the all-important string flourish and brassy joy to the uptempo tracks, leaving maia enough room to express himself.

insane disco cut from 1984 repressed! you d be forgiven for not knowing breaking at the party, the sole single release from nyc outfit joey pastrana & his back of tricks. it was originally released in 1984 on the short lived tropic of buddha records, a label dedicated to latino takes on electro and disco. such is the record s obscurity and cult status amongst collectors that you ll struggle to find original copies for sale for less than l500. this city of dreams reissue presents both of the original mixes (vocal and dub style instrumental), both of which fuse elements of boogie, electro and dub disco in a fabulously eccentric and wonderfully funky way. the synthesizer sounds, in particular, are superb.

the tireless and titanic dance figure that is dj t. is next up on seth troxler’s essential play it say it label. dj t. has done it all in his long and storied career, from setting up one of the most influential labels in get physical to founding groove magazine via opening the monza club and, of course, serving up always inventive eps and lps on the best labels of the day. his sound has evolved through many house, disco and tech styles and has kept him an in-demand dj for more than 25 years. these new missives are yet more proof that few know how to work the floor as well as dj t. the perfectly menacing keep it close kicks things off with a dark, snaking bassline underpinning freaky synth stabs. the pressure builds throughout and will have the crowd locked in before it pulls back and builds again with a masterful grasp of mood. hitting much harder is the excellent the day it all started, a more physical house track with solid kicks is designed for maximum impact in the club. tumbling bass and gurgling synth riffs flesh this one out and ensure it is a real piece of dynamite. last of all is the retro-tinged 1988, with its tightly programmed drums, slick claps and spraying acid line. its a wild track to get the freaks out of the shadows and on to the ‘floor. this is a fresh ep that offers three very different but equally effective club tracks that are sure to blow up in the coming months

the first release of our new project studio mule is a cover of japanese 80s dance classic carnaval by taeko ohnuki. is studio mule a band? unit? we never have fixed member except kuniyuki takahashi as a track maker. we invite who we love. the first gest is our beloved miyako koda aka dip in the pool. you remember the reissue of on retinae on music from memory. miyako koda is one of the most carisma model in japan in 80s and the vocalist of experimental pop band dip in the pool. dance edit on a side is true to the original. off course more playful than original. extended edit on b side is more club friendly house version.

after a year’s hiatus optimo music disco plates returns with the first of several planned releases.
first up is long time friend phil kieran with an ep made specifically with optimo in mind. it has been tried and tested over recent months and more than ticks all our boxes. we feel confident it will tick yours too.
phil says “the ep was recorded in my house and made up of mostly live percussion performed live by thomas tettey annang. originally from ghana, he moved to belfast some years ago. it just so happens his wife is a close friend of my sisters and that was the first introduction. thomas now runs -releasing rhythms” here in belfast teaching drum classes.
we used a wide selection of traditional african drums that all have their own name, each one has a style and a sound. the rhythms used in this record would stem back to south american rhythms but using african drums. this was a sound and rhythm that influenced early post punk records in new york and still has an influence on dance music today.”

australia’s what so not is pleased to announce his long awaited debut album not all the beautiful things, featuring frequent collaborator skrillex, legendary rock legends toto, as well as san holo, slumberjack to name only a few. over three years in the making, not all the beautiful things is about transformation and metamorphosis, a culmination of everything the australian-born artist has been working towards as he’s built his reputation as one of the most innovative producers in the game, garnering over 455 million combined streams in the process. more than an album, it’s a fully realized artistic statement in which what so not is in full control of every aspect, from the stage design and visuals to the music videos and merchandise. “i didn’t want to put anything out that doesn’t cohesively match the essence of the songs,” explains the man behind it all.

