our first release is by one of our favourite artists and genius musician, stl. we spoke to stephan in great length about our concept and idea for the label, after some time he sent us these specific tracks. manoeuvring along dubby and dusty grooves, with dreamy melancholic ambient textures and a epic 17 minute -untitled dubscape-. this record is as much to dance too in a club as it is to listen too at home.

during the last three years a new name has been making waves at ostgut ton and berghain: berlin born, raised and based producer kobosil made his debut with a remix of barker & baumeckers silo (ostgut ton, 2013), completely unknown at the time, he has quickly earned his stripes as a dj on the clubs main floor, eventually becoming a resident at berghain. following up on five subsequent 12 releases and kobosils first live sets, his debut album sees him covering yet new ground in the form of a full length release.

the idea of purity is always recurring when talking about techno. although purism has long been relegated to a mere excuse for fear, when understood not as vindication of a certain dogma, but as a way of approaching creative expression, purity is, as a matter of a fact, inseparable from the genre. after all, techno is something like the pursuit of transcendence - either visceral, cerebral or spiritual - through the strictly necessary means only. the search of the truest forms by just outlining them. all of this brings us to the story of uniformity , orbe s first release for hivern. the 12 comes wrapped in a screen printed sleeve with design by arnau pi.

an underwater adventure by young parisian shelter. where previous releases have seen the synth-obsessed frenchman take his inspiration from caribbean rhythms or balearic attitudes, this marine missive sees shelter turn to the lavish world of the library, creating his an alternate score to jean faurez 1960 documentary short.
bruce aka larry mccarthy is set to release his debut album sonder somatic this october on uk imprint hessle audio. the album packs 11 singular uk club tracks that evoke a distinctly emotive and dense energy, channelling detailed sound designs, tangled textures and club anthems for 2018 and beyond
opener laguna is a loopy, liquid track of fluttering drums and rubbery kicks that never lets up. ortica is more gloopy and wonky, with firmer kicks and aqueous sounds dripping off the groove, while lyra is beautifully delicate and intricate, with underwater life forms drifting by as gentle xylophones sounds dance around. the masterful minimalism continues on the dark, undulating and alien vilipendio, and things round out with the paranoid voices and panning synths of mekong , an unsettling track that has you looking over your shoulder.
yagyas rigning album from 2009 is the icelandic producer s most acclaimed dub, techno and minimal masterpiece. due to popular demand, delsin are now re-issuing it across three slabs of vinyl. previously only available as a double pack with eight tracks, the new re-mastered version features all 10 of the tracks from the original cd. gumundsson has been making music for years both solo and as part of the thule musik collective. he is an album specialist who has worked as yagya since 2002 and has put out six albums since then. they come on labels like force inc and sending orbs where rigning was first released and manage to be both absorbing and detailed yet suitable for relaxing background listening. his last two albums, sleepygirls (2014) and stars & dust (2016) appeared on delsin records. rigning is essentially one long track split into movements. it depicts a city sleeping as gentle rain falls and dubbed out grooves zone you out. yagyas style is always patient and slow burning, his grooves are long and drawn out and his pads reach up into the heavens. this whole album in coated in a warm fuzz and is a real comfort on dark, long, cold nights. as insular and melancholic as it is, there is also plenty of beauty in the melodies and delicate keys. from dark and gloomy to more optimistic and meditative, there is a sophistication throughout this always cinematic album that continues to make it stand out nearly a decade after it was first released.
with el tunel / proceso , marc pinol and hugo capablanca aced their blend of industrial, acid, techno and new beat in an ep that remains one of the most celebrated moments in the hivern catalogue. now, the evasive duo return to set the bar even higher. four years might seem quite a lot of time, but for c.p.i. it was the necessary period to get rid of expectations and let space for something new to emerge. studio sessions in places like berlin, barcelona, and belgrade brought together an amalgam of voices, spontaneous liasons, mutations and surprising movements that finally crystallised in the four cuts that conform meine hand . masa y poder and sendero luminoso are two sides of the same coin. under all the layers, both ride exactly the same rhythm. two completely different paths that share a common starting point. one builds tension on the dancefloor. the other one tries to fool the threat in the mist. with it s unrelenting acid bassline and lethargic vocals, meine hand feels like some kind of love from above, yet another unexplainable conclusion. ninos de belgrado are, in fact, the children of belgrade. high on drugs. an impending sense of doom. longing for wasted years or perhaps an external threat lurking, who knows. vinyl comes in a standard black cover with insert by designer arnau pi.
spoki (ghosts) is the sound of an artist putting their private world to tape. of exploring and pushing the limits of themselves and technology to realise the music in their head. recorded in riga between 1988-2011. as ingus bauskenieks himself explains: my own world differs a little from my friends tastes. and as my father said the collective art is not art at all. the music of ingus bauskenieks is both deeply private and completely alien. experimental yet happy to celebrate pop influences such as engelbert humperdinck, simon & garfunkel or fleetwood mac. it is shaped by the artists engagement with technology and his strive to put to record his own world. as ingus explains, it is the sound of him: doing what i like to do.
external assessment vs. self-conception by robag wruhme: people always think, im that serene and quiet guy, but actually i’m quite a noisemaker. could be that the majority of the material he put out in recent years, most notably the thora vukk album, led to the overall apprehension of robag being the virtuoso of everything subtle, enigmatic and tenderly melodic. well, thats far from being a misconception, but still just one side of the coin. the other side is embossed with his most current productions, consolidated to a double ep, captioned with the enchanting name wuzzelbud ff. wait a second wuzzelbud devoted fans will instantly prick up their ears. we’ve heard that before. back in 2004 robag wruhme released his first longplayer named wuzzelbud kk. as theres no such scenario robag might be running out of stream-of-consciousness turned nonsense titles for his music, this must be a vocabulary intersection linking the early days of his career with its status quo. and it is. wruhme presents wuzzelbud ff as the stylistic follow-up to his debut album, showcasing a sound he commits has been neglected for too long. wruhme cuts to the chase: i wanted to put out some straightforward music for the dancefloor, something for the primetime. well, for the primetime of my sets, at least.

