bold - the new born techno and techhouse label from berlin - is proud to present the first record from minigram, mastered by martin eyerer (riverside studios berlin). in 2016 minigram started to launch his own productions which allowed him to show his varied repertoire of music which also includes remixes of known and not yet known artists. over the past 20 years minigram has already carved out a career in electronic music as a dj. to create this sophisticated and immersive record that easily flows between techno and house, minigram is constantly playing with the expectation of the audience on the dancefloor.

the frankonia ep is the result of the collaboration between nils weimann and martin glowacz, which started many years ago. side a serves two different, powerful tracks. frankonia comes with warm atmospheres and spaces. driven by the interaction of bass and synth lines, wrapped in some subtile delayed textures. lower has a rollin bass structure, combined with smashing vocals and surrounded by resonating marbles. side b belongs paul agripa’s interpretation of frankonia. he’s also known as a part of ragrip and comoji. the remix takes you on a 13 minutes trip, carried by a harmonic baseline, extended spaces and melodies. play it loud! early support by cezar, sedee, vlad arapasu.

constantin xenakis work possesses exactly what i really love about intelligent electronic music. its stylishly repetitive, coded, mechanical but, at the same time, very organic and playful. this is how argyris theofilis, also known as zodiac free arts club, explains his fascination with european artist constantin xenakis. born in cairo, xenakis work often includes written script, in particular symbols andcodes of everyday life, traffic signs, alchemy, the zodiac, mathematical and chemical symbols, egyptian hieroglyphics as well as letters from the greek, phoenician, hebrew and arabic alphabets.a balance between human and inhuman that makes his art somehow mystical. after becoming fixated by xenakis, the greek music producer searched and eventually met him for the first time in 2012. after several meetings in paris and athens, they both decided to present structures + codes, a concept album conceived as an homage to the painters vision. each one of the eight songs in the album corresponds to a painting by xenakis, translating its intricate shapes and patterns into spirit-lifting compositions filled with elliptic arpeggios, repetitive drum machines and esoteric melodies in proper kosmische manner. but this is not a mere exercise in style. as xenakis paintings, its music that transcends its own codes to become an esoteric experience. this record should be heard comfortably.

lybes dimem is a project by visual artist and musician lukas rehm. with elaborate beat structures and the use of error, the music plays with cognitive phenomena and abstraction while maintaining an emotional refuge. lybes dimem is presented in formats ranging from spatial sound experiences to synesthetic shows complementing the auditive layers with visualizations of realtime data, computer graphics and moving image. lukas rehms installative art, and compositions have been internationally presented and awarded with multiple emerging arts prices. syncleft chronem is the first album released by lybes dimem in both digital and vinyl for-mat and accompanied by a moving image artwork. the title reflects the projects interest in the potential of difference, cognitive frictions and exertion: sync variability in the processing of auditive and visual signals, syncleft the synaptic cleft, which is a crucial empty spa- ce in biological neural networks, chronem the chroneme as a theoretical unit to measure the time of an articulated sound. mathematically clean sounds juxtapose patterns and transitions familiar from the realm of organic acoustics. multi-layered noise textures ex- plore the simulated space. a tem- porary continuity is provided by percussive and melodic elements, right until the next escalation, eventually awaiting a concluding resolution. the visual language explores different phenomena and techniques of cognition inspired by the rhetorics of big science (computer graphics, discontinuity of material, pop cultural references).

caused corruption & spilled blood is a soundtrack to the tragic drama of humanity’s fatal flaws. inspired by an anecdote shared across the abrahamic faiths, the release is a meditation on humanity’s destructive potential. it forces us to confront the ugly side of our nature and pose the question, were the angels right to fear our creation would cause corruption and spill blood? same script, no solution provides one answer. the sonification of “ordo ab chao,” the opening track guides the listener through the process of public manipulation, providing a backtrack to the obstruction of the truth for personal gain. third degree arson touches on humanity’s second vice: the affinity for intentional destruction. is there hope against these demons of our own nature? no divine savior suggests not. if we cannot rely on divine intervention for our salvation, that leaves only ourselves to overpower our own vices. yet with the discord of the final track, sects, the listener is reminded of the deep cultural fissures that keep us from doing so. the caused corruption & spilled blood ep is a powerfully provocative examination of human nature, a compelling first release from the collaborative efforts of chafik chennouf & katsunori sawa.

uncage founder marco faraone makes his second appearance on rekids with a massive vocal cut entitled ‘on my way’, featuring a remix from 50weapons and hyperdub’s addison groove. the italian techno producer had an active year touring in 2017, dropping only one release on tenax recordings. however, 2018 is already proving to be one of his busiest on the production front, with releases appearing on rekids special projects, on edge society and his own label uncage, not to mention forthcoming appearances on gigolo and avotre. he now returns to rekids with his biggest sounding record yet. with its infectious vocal, rolling kicks and off-beat hats, it is undeniable that ‘on my way’ is destined to become one of this year’s most recognisable club tracks. on the flip, bristolian producer and swamp 81 affiliate addison groove has produced an intricate remix featuring a cacophony of percussion as a stuttering low-end joins chilling synths. finally, faraone concludes the package with a ‘dub acid rework’, losing the vocals whilst incorporating heady 303 licks.