chreal01 is the debut project by scottish producer chaotic reality exploring a meditative side to techno. written over the course of several months spent living in new york as a resistance to the frenetic pace of a busy environment, chreal01 contains four tracks that repeat, oscillate and soundtrack a more centred existence. inspired by shinichi atobe, avalon emerson, newworldaquarium / ross154 & the 7th plain. each track in this self-released record is named after its sequence and operates on a slower tempo, focussing on melody and sound design, with aim to investigate the space between dub techno and early trance. track one opens with gentle dancing chords developing over 7 minutes, with subtle nods to echospace and black dogs otaku over a punchy kick and warm sub. reverb-licked stabs pass softly in and out the mix and ride over a homogenous chord range, highlighting points in the melody and meandering back into the ether. two has an introspective focus, rarely reaching more than two kicks per four bars. an arpeggiated lead centres the composition, slowly developing over a thick bassline. distant snaps and pops season the track and highlight the empty breathing space intentionally left in the production. on the b-side, three is characterised by heavily saturated kicks softly thumping under a bubbling melody, broken by echo-delayed stabs varying in form, filter depth and feedback timing. on the closing song four, chaoticreality develops and sculpts a stack of delayed chords creating a progressively elevating soundscape. the lead melody chords layer and discord changing thickness, shape and form throughout with pseudo kicks acting as a complimentary melody. here, cr plays with space to creating a hypnotic spacial production akin to digital justice or the orb, with the intention to take the listener to a transcendental state. chreal01 is housed in a popset sleeve & hand stickered

nick anthony simoncino is synonymous with the revival of italian house music over the past five years or so, and so it feels right for him to be delivering this album to vibraphone. of course, simoncino has more than enough skills (and hardware) to make something truly special, and that s apparent from the opening strains of -mystic adventures- onwards. there s a sense of urgency and mystery woven into tracks like -righteous rule-, where haunting leads wobble over sizzling drum machines, and the overall mood is redolent of 80s soundtracks mixed with the uneasy side of chicago house music. maintaining a punchy finish throughout and constantly reaching for the spooky side of machine soul, simoncino has more than delivered for the legendary italian label.

long time friend of the label, neue grafik, steps forth with his most fully realised offering to date. this record has been a long time coming, born out of a encounter in paris back in 2016. this meeting of minds led to a blossoming friendship between fred ( neue grafik) and bradley ( rs intl) which has taken them across 3 continents, countless dance-floors and finally crystallised onto this 12-. the record itself takes cues from the broken-beat sound of london while paying homage to the parisian house dance scene. largely sample based, but also employing much more live instrumentation than ever before, neue grafik s music is informed by movement and in turn offers so much for dancers to respond to.

dj central coming in super hot for the inaugural release of esoteric exports. the man of many aliases and releases provides something a little lush, a little light hearted and a whole lotta good. rather than waste time reading about it, just listen. heres dj central proving once again that hes the man for perfectly layered and arranged sounds.

belfast-producer space dimension controller, akajack hamill, may be landing his debut release on dekmantel, but hes definitely no stranger to their shores. with the three-track ep gaining time clocking in at over 35-minutes, phasing between cosmic kaleidoscopic house, and serene, epic ambient, a sonic atmosphere reminiscent of the background resonance the galaxy permeates on a daily basis hamills dekmantel debut is closer to that of an album, than your average set of club 12inches.

the tiefschwarz boys have just struck musical gold with their latest offering for souvenir, a fresh ep delivered by the electro trailblazer named bolz bolz (germanys andreas bolz) whos done more for underground music than you probably realize. practice paris is a 4-track ep which dives into the murky, broken beat and techno tinted territory mr. bolz has honed to perfection - with each track tried and tested from the souvenir crew to stunning result.

funky sobrietas is the slick love child by leuk en ko s jan duivenvoorden and richard van den bogaert. intended to be a poppy german italo duo for a wedding act amidst the squatting scene of the hague, the music they produced was of more value than just an one-off. from a shoebox stacked with dodgy recordings two tracks were selected that offer you the full funky sobrietas spectrum. maria is the anthem for the one you would die for, with unpretentious vocals and echoes but catchy synths nonetheless. sunny is six glasses of champagne later when the wedding is on it s flipside, with a nifty dry bassline and quirky synths. comes in opaque white vinyl and (again) beautiful riso printed artwork, pressed in limited amount (123) for all the die-hards out there.