one of our most mysterious and intriguing states of consciousness is the dream. we lose consciousness when we enter the deep waters of sleep, only to regain it as we emerge into a series of uncanny private realities. through the fog of the mind we can get a glimpse of a world beyond our day to day realities that sometimes is able to show us deeper truths than those we face in awake states. roger is one of those lucid pioneers that is able to translate these experiences into sound. let him guide you through these wondrous clouds. were very happy to welcome dutch-born german-raised roger van lunteren on sohaso for the first time. his rosa dos ventos ep is a four-track story that oozes retro vibes and nostalgia for a past that never seems to have existed. utilizing raw 80’s analog synths and humanoid acid lines he sets atmospheres that remind of lynchian dreamscapes. vanish starts out with an emotional chord sequence, as you enter the fluid world of the subconscious. a gnarly bassline welcomes your arrival and lets you know things here aren’t exactly what they seem. journeying on through seemingly dark areas, it ends with a hopeful melody and the bass softens as you start feeling weightless. uncontacted uses choral pads and two intertwining 303 sequences as a way of communicating between the different dimensions. aroy dee remixing vanish is like taking a psychotropic liquid, adding more drive to the original while retaining the emotive synth patterns. sleepless is rogers hardest cut on the record, again providing directly plugged in 303 goodness and stomping beats. it rounds off a balanced ep with plenty of introspective dance material.

r&s proudly presents a retrospective round up of mariel ito aka eric estornel’s futuristic yet heartfelt electro. an early alias of the cuban miami born eric estornel the mariel ito trademark driving percussion, deep pads and hypnotic arrangements saw releases on iconic imprints like modern love, and scsi av at the turn of the century before being put into hibernation from 2006 onwards. estornel on the genesis of the project: -when i was 3 years old, miami suddenly became flooded with refugees from cuba called the mariel boatlift. there was a huge crime wave and cubans that had been in miami for years would call the -bad- refugees marielitos. i was a problematic and hyperactive kid constantly getting into trouble, and eventually my teachers began calling me el marielito.- fast forward to 2000, while thinking of a new name for this project eric settled on mariel ito as a nod to the cuban community. -usually only miami cubans understand the pun- he adds. electro had always been a popular sound in miami during eric s formative years there, he gravitated towards its futurism as well as the its emphasis on sound design, synth work and beat programming. his natural facility for emotive melodies and irrestistable grooves are immediately evident in the ten tracks on this release. composed between 2000 and 2005 the music takes cues from the iconic idm and electro sounds of the mid / late 90s putting a new twist on broken beats and synthetics, artists such as aphex twin, gescom, bitstream, gimmick, pendle coven, the pioneering sheffield bleep sound and of course, a certain infamous belgian imprint.

the new album from danish electronic trio system is a special kind of collaborative effort with piano magician nils frahm. his purpose-built improvisations on synth, organ and piano served as source material for the members of system (thomas knak, anders remmer & jesper skaaning), who merged his warm acoustic tones with their minimalist digitalism and set out to translate their distinctive clicks ’n’ cuts electronics into vivid soundscapes. over two years in the making, the resulting nine tracks are as sonically intriguing as they are touching. ranging from the mellow bliss of the title track to echoes of 90’s and 2000’s electronica and ambient sequences frequented by mesmerizing movements and sounds. the blending of piano and digital tones and noises into emotive pieces might instantly recall the work of alva noto and ryuichi sakamoto, though system and frahm come to quite different results.
