tidy line-up including randomer, gilbr, voiski and tolouse low trax. tip! in terms of experimental, techno, very few come close to the impact that this uk producer has had on the scene. with a sound that is rarely classifiable, randomer’s dekmantel contribution is a staggered, minimally-twisted, dark, kind-of-two step, awesome thing. versatile records’ gilb’r has found himself an integral part of the dutch scene since moving to amsterdam, and brings forth his organic, percussive grooves that have helped define his music, and label to date. salon des amateurs’ tolouse low trax provides a seasoned session of amniotic, grizzled, hypnotic post-everything music, that is eerily discomforting and wonderfully pleasurable at the same time. and on the ep’s fourth track, parisian techno wizard, voiski adds layered organic, futuristic loops that work to stale the progress of time, and space.

californian electronic pop duo peaking lights make a splash on dekmantel with sea of sand the bands first release in 2018. its a kaleidoscopic melting-pot of dainty dub, experimental and leftfield beats, with wondrous sunny soundscapes that blend together the unconventional home-fashioned electronics, and windswept vocals that have defined peaking lights to date. sea of sand is the band’s first record in three years not released on their own imprint. with six tracks, exceeding 30 minutes in total, the extended ep is a prelude to a forthcoming lp. with a diy aesthetic and approach to analogue instrumentalism, peaking lights retro-digital sound is one that sits perfectly with dekmantel.

uk dj and producer rohan walder, a.k.a. randomer furthers his exploration into deep, spatial techno on dekmantel’s ufo imprint. fusing together two-step rhythms, cavernous beats, distortion, layered kicks, and an attentive detail to sound design, randomer delivers an uncompromising array of abstract and destructive techno tracks.

sirocco is the second ep by bruxas, the psychedelic, beat-driven, tropical, house group consisting of jacco gardner and nic mauskovic, featuring the percussive talents of jungle by nights tienson smeets. sirocco features the combined talents of cult retro artist gardner, and the percussive fortitude of mauskovic, delving into the world of exotic, cinematic, balearic-sunshine, that cruises leisurely throughout, and is layered with phazed-out, tropical synths. its a sound for the summer. good vibes only please.

parrish smith makes his dekmantel debut on the labels sister-techno imprint, ufo, with a blend of avant garde electronics and industrial. with the sex, suicide & speed metal ep , dutch producer parrish smith works outside of the realm of genres and tempos, creating his own unique template of saturated, electronic post-punk, having won accolades from the likes of nina kraviz, and ron morelli along the way. an analogue purist at heart, parrish smith has already amassed a cult following with regular appearances on red light radio, in which the anarcho-experimentalist broadcasts sessions of heavy industrialism, breakbeats and body music.

recorded in an ageing holiday park during off-season, center parcs is the debut lp by dutch artists betonkust & palmbomen ii a conceptual, musical-tristesse full of lo-fi harmony, and fanciful, psychedelic-coloured modulations, with an undercurrent of saturated, outsider-house beats, all recorded to tape. with a shared passion for experimental music, and gnarled dutch electro, the duo have crafted an lp of esoteric-electronic-pop, reflective of the time the two spent holed-up in isolation, in the out-of-time center parcs setting

part two of the ep features the motor city drum ensemble remix, and the original “in a silent mix” version from 1999, a track out of its time when released on allen’s sole record “black voices”. a long serving dekmantel veteran, danilo plessow was there from the start. after compiling the first selector’s compilation last year, mcde turns tony allen’s masterpiece in a jam, with added house beats, giving the funk number the edit treatment. the final mix sounds like the kind of track you would hear mcde play in one of his sets as he’s firing up the heat. the organ sounds and trumpets are left high in the mix, to create an unforgettable hook that resonates throughout, in complete motor city style.

bergen is the next, and natural step in the expanding career of dutch producer tom trago. the acclaimed producer behind voyage direct will release his fourth lp, with the label and crew he s built a close relationship with over the past ten years - dekmantel. with a new studio and approach to music, bergen is trago sounding at his very finest, returning to his roots with a focussed, and dedicated production ethos.

lena willikens is the kind of artist whos only capable of following one path her own. in many ways, shes the archetypal selector, an unpredictable dj who often eschews all notions of genre in favor of what she describes as different temperatures, different time zones, different moods and a healthy portion of chaos. although her methods have certainly proven effective on the dancefloor, willikens also refuses to be bound by its traditional limitations.