a generation younger than the founders of the teklife crew, dj rashad and dj spinn, dj taye was originally a rapper and beat maker before hooking up with the collective and jumping headfirst into the world of footwork production, dancing and djing. however, it was rashad’s untimely passing in 2014 that was the unlikely catalyst for developing the sounds and ideas for this album.

lillygood party! is a label focused on licencing tracks that alex and stephane play for years at their parties. the aim is to re-edit and revisit those jams from soul to house , jazz to afro, boogie to techno and make us and people enjoy and smile on the dancefloor because those tunes are really really good both tracks here are classics dancefloors tunes, nothing rare, just favourite tunes that alex and stéphane play in their sets. on the a side the onwards international version is longer than the original and the arrangement quiet different for more intense dancefloor action. here they both worked on the edit to find the right balance and the right sound in order to revisit the uk classic jazz funk number, a firm favourite here lillygood! the b side is an amazing disco modern soul gospel track from elbernita twinkie clark already reissued some time ago but the cherry on the cake is that you have here a 12inch version extended and a new mastering for extra loud play this version is slightly different than the original, alex extended parts: the beginning with drum intro looped for mixing and changed the end to make it longer keeping the original flavour. please enjoy as much as we do because we love those edits, we love those tunes, we love music we are very happy to share with you these limited vinyls releases

needs is a not-for-profit record label & collective lovingly curated by bobby pleasure. we believe in people. the concept of the label is to use music as a medium to spread love, unity and the idea of giving back. promoting harmony and togetherness rather than isolation and estrangement, each release and accompanying event will act as a support stream to various issues within society such as mental health, homelessness and equality. for the second release we have tracks from tilman, jonny rock, lucky charmz & pletnev. four artists from different countries of the world who all have the needs factor, and have very kindly donated their music to the dancefloor. all profits from this release will be donated to the homelessness charity crisis. everybody has needs.

edmondson first came to my attention with his lobster theramin distributed release, flamingo tripper, on his own label lissoms. or so i thought. turns out he was actually a guy who used to serve me in one of my favourite pubs in newcastle. back in those days he was a dub step / drum and bass kid, and as per the trend with all of those guys, hes now showing the house heads how its done, with a much keener feel for sound design, groove and a better ear for a sample than 90% of us lazy people who cut our teeth on a 4/4 beat. edmondson (or sean as i did know him and how i know him once again) is really one of the most exciting producers out there right now for me, and i couldnt be happier that weve reconnected and hes kindly allowed me me me to present some of his amazing music. we have love is an instant classic, and psg is a work of pure emotive art. to remix we have love, ive enlisted dauwd (fresh from his amazing album on technicolour). sean suggested him, and i jumped on the suggestion as he was one of the first people i met when i moved to berlin 4 years ago, and ive been trying to figure out a way of working with him since. he takes a we have love down a kind of more delicate and steppy route. its very pretty, but also really makes you want to dance. to remix psg i asked asok. again, i thought i first met asok about 7 or 8 years ago, when he came and played for a party i used to throw in newcastle. after becoming good friends over the years, we got chatting and it turned out that we were both in magaluf in 1998, and may have actually been involved in the same street brawl. thats not something either of us are proud of, but its definitely food for thought. i’m biased, but i think his remix is my favourite thing he’s ever done, and i love everything he’s touched musically to date, so thats probably an even bigger endorsement than it first seems. his version is big.

we live in the time when rave is the word that is only used when people want to describe a fierce party or to describe colors, styles and some types of electronic music. basically, the word -rave- became sort of a metaphor. but back in the days, it was the name for the revolution, no less than that. warehouse memories was born to give a direction to that revolution, this is rave 001.

