from rome to glasgow through bavarian lands, analytic trail to forward its last project. the young frankyeffe comes from the success of his releases on labels like: remain records of axel karakasis, naked lunch of a.paul and kombination research of mr. cisco ferreira a.k.a. the advent. riot is the name of this ep made by four tracks, including remixes by harvey mckay and alex bau. first remixer comes from scotland with his debut album, machine make noise and the amazing project nightwalker on soma records. with starting his own label toneman back in 2000 alex bau also started to his soloproductions for labels like chris liebings clr and sleaze records with a great remix by alan fitzpatrick. riot has a straight kick, an obstinate synth reverbered in background and a sereies of short hihats. the track is mostly characterized from continuous aggressive snares that making an hard groove and all is surrounded by a fat bassline, old school techno style.

>aspen< is the name of christian loefflers single before his debut album on ki called >a forest<. the name of the single is not to be misunderstood as a dedication to the ski resort in colorado. its rather a dedication to christian loefflers home region in the north of germany. loeffler walked out into the forests near darss, to take field recordings of the trees that commonly grow in that area, which are called >aspen<. the landscape near darss is characterized by signs of storm and rough sea climate, but is also considered as a popular health resort in germany. the tracks on >aspen< create this contrary atmosphere: noise and silence, destruction and peacefulness, electronic sounds and traditional instruments unite in harmony. the cover artwork for >aspen< was taken by christian loeffler himself in the forests of darss.

in advance of the release of dapayk & padbergs third full-length sweet nothings - this time round on stil vor talent - the experienced duo are teasing us with the fluffy cloud ep, which showcases three of the albums many diverse highlights, while keeping the vinyl lovers happy. the a-side bears the lps title track >sweet nothings<, on which dapayk & padbergs sound takes a turn as they come knocking with a deep but forceful groover, whose distorted high-hats and trancey synth stabs create a vibe both euphoric and weirdly subdued. the lyrics, moreover, emphasise the duality at the core of many dapayk & padberg tracks as the latter ponders youre good for me - youre bad for me. showing another of the duos many facets, backyard enchants thanks to mystical lyrics sung beautifully over a deep quasi-dubstep structure. marking the eps mid-point, the atmospheric song shines through intricately crafted fragility and is the perfect contrast to the previous and following track, while leaving a strong desire for more stuck in the listeners mind. on the b-side, fluffy clouds does quite the opposite to what its title suggests - rather than being a soft little piece, we are treated to big-room techno fodder à la berghain. a skeletal framework of heavy kicks, dark pads, white noise and dense metallics works relentlessly underneath a cold spoken word, proclaiming >not human, not animal - just a body in motion<. machine funk par excellence.

after some time spent entertaining from distant lands, the circus company brings it all back home with a release purposefully written to pay tribute to the breeding ground for their unique strain of house music, paris. seuil stands proud as one of her most cherished creations, a man ever evolving as an artist from the structure and function of minimalist dancefloor music through to the esoteric expression and ambience of jazz, channelling that same swinging spirit that has characterised much of the work on circus company. the release of his -chamaeleonidae- album proved to the world that there was a strange musical spirit in seuil that manifested itself in live drums and languid keys, character traits you could associate with his fellow parisians dop. the collaborations between them have been many in recent years, and once again they come together to both complement and test each others styles in a surprising vision of what pop music could sound like if crafted with soul and imagination. the beats stay tight and steady throughout the three tracks that make up -fluctuat nec mergitur-, driving a foggy brew of strings, synths and drones into a commanding groove. meanwhile the composition gently rises and falls on waves of melody, as particular harmonies swell in to carry you away to a very blue kind of euphoria. such drama and passion captures the essence of both seuil and his beloved city in one heady brew of dancefloor excellence.