as part of the ten-year anniversary dekmantel presents the final record in a ten-part-ep series. split into two parts due to its immensity, the final instalment is a re-issue of tony allens asiko (in a silent mix) originally released in 1999 and remixes by motor city drum ensemble and ricardo villalobos. the first part features a grandiose 29-minute ricardo villalobos version of the afrobeat masters cut. a true collaboration of giants.having been a regular at the festival for several years now, villalobos delivers a remix, one of his longest to date, that only he can produce. allowing the percussion to breathe into a monumental rhythm, villalobos warps the vocals, restructuring the bass and drums into a rolling dub-fusion of techno that is characteristic of his remixes to date, yet still breathtaking in its execution. afrobeat-minimalism, with dub-infused fire, and near psychedelic ambience that perfectly synchs the worlds of tony allen, and ricardo villalobos, two legends who’ve helped re-shape the face of music. highlighting the diversity of sounds that have come to represent the dutch label and festival series, the eps to date have encompassed a range of artists and genres, featuring label favourites, as well as whole bunch of debuting artists. the ep series kicked off in march 2018, and over the course of a year featured the likes of gigi masin, lena willikens, burnt friedman, donato dozzy, the egyptian lover, palms trax, and more.

born marco sterk, he certainly doesnt come from a standard dj background. a former skate rat who grew up loving american post-hardcore and 90s hip-hop as much as early warp records, hes been affiliated over the years with amsterdam institutions such as rush hour, red light records (where you ll find him most weekdays!) and, of course, dekmantel itself. still, thers no question that hes always followed his own path, even during the years that playing his favorite records meant that he was occasionally clearing dancefloors

next up for the brand new dkmntl ufo series is rohan walder aka randomer, who has been causing a stir with his uncompromising, bass heavy cuts on labels like clone, l.i.e.s., hemlock and numbers. the londoner graces our new platform with his signature sound that blurs the lines between big boned techno, sizzling side-step house and afro-inspired drum programing. delivering a four-tracker thats a highly energetic and confident outburst of a unique electronic music soul, randomer properly handles the abstract sound esthetics of dkmntl ufo

matrixxman has been a dekmantel regular for a couple of years now. the san francisco producer continues to impress with a new triptych for dekmantel records. over the course of three eps (rhythm, acid, polyphony), charles mccloud duff displays his versatile and original take on house and techno. the concept of the triptych is to explore the range within the confines of a particular limitation. this second ep sector ii: acid- shows an exercise in acid. similarly, the tb-303 may conjure certain knee-jerk reactions at a glance, but acid has the potential to cover a broader palette of emotion than one might initially expect. sector ii holds three squirming 303 sequences and the classic rhythmic drum programming of arrival, bad acid and i am matrix. rites on the other hand is more subtle and fluent, swinging with hazy acid flourishes and dynamic syncopation.

well,what about tuesday? israeli hybrid house and techno masters juju & jordash return to dekmantel records with yet another outstanding release. their relentless work ethos makes you wonder if these guys sleep at all. maybe thats what tuesdays are for? dkmntl 043 is a three-tracker and a fine display of gal aners and jordan czamanskis next-level, improv based way of painting records. monday mellow is a dubbed out, twisted and subtly emerging house groover, while wednesday something continues the journey with a dense electronic jazz-tinged stomper. thursday, heavy. demonstrates their full range, combining eerie melodic synth excursions with a jagged bassline an out of this world, destructive yet classy house bomb. as always their intergalactic excursions are superbly executed. lets give them some rest on those tuesdays.

makam returns to dekmantel records with his first full-length album for the amsterdam based label. blankens ongoing search for fresh sounds, textures and rhythms has lead him to than sadet, a gorgeous piece of work that takes his sound into new directions. that sadet displays a refinement of makams sound. the music is highly tactile, with an emphasis on the surroundings of the environment in which it was created. blanken: than sadet is a secluded beach on an island in thailand. a mysterious atmosphere haunts it. its windy and the weather is always a bit worse compared to the rest of the isle. there are many cliffs and you cant swim because the waves are too high. four years ago i visited than sadet for the first time and ive been coming back ever since. at one point i decided to bring my studio equipment. for a week, i dedicated my days to making music. those sketches formed the basis of the album.