nyc native eric maltz has been a professional producer and pianist for more than 20 years. after landing on the techno scene in 2017 with the double vinyl “ns-17” ep on levon vincent’s novel sound, eric maltz releases his first single on his own label flower myth. opening on the title track , a bruising slice of machine techno, the live touch of the new-york producer stands out throughout “pathway”. on “ah-shu-de-ohu”, paranoid chimes swirl out of focus while chopped up vocals command attention. free floating chords glide through a meditative soundscape on closer “line through”. flower myth will release 4 more singles from eric maltz throughout 2018, one of them a collaboration with cristina valentina, the powerful voice from “we have power” (ns17). having recently signed with uzuri booking and artist management, eric will soon be bringing his singular live techno to his home-base city of berlin and other major cities across europe and the world.

dimensions recordings fifth release sees the label step into the world of the long player with istanbul native, kerem akdag s self-titled debut album. kerem has already been winning fans of the ilk of gilles peterson through his previous output of dusty house and tripped out beats in the last few years, and of course via his getdownsoclose offering on dimensions debut release. his debut album however, sees kerem deliver a mature piece of work, bright and timeless, equally effective in the club as it is at home and brimming with ideas, hooks and must have songs. across eight tracks kerem demonstrates a breadth of skills that most artists would work a lifetime to achieve. from the stepping beats of when i think of you to his subtle vocal layers on isolated and from the woozy beach vibes of sultan to the squelching, rasping synths of unite it s clear that there s very little that s outside of kerem s arsenal. the album rounds out fittingly with drums please, which perfectly displays kerem s jazz tendencies, a slow grooving track whose crescendo of stabs and drums create a song that s more powerful than its parts. kerem akdag s debut album clearly sets out the stall for a man who has a lot to say and has the capability to say it loud!listen up! pressed on clear vinyl with a metallic sticker insert.

beginning in the early 90s, emmanuel top became france s first techno superstar, even if his popularity was greater in countries like germany and england than his own. he released a multitude of 12inches on the attack label la pipe a eau, krankenhaus, ecsta-deal, stress, turkish bazar, and many more many of which are compiled on the triple-disc release collection from 1995. top s next step took him to nova mute alongside heavyweights like plastikman. in addition to his solo work, top also collaborated with bruno sanchioni and bruno quartier in the mid to late 90s as the trance act b.b.e. (seven days and one week) and also as age of love (the original age of love).

drumcode favourite harvey mckay returns to the label with a darker new sound. the glaswegian has been a regular contributor over the years, highlighted by the memorable the illusion of control ep in 2014 and his newer work with brother ryan under the alias moniker. earlier this year drumcode released the duos pentatonic ep and featured a mix on adam beyer s radio, which included black dolphin, kickstarting the hype on the track. named after the infamous russian prison, the title track is dark, tough, deeply textured brooding affair, with a menacing touch than runs through its core. mckay then brings in a huge synth line and changes up the dynamic of the track, giving it a powerful and driving feel. retox is a dark and twisted heavy-hitting cut, driven by aggressive drums and bassline, while a hypnotic synth line sustains a sense of tension throughout the six-minute track. concluding the package is cover up, a fantastic stripped back exploration into dark atmospheric techno territory that s tailor made for the winter warehouse raving season.

a primer on london’s bright-burning young jazz scene, this new compilation brings together a collection of some of its sharpest talents. a set of nine newly-recorded tracks, we out here captures a moment where genre markers matter less than raw, focused energy. surveying the album’s running order, it could easily serve as a name-checking exercise for some of london’s most-tipped and hardworking bands of the past couple of years. recorded across three long, fruitful days in a north west london studio, the results speak for themselves: they’re a window into the wide-eyed future of london’s musical underground.

insolate, formally known as miss sunshine, is a true techno veteran with 20 years in the scene under her belt. with releases on dj deeps deeply rooted label and her very own out of place brand, insolate now moves on to proletarijat with a significant release in more than one way. proletarijat 005 is wholly dedicated to her grandfather who was a yugoslav partisan during wwii.

