the label boss returns to his own yore imprint with another stunning solo release. these are different times indeed for andy vaz if the eps three mighty jams are indicative of where his musics heading. the a-sides over here (a glance over prime time mix) roars from the very first moment vaz unleashes its steaming, latin-tinged groove. a far cry from the techno the yore label head once issued, the tune finds vaz exploring straight up dancefloor territory with a dizzying house pulse that straight up rocks. melodies and voices rise to the surface of the dionysian broil and then just as quickly recede, leaving room for a driving bass line to gain the spotlight. the flips hurry hurry (before its too late mix) is classic deep house just as one expects on yore. a jazz-inflected strut with tilman ehrhorns sax playing, wailing over waves of rollicking piano playing and spirited vocal chants. the energy level doesnt flag for the discs final track, bygone times (nostalgia mix), which stokes a fiery house swing with its locomotive pulse, futuristic synth patterning, and high-velocity bass lines. vazs music has never sounded more impassioned and energized than it does in these three tracks and consequently, just as one might predict, different times feels like its over far too soon

part of a new breed of detroit techno, we are delighted to announce ryan crossons debut wagon repair ep. having already released on trapez, telegraph and m_nus under his alias berg nixon, ryans floor friendly live sets and shuffled percussive styles are getting many excited, with due cause. a side ‘confiteria del molino is a bassy and deep bomb. introducing itself with eerie warped vocals and strutting beats, dynamic melodic tones hover above a subtle synth progression. enlivened by stabbed horn samples, percussion and booming bass is key to this tracks heavyweight strength. b1 ‘sunshine wave is slightly lighter, opening with a bouncing melody and chattering percussion. a huge bass sound opens things up, accented by needling synth and fueled by a classic prodding techno kick. to close, ‘use me up bubbles with melodic tone and stuttering crackled samples. subtly progressing to a simple beat and rumbling bass, distorted vocal arrangements haunt the mix as flighty pads howl in the distance

a fresh addition to the moodmusic roster but a longtime veteran in the house-scene, alexander maier aka dj all*star from stuttgart is well known from his earlier releases on buzzin fly, exun and criminal records. he began his career playing underground techno in south of germany but over the years became more and more influenced by detroit and chicago house. you can hear these influences on sahara in both the rain and river version. deep and reduced grooves with enough soul and atmosphere, yet fully functional for the floor, sahara rain kicks in with a heavy bass sequence building a perfect platform to be followed by the synththeme which hit s the peak hour perfectly. i see some hands going up here already… sahara river starts more housey, building a classy, low-slung huge groove with perculating synths and almost tribal feel to the drums. the modulating synths lifts the track to new heights with a break of superbly layered twisted pads before the drums kick back in in full effect. as this would not be enough we asked our thrusted chicago connection and alexs buddy, mazi aka audio soul project to remix sahara rain. if you consider people who s been in the biz for some time mazi is one of the warriors of the sound, never choosing the easy way but thrustfully following his true way of house music. and house it is, classic but cleverly updated to 2008 with a twist of so-cal thrown in for good measure. bouncey and jacking is the words which comes into mind when hearing this, excellent work and a another bomb for the hot months to come
