cordial recordings in partnership with miami legend willie clarke are proud to release this unreleased version of ‘stand up for what you want’ by kat roberts. the song had previously been released on 12″,,, with kat doubling up with les brown, who provided a motivational speech throughout the song. the version we’re releasing on the a side is the luscious solo vocal version by kat which had sat on tape since it’s recording in 84. on the flip we’ve used a small extract of les original vocal before kat lets rip.

“ride the gospel train” features the great oc tolbert on lead vocals over the top of an electronic drum pattern and a modern disco groove. whilst on the flip oc goes solo with “give it to glory” which is available on vinyl for the first time.
cordial recordings are proud to be partnering mel canady with the release of two previously unreleased songs from his 1970s group ruby & the mudflaps. ‘is that enough?’ came from the same recording session as ‘breezy,’ which was released in 1977 on jupiter records and has recently been re-released in 2017 by our friends at cree records. on the flip of our cordial recordings 7″,, is a live take of a song written by mel called ‘country girl,’ which was a popular song for the group at the time of their existence.
our sixth release is two previously unreleased versions of signs of a dying love with the a side being much slower in tempo than the vinyl release on otb records. whilst on the flip the song appears to be the same as the otb records version, but without the spoke rap at the beginning. this is a timeless piece of soul music that deserves a wider audience.
our fifth release is the las vegas connection, who were a new orlean band from the 1970s that released two singles on senator jones hep me. this will be a limited press of 500 units only which has been licensed through warren hildebrand and mardi gras music. running back to you is a glorious soulful dancer that has received plays in recent years on the rare soul scenes across the globe. on the flip is the uptempo disco grooved give me your love with a luscious vocal delivery from jackie pettis.
“malik” was recorded in 1982 and remained unreleased until cordial partnered with afrodisia to release the song. “a fool no longer” was original featured on “rock aus der alten schule” and is available on 7” vinyl or the first time.