eric estornels lone romantic releases -anomaly-, the new ep of the veteran english-born, france-based producer carl finlow. -anomaly- is the 3rd instalment, following estornel’s maceo plex album -solar- and the return of his mariel ito alias with the -2e komst- ep, remarking the distinct sound of the label once again, while pushing a step forward at the same time. with the relaunch of mariel ito, the electro and idm alias of estornel, that was active in the early 2000s with releases on modern love or scsi-av and that will see a retrospective album from that time on r&s records, lone romantic is a new suitable platform for carl’s music. however, from the 90s until today, his vast catalog traverses through the most relevant labels out there such as warp, soma, klang, scsi-av, novamute, satamile, electrix and his own 2020 vision. -anomaly- is a four-tracker showcasing classic electro schemes with ease. a frenetic mysticism and a meditative melancholy stand behind the most innovative trajectories of funk, within a mood much divergent than the usual conservative reverence towards the genre.

the first full artist ep of 2018 is one by a new artist for heist, but a familiar name for any modern day house aficionado: adryiano. after taking 2016 off, he came back guns blazing in 2017, releasing 5 solo eps in 1 year on labels like shall not fade and baka gaijin. his me and you and her ep for heist showcases his contemporary view on classic house and acid, and is an experiment into how much distortion a track can actually handle when youve got a killer sample hook. me and you and her is about as classic as a house track can be and moves in similar fashion as his post-2013 hit ‘on my side. its got a sweet and repetitive vocal loop, some semi-grainy but definitely groovy percussion and a deceptively simple piano hook. add some filtering and youve got a lovely warm house song that can go on forever. the a2 move it, move it moves straight into old-school chicago territory, with a raw af acid bassline. chicago bred jamie 3:26, now residing in its dutch counterpart rotterdam, gives the track a nice old school twist. hes going full 707 on the percussion and has casually added an amazing synth hook to give the remix a true vibe of its own. the ep closes off with fashion country girl: adryianos dystopian view of a world where dolly parton gets mangled through an overdrive, then gets distorted, crushed, mangled, deleted, re-added in 8 bit and then crushed some more. the result is an uptempo roller with more than enough grit, and just enough tongue-in-cheek to make everyone smile a little bit more. yours sincerely, maarten & lars.

placed under the media spotlights in 2011 thanks to their joyful and loony indie pop, concrete knives went on to sign with the legendary uk imprint bella union (beach house, fleet foxes, lift to experience, etc.). their first album be your own king was successfully released the following year, selling more than 7000 copies in france alone and sending the group of friends on the road to play more than 150 live dates all over europe. quiet for the past six years and after recording with danish producer andreas pallisgaard (trentemøller, goat, pinkunoizu), the band is set to return with a much awaited second effort on the french label vietnam (h-burns, chevalrex pharaon de winter).

ess o ess (aka chris stoker and jamie blanco) return to not an animal to further indulge in the organic house territories previously mined for the previous releases. the duo have an uncanny nack for deftly balancing the rockier end of disco with the authenticity of early house, and never more so than on -secret place. the original bounces and struts in a pleasingly groove laden hypnotic fashion, while the dub version turns down the guitars and turns up the synthesisers for a more heads-down dance floor excursion. on remix detail kuniyuki takahashi makes his 1st appearance on the label. on the vinyl you ll find an interpretation which can be best be described as pitched-down balearic-techno, which clicks, clacks and folds upon itself, drowning in waves of reverbed drama-drums at a deceptively low tempo. kuniyuki also provides a second remix as a digital exclusive, mildly pulling back on the pomp of the vinyl version, but replacing it with a spacious pathos, complete with backwards guitars that reminiscent of an electronic within without you era beatles. angaphora make their naar debut with their own wildly stirring remix of the lead track, which evokes the golden era of 80s melodic pop music to bewildering success, laden with digitised emotion, singing ebow guitar, and not a kick drum in site.

after a more than well-received first release, black carpet returns with 4 fresh industrial tinged techno behemoths. the amsterdam centred producer shrouds has been given the honours to do so, with zhark veteran huren on remix duty.

