gui borattos dark 2011 masterpiece >iii< was brimming with deft highlights, but not every one of them was aiming at the floor. showing his expertise in more than one style, the brazilian producer wove an intriguing web of beats and sounds that even surprised his most dedicated fans. >destination: education<, a slightly saturnine rhythm study featuring the return of guis wife luciana on vocals (who also sang on the classic >beautiful life< from debut album >chromophobia<), now gets pushed into the spotlight by dancefloor gurus terranova and tale of us, both tweaking the track to its optimal danceability. a must have for boratto zealots and crowd-sensitive djs alike, this 12 inch presents two heavy-duty bangers tailored to every partys needs.

second release in the delsin x-dsr series containing re-issues of personal favourites. m.k.s the mkappella was originally a track on the b-side of the very original version of his huge burning ep on the area 10 label. the mkappella is some original innocent deep sunset house. other side contains the adventurous lost by the 7th plain aka luke slater, taken from his debut album the 4 cornered room way back from 1994, the high days of the uk techno scene, with lot of hints towards the original detroit sound.

the dirty dutch! anticlub a notorious collective from eindhoven, the southern capital of holland, was inspired to push itself into a new direction. the inspiration came from a painting by an old lady that drew the attention and gave the impulse to create the album freaks and followers. as the title suggests there are two kinds of people, people who take risks and people who do not. as anticlub used to be a risk-taker but slowly settled in an unwanted comfort zone, this created dissatisfaction and led to a creative standstill. seeing the painting everything became clear again. one should not stand still but keep moving and evolve oneself into new areas that one has not yet explored creatively. as lessismore is from the same dutch city, this state of mind also hit the lessismore label, which inevitable resulted in both parties joining forces to release this diverse album by a former underground techno crew called anticlub. as the lessismore label is known for its typically styled techno, lessismore was searching for a new impulse sound wise and visually, to ensure creative satisfaction in the years to come. with this album everything came together and the lessismore crew reunited to renew their input into the label, which was once founded to be a creative platform and an artistic journey and in retrospective clearly not a platform where one should repeat itself time after time. freaks and followers is an 8 track album with raw electronic based music combined with a variety of vocal work by different new anticlub members. the overall feel of the album is a dark punky attitude that reminds of the good old days of rave, which in the early nineties dominated the dutch club and party scene. this period can be defined as being careless and not taking credibility into account, trying new things, being blunt and just partying your hart out. being older this is a feeling that will never have to die, proved by the old lady whose painting was used as the art-work of the album release.

copenhagens favourite wonderchild kasper bjørke is back with his second artist album on hfn music, entitled fool. set for release on april fools day 2012 (april 1st), the album is a playful mixture of abundant, pop-infused bittersweet love songs on the hunger side, and more spaced-out pschedelic disco voyages on the foolish side. amongst the plethora of quality on offer on the lp, we find lose yourself to jenny, one of a handful of songs yet again featuring the wonderful talents of jacob bellens, of murder and i got you on tape fame. the original version is bound to roam the airwaves with its super catch melody line,and bellens mature and intruiging lyrics. 80s newbeat and nu-wave meets modern studio charms in this catchy synth-pop ballad for 2012.

the impeccably talented organ grinder returns to the catapult records fold, with, believe it or not, only his 2nd solo single to date. the artists first sell out release obsession gained him some serious global attention with steffi charting the title in her 2011 end of year round up for clone. the organ grinder introduces vocalist jessy allen who will be a familiar name shortly with appearances on what i want by crst (forthcoming on valve records) and will also make an impression with her vocal contribution on the fourth studio album from high contrast the agony and the ecstasy on hospital records. for this outing he offers a simple and accessible track with an anthemic scope whipping up a combination of some serious teutonic funk and floor friendly, party-wise golden era of house vibes.

for over a decade, ray lugo has crisscrossed the globe bringing his punky afro grooves to countless audiences as leader and singer of new york powerhouse kokolo, a mainstay on the global music scene through their extensive discography and consistent touring.

welcome reissue for this super-rare space funk album from 1983, one of the holy grails of the cosmic scene. extremely expensive and hard-to-find in the original, this lp was created by legendary french producers jean-pierre massiera and bernard torelli (listed here as areisam and bernie) and released on french label savoir faire. it is a superb example of the duos innovative electronic disco madness, always pushing boundaries while remaining supremely funky. stand-out tracks are the italo classic >challenger< - heady synths, tough bass and astronaut vocals combine in a strange space odyssey, >cruisin<, a superb electro-boogie style cut with a hypnotic driving bassline, and the fantastic >on the border<, a tight funky percussive workout whipped by wild space-rock guitars. but as you would expect from the massiera/torelli trademark, all tracks are great and the lp a worthy addition to any self-respecting italo / cosmic collection.

when it comes to being a man of many talents, there are few to equal richard norris. dj, producer, musician, a&r man, author and journalist... his is a career of many twists and turns which have always seen him at the forefront of pushing new ideas forward and championing diversity and innovation, be it alongside erol alkan as part of the wizards sleeve, or gone solo as the acclaimed time and space machine.

the debut palace brothers album was released in 1993 when much american music was going through a particularly bombastic period. in contrast >there is no one what will take care of you< sounded like a field recording, as though a tape of back porch confessionals recorded by alan lomax as an example of high southern gothic style, had been newly discovered and released.

the sense of palace brothers being a band was dispelled by oldhams second album >days in the wake<. initially released eponymously, >days in the wake< is, apart from the addition of some backing vocals on come a little dog, a solo album.

after conforces tight album release on delsin and other concept projects he did he/we went wild with this one and selected some tracks we just want to play out loud in a club from vinyl (incl. a killer remix by gesloten cirkel for the title track). at first sight these tracks dont have much in common... and probably still not for the second listen, but we didnt really bother for this one. it will be a standard in our dj box for the coming months with 4 tracks that all have a bit of a different groove and a different mood. grain, be there at night, 24 and 24 remixed by gesloten cirkel. this is probably as versatile as a clone basement release can get.