transit valley is the debut release by joe coghill, a multi-disciplinary artist, musician and experimental publisher based in edinburgh. his practice incorporates sound, video, performance, social sculpture, facilitation and media distribution. borrowing from multiple spheres of influence, his scattered output operates from a liminal position. coghill works in an improvised and often haphazard way, incorporating disparate field recordings, modular synthesis and other sonic ambiences to create unpredictable and ephemeral multi-layer audio-visual performances. alongside this coghill has been producing music recreationally in his various bedroom studios over the past 14 years

joanne formans cave vaults of the moon created in 1987 for an exhibit of sculptures in taos, new mexico is a mesmerizing score for voice, ensoniq mirage, juno 106, flute, guitar and effects. the playful extra-terrestrial recording wafted through the exhibit every day for its duration and then lay dormant for nearly 30 years. unearthed now, cave vaults of the moon sounds prescient and timeless, as if pep llopis and iasos scored a wicker man remake set on mars. restored, remastered and cut using dmm.

the project which was started back in 2009 by the two danish producers, dennis bøg better known as resoe, owner of baum records and its off shoot baum limited picture edition, and kenneth christiansen owner of echocord records. each of their releases move into different realms of techno,and have gained support from the upper echelons of dance music, from the likes of rodhad, levon vincent, and dario zenker.

a crawling filtered synth opens ‘009a’, murky kick drums and syncopated high-hats join it, to create a long winding warehouse melody, these are then exchanged for the hazy sounds of white noise of ‘009b’ packed with cold eerie drones, that are met by charged hums that fizz away and bring the release to a close.

roxymore returns with the latest instalment in her thoughts of an introvert series. the first part, which hit stores in 2017, was born out of introspection and a yearning for solitude. tracks like prodrome, which refers to symptoms indicating the early onset of an illness, seemed to reflect a global weariness, a head-nodding, late night search for comfort and respite. on part 2 though, a new energy is evident in the tracks. this is not what you think shrugs and fizzes with resilience, it feels like a maniacal, primal release from frustration and anguish. run feet finds an even more optimistic, upbeat bounce, not far from the stomping house euphoria of her first outing for dba, organ smith, but with the newfound confidence of an artist who is pushing both technology and style to the outer limits. mythical technology meanwhile, is a dancefloor-ready paean to technos own futurist manifesto.

for over 4 years, david coccagna aka chaperone has been a constant part of great circles, as musician, art director, and muse. with snapback balaclava he once again fully embodies all of those roles, delivering three inspiring tracks, selecting his remixers with specific attention to their musical histories, and designing his cover art. across the a-side, chaperone scrapes away at the grit – personal grit, the grit of anxiety, and philly grit. these are meditations on loops, and loops on meditations. each one appears on the surface to be a brief quote, but time dilation takes over, and minutes later we discover that chaperone has welcomed us into and back out of his own healing moment. like chaperone s p o n d release grcr-009, the b-side of snapback balaclava is a great circles extended family affair with a trio of diverse remixes that expose and exploit fragments of the chaos chaperone so carefully contained. hitoshi kojima thrive reinterprets pulse feels swells beating with relentless syncopated rhythms and synth lines that hang like massive string drones. m//r lays down a signature percussion ensemble palette, zeroes in on otherwise peripheral elements of grit neglect, and then deftly navigates sea change with both. matt korvette and sean mcguinness of philly punk band pissed jeans open up the pit and finish the story, taking femur baseball bat to its literal and brutal potential with monstrous vocals and kicks.

dsordne (pronounced disordine) is a project from torino, italy that evolved as group out of the electronic experimental post punk project novostj in 1987. at the core of dsordne is marco milanesio, musical engineer and co-founder of the hax record label, joined by a revolving cast of musicians. their spectrum ranged from experimental to structured electro-poetry and soundtrack like instrumental electronic music. in 1987 they released their first track on a split-single with the legendary pink dots. between 1987 and 1994 they released 6 full length albums, 3 split-eps and appeared on various cassette compilations.

for alan oldham, artistic expression is a way of life, taking multiple forms and medi-ums throughout his lifetime. before he was ever known as dj t-1000, he was a published car-toon artist and radio dj in detroit writing press releases for underground resistance to get by. one day, underground resistance was in need of a last minute dj for their tour in aus-tralia, and a door flew open for alan oldham. with passport in hand he departed on his jour-ney as a dj, which little did he know would eventually span continents. influenced by every-thing around him, his work has dynamically changed and evolved along with his life. currently as an international dj living in berlin, his latest creation is the acidspace ep, released by elypsia records under the detroitrocketscience name. the traveler himself takes us on an intergalactic adventure, beginning with acidspace (8:48). with a steady beat and a unique blend of serene space sounds, this jam excites the imagination for the journey to come. it is followed by rocket to berlin (7:20), a subtle and intricate mix that entices one to enter the unknown. vesta system (6:22) finishes the ep off on a note that leaves lis-teners grooving and enjoying the ride. creativity and sweet sounds are what its all about for alan oldham. with his recent musical shift to mellower, sci-fi inspired jams, he continues to let listeners see for themselves.