parisian producer brice groulier has built a reputation as one of the new guard of techno artists to watch closely with consistently high quality sub aquatic, rhythm shifting techno for labels like semantica, midgar, planet rhythm, and modularz. while looking for music that integrated with our grey area releases, we found ourselves blending more von grall tunes than any other artist, so a horo release was requested. what originally began as a 4 track ep bloomed into an 8 track debut album that sees von grall expand his style beyond the muscular but hazy rhythmic mist he has become known for. the title track infinitum opens the lp like a contemplative bubble. hyper density and inside are pensive, evocative jogs, while emerald city and disturbance ramp up the energy and will be the most favoured floor tunes from infinitum. antonym allegory combines the von grall rhythmic bounce with an emotive pad that will echo in your mind long after listening. motel closes the lp with a quirky, almost joyful flow. infinitum wanders confidently into new ground for von grall and cements him as a versatile and singular voice in techno.

almost a millennium ago, the italian poet, dante alighieri offered the indelible axiom: “heat cannot be separated from fire, or beauty from the eternal.” in the centuries since, almost every strain of logic has been upended, save for the inextricable connection tethering beauty and timelessness. anenon’s tongue is a beautiful album. that’s an adjective whose meaning has practically been obliterated by hallmark prose and hyperbolic idiocy. but occasionally, a work of art digs deep enough to excavate the underlying meaning that existed in antiquity and figures to persist until we’re soil and dust. this is beauty materialized through the abstract articulation of love, loss, fear, addiction, confidence, longing, hope, and sadness. at its best, the infinite array of human emotions swirled and distilled into sound. sound becomes melody, harmony, and rhythm. the medium happens to be music, but it could really be anything. pure expression. tools mean nothing more and nothing less than palette and color.

our sixth release is two previously unreleased versions of signs of a dying love with the a side being much slower in tempo than the vinyl release on otb records. whilst on the flip the song appears to be the same as the otb records version, but without the spoke rap at the beginning. this is a timeless piece of soul music that deserves a wider audience.

turbolenz is a new label from offenbach run by philipp lenz aka delenz. the first label s release comes from shayde, the brain child of delenz and his partner richard hötter. titled „ama il buco- (italian natives get the joke here), it features a very diverse spectrum of sounds and moods. „ama il buco- a slow grower and steady groover that will get many bodies moving and is some ready-to-get-naked material for sure. „kühlschrank in f-moll- is a rather dreamy, yet positive and escapistic affair. insert your favourite sunrise after a long night out here. the flip side starts with a remix by none other than swayzak, the mighty tech house duo from london. their take on „ama il buco- is a crisp and cool peak time affair for a moment of contemplation – if that makes sense. the last track „ofwebach- is obviously an homage to delenz home town offenbach. apparently a more uptempo and experimental terrain, „ofwebach- is something else. all in all, the result is a rock-solid 4-track debut release on turbolenz or as they say in offenbach and frankfurt: megastabiles ding.

more quality from kenny dope, here in his soul fuzion guise. >i got rhythm< leads with the kickdrum (think >iko iko< given a house touch) and then a soulful vocal from vee drifts over the top, while lush chords and a subtle bassline complete this late night groover. on the flip, the >ritual mix< fattens out the bass and kickdrum, and lets the vocal drift more into the back ground, letting newly added percussion come more into play on a slightly tougher take than the original.

intraverso is a journey in that momentary inbetween land that many of us experience sometimes. it explores the turmoil of feelings of when one gets stuck in the middle, floating in between ambition and complete stillness.
fabrizio lapiana is a well-known name on the contemporary italian techno scene. he has been involved in music since the 90’s when he started dj ing in his hometown rome. to date he has over two handfuls of releases on labels such as figure jams, arts and m_rec ltd - as well as his own imprint, the well renowned attic music, founded in 2008.
intraverso is fabrizio’s debut album, set for release on his label. the record is a very personal journey, according to the artist himself. you here find him examining different territory than where he usually heads within his productions. the album, which consists of nine songs in total, was composed between april 2016 and february 2017 in his studio in rome. written in a state of -introspect-, we here see an artist in motion. changing. evolving. the perfect moment to explore something new and unveil a different side of yourself to the world.

