o celebrate the 25th anniversary of ugkãs first album, get on down goes the extra mile, presenting it for the first time ever on vinyl. and 2-lp clear vinyl at that, giving the strutting, funky grooves the chance to really stretch out on your system. back in 1992, southern hip-hop was still proving to the world that it could sustain a fan base that was chiefly raised on rap from new york and la. the geto boys and 2 live crew had made strong cases by the earliest 90s, and pimp c and bun b were ready to make their own. most of the trunk-bumping bass comes from drum programs and basic sampling on these tunes in later years they would build their sound into something even fuller and deeper. self-produced with additional work from houston locals bernie bismark and shetoro henderson, the tracks here are minimal, slow and menacing, which matched their lyrical approach quite nicely. you can hear the beginnings of the groups true greatness in these early lyrical workouts ¹ several taken from the regional cassette-only ep the southern way that got them signed to jive with tales of street hustles, relationships and self-reliance in a world stacked against them. they may have been done early-on, but that doesnt mean they arent crucial to ugks legacy cases in point being the three singles: something good, a charismatic update to bill withers use me up, and pocket full of stones (the latter featured on the menace ii society soundtrack). beyond the singles, deeper cuts like iãm so bad, feels like iãm the one whos doin dope and cramping my style made it clear to the world that this crew had the attitude and charisma to make even bigger waves in the years to come.

almost 10 years have passed since onra arrived with the charmingly eccentric chinoiseries lp. 32 hip-hop beats formed the sample-based project - dusty chinese vinyl hissing and crackling throughout resulting in an intriguing and spontaneous mix of the producers interest in exploring a newly-discovered style of music with his love for classic hip-hop production.
using the style of analogue mpc production combined with the somewhat restrictive record sampling of strictly chinese music records, he has been able to be creative over three volumes, an amount of 100 instrumentals, despite the challenge of finding more obviously standout samples in chinese music.
the chinoiseries projects are the type of albums that invites the listener to play it from beginning to end, in order to really enjoy the trip and appreciate the variety of rhythms and textures spread over those 32 short instrumentals. in that way, pt.3 is no different to its predecessors, but the originality of the samples, the curious harmonies and the odd-drum patterns still makes the album sounds as fresh as the first one.
onra finishes this epic trilogy with class as a result of extended record digging across the far east and the producer s own development over the preceding 10 years.
as a producer who has released records inspired by 80s funk, 90s hip-hop and rnb, electronic and even a spiritual jazz project, pt. 3 brings this stylised set to a close.

das 1972 erschienene selbstbetitelte debütalbum der deutschen gruppe oratorium ist eines jener seltenen alben, die in einer gewissen mystik gehüllt sind. dies ist ein album das dich in eine heilige und übernatürliche welt einlädt, zu einem kompromisslosen religiös-progressiven rock. unter der leitung von komponist bernhard hornig wurde die band 1967 unter dem namen christliche einheit mit dem schwerpunkt auf religiöser musik gegründet. die ursprüngliche besetzung der band bestand aus drei brüdern und zwei klassenkameraden, alle noch jugendliche zu der zeit. die hornig-brüder waren die kreativen köpfe in der band. bernhard fungierte als komponist, georg kümmerte sich um das schreiben der texte und ihr jüngsten bruder rainer, der als mitglied eines berühmten deutschen jugendchores gesangsausbildung gehabt hatte, übernahm die hauptstimme.

doppel-lp-re-issue des zweiten vic chesnutt albums von 1992.180g schweres vinyl plus acht neue bonustracks. dieses album wurde, wie auch sein debüt, von michel stipe von r.e.m. produziert. vic chesnutt war seit seinem autounfall im jahr 1983 von der hüfte abwärts gelähmt, was in der folge zum missbrauch von schmerzmitteln und alkohol führte. trotz dieser belastungen veröffentlichte er in seiner karriere 17 alben/eps. am 25. dezember 2009 nahm sich vic chesnutt das leben. die aussicht mit der musik nicht genug zu verdienen, um seine medizinische betreuung aufrecht zu erhalten, führte zu dem tragischen schritt.

portable sunsets is one of the monikers of peter segerstrom: a producer based in brooklyn, us. he previously released his full-length album bless on atomnation, an lp as surfing on 1080p and another portable sunsets lp on deadelus magical property label. order is the follow up of these records and is a dreamy, somewhat lo-fi experimental techno lp. combined with an ancient ambient undertone, order is not loosing its club ready vibe. this record floats somewhere between laid-back warehouse techno and the electronica genre - very much representing a unique style: peter often uses his own voice in his productions, programmed through self-created synths in max/msp. vocals have become textures and are used as a synth, pad or soundscape. the combination of genres makes order a perfect record to dream away on at home, as well as to dance to in clubs.