the make mistakes ethos is one of diversity and evolution, and that is showcased in full on our newest vinyl release need your luvin. house, acid, techno, roy england, jarvi, fredy grogan. one track, three styles, all dance floor bounders. roy englands original mix is a jackin house jam with a timeless vibe. a classic house sound propelled forward by the titular vocal sample, england manages to deliver a track that would work equally in the lounge, as well as late night in the big room. on the b side jarvi s acid workout strips the original down even further, and fills it back up, with a wandering, hypnotic acid line to stitch it all together. an old school party sound, both familiar and fresh. fredy grogan deconstructs the original into its component parts, building it back up into his dark, and driving dub techno remix. drawing it out over nearly 8 minutes, this ll have the heads bouncing off the walls. house, acid, techno, pillars of dance music, mixed together, given the ol razzle dazzle, and served up hot and ready for mind, body, and soul. grab need your luvin, stick it in the crate, and never worry, because you ll always have the luvin you need. beware the irrational, however seductive. shun the transcendent and all who invite you to subordinate or annihilate yourself. distrust compassion, prefer dignity for yourself and others. dont be afraid to be thought arrogant or selfish. picture all experts as if they were mammals. never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity. seek out argument and disputation for their own sake the grave will supply plenty of time for silence. suspect your own motives, and all excuses. do not live for others any more than you would expect others to live for you.

sombrero galaxy (also known as messier object 104, m104 or ngc 4594) is an unbarred spiral galaxy in the constellation virgo located 31 million light-years (9.5 mpc)2 from earth. the galaxy has a diameter of approximately 50.000 light-years, 30% the size of the milky way. it has a bright nucleus, an unusually large central bulge, and a prominent dust lane in its inclined disk. the dark dust lane and the bulge give this galaxy the appearance of a sombrero. astronomers initially thought that the halo was small and light, indicative of a spiral galaxy, but spitzer found that the halo around the sombrero galaxy is larger and more massive than previously thought, indicative of a giant elliptical galaxy.3 the galaxy has an apparent magnitude of +9.0, making it easily visible with amateur telescopes, and it is considered by some authors to be the brightest galaxy within a radius of 10 megaparsecs of the milky way. its large bulge, its central supermassive black hole, and its dust lane all attract the attention of professional astronomers.

frank is the latest release from dolfin records, a texas indie label with a prominent underground roster that includes rapper lord byron, producer ben hixon, r&b singer jon bap, and former stanley clarke drummer mike mitchell. liv.e is one of the newer artists on the label, having previously collaborated with hixon through a series of dj parties in dallas (“new math mondays”). hixon and bap have significant marks on this project, providing production, mixing, and background vocals. the beats they lend are often heavy on the drums, with short, hazy riffs that resemble dilla-style syncopated loops. frank opens with a short hiss, launching into a jittery pattern of cymbals and drums, stinging bass slaps, and bouncy guitar riffs. you can almost see the tape reels rolling in front of you as the instrumental loops play themselves out with occasional flutters and skips. a chorus of voices enter with harmonies out of the george clinton songbook, blending in behind the slow, finger-snapping beat. it sounds more like a lost, dusty funk recording from the ’70s than an r&b song made in 2017. -nitish pahwa (passion of the weiss)

a firm favourite with the hot creation camp, jey kurmis returns to the label with his jessycat ep. following acclaimed releases lil’ nic french, kari and not too flabbeh on the imprint, we once again see the talented producer at the top of his game. the ep stays true to jey’s trademark sound as the producer delivers three tracks to take the dancefloor through to the small hours. the ep opens with jessycat, a bubbling tribal affair that implores you to move. an array of vocals bleeds into the record taking you on a journey to outer space. fien features co-producers nukov & yelmet and takes a darker turn with a rumbling bass and intense vocals that state “my head spinning like a merry go”. the outer space sounds continue into closing track vanstone, unfolding with a swinging bass and distorted stabs. part of the industry from more than a decade, jey kurmis has previously released on labels such as, moon harbour, leftroom and kaluki. taking his dj skills to new levels he has played the world’s hottest parties- from sonar to bpm, and the warehouse project to dc10. the leed’s based music maker has also commanded residencies at do not sleep and paradise.
