albrecht la brooy s analogue attic imprint welcomes citizen maze onto its roster with the four-track serenity in the woods ep. australian duo albrecht la brooy have been steadily carving out a name for themselves over the past few years with their jazz-inflected take on deep house via the likes of apollo/r&s, night tide and of course their own analogue attic imprint which has become a home for their own output as well as fellow australian artists like sleep d, rings around saturn and more. here though we see the label offer up the inaugural ep from melbourne s adam mccoy aka citizen maze. leading on the package is the ten-minute natural playgroun , embracing the labels signature field recording background aesthetic whilst stirring in organic drum grooves, fluttering pads and jazzy sax licks throughout. glade hollow follows with bumpy, off-kilter drums and ethereal chords at its core whilst horn lines and twinkling synth melodies wander across its eight-minute duration. moonlight sanctuary opens the flip-side, edging into darker territories with murky dubbed out synth flourishes, robust drums and tension building strings before title-track serenity in the woods rounds out the package, laying focus on a snaking sub bass groove, metallic percussive shuffles and expansive atmospherics.

another very special ep on al zanders a to z label teaming up this time with vocalist sheyi, for a one-off foray into broken beat territory. the story of its inspiration begins with a trip to notting hill record & tape exchange... after asking for some broken beat, the assistant ventured a withering opinion that -won t be monotonous enough, try the house music section instead- turns out it was phil asher of co-op fame - who, after establishing a genuine desire for said genre - sold al a bunch of west london music which became the influence for this ep. allowing sheyi to shine over a bare bones, syncopated rhythm track on the title cut and an equally stripped down satisfy al amps up the groove, with the g.i.t dub, which was made for ig culture s radio show. limited run on these - don t snooze !

folks, here is tilly jam number four, served by till von sein with a striking can�t stop, won�t stop attitude. as if the first three fourtrackers were just heating things up, he�s firing out another ensemble of four to bring serious exercise to the floor. �say say say�, the opening title track of this ep checks many trademarks its originator is known and praised for. an explicitly soulful affair, even flexing some g-funk muscles here and there. crackling vinyl noise in the background, warm and thick bass footing, a bassline doing the filterhouse-routine and a sample heavy arrangement that even gets a boost-up after half of its running time. then there is �shadrach�. go do some exegesis if interested where that name stems from. we can assure you, this jazz-infused build-up including nervous hi-hat patterns, a boldly bass groove, a frenzy drum-solo, inciting chants and a horn section scaling things up, stems directly from peaktime heaven. and on b1, �impala� is taking up the thread of this rather outgoing vibe, tvs is going for with this set of tunes. find an energetic beat providing the ground work for filtered adlibs that kinda nail what comes to mind when this track gets mixed in. �whoo-hoo-hoo� � that�s right. just add some subtle percussive lining and let a saxophone take over and you�ll have another trigger for floor-ecstasy at hand. cooling things off a little bit it�s �baden powell dr� as closing cut. tilly is winding up the melancholy-meter on this one, reversing elements and by adding pianochords and synth-pads, infusing an overall mood of wind-whistling summertime-sadness

bill browns super rare brownstone release is one for the deep heads, less well known than label mate everyday people but just as rare and collectable. shuffling sunshine soul its all about the groove and feeling. 500 copies only. one for the heads. bill brown and al hall jr met around 1971, they were both in south central l.a and shared the same apartment building, also in the same building was doug carn and brownstone singer billy wilson. these studio sessions were done at paramount studios hollywood where al hall jr was working for producer art smith a&c music. the main distributor for a&c was accent records.

label head steven rutter joins forces with john shima (fs005) on this bright ep with its direction turned towards the light. the heavenly �skywards� leads the way upwards with tenderly treated spacious drum programming and light-as-air atmospherics while darker and deeper cavernous tones create the yin-yang balance of lightness and dark. �broken spell� continues the uplifted vibe of a spell that when broken, blooms open with an intoxicating permeating sweetness like an exotic fragrance that lingers in one�s memory. �a new day� leans slightly more towards a heavier driven track featuring a funky bassline with bright electronic notations as counterpoint while drifting, dreamy pads keep the overall mood airy and light. the off-kilter knob is turned way right on the bouncy final track �disjointed route�, injecting dashes of wry quirk alongside a lightly moving groove.

after being one of the many standouts on the we are opilec�! vol. iii compilation back in 2016, i-robots glamouflage is now getting a full vinyl release with artwork by tomozo kevorkian, who was designer for nyc s body & soul, and remixes by a standout team of producers from japan to switzerland to south africa and the usa. opening up the ep is a fantastic new take ii version from label boss i-robots, who added exclusive chinese vocal samples recorded on the streets of huang jiang city many years ago. the track is inspired by ennio morricone and supermax and is a loose and infectious groove with brilliant drums and percussion and an elastic bassline that really gets you moving. it s a subtle update to the original�also included here as a bonus cut�which itself is a steamy and tropical sounding groove. swiss electronic pioneer schaltkreis wassermann then features on a version of the original that reaches for the cosmos with its rugged bass riffs, tumbling toms and busy, ever evolving groove. it has a big breakdown with exotic synths wandering through the night and oodles of effects and big guitar licks. the first of the remixes comes from kuniyuki takahashi who has been a big supporter of i-robots since 2000. he is a sound designer from japan who had a compilation of his works put out by music from memory back in february. his version is laden with cosmic synths and chants, grunting and organic drums and is sure to be massive this summer thanks to its open air vibes. detroit s underrated but vital gary martin is the boss of the teknotika label and his version featuring colten decker playing an unusual sax line shows another side to the motor city. it s a curious and mysterious tune that makes for an unsettling atmosphere that keeps you locked throughout as it snakes along.

for the first in a series of reinterpretations of material from linkwood s superb expressions album, firecracker recordings has turned to chicago deep house veterans ghosts of the sky (aka perpetual rhythms chicagodeep and taelue), and fast-rising machine abusers nummer. the latter dive into an aquatic techno tip, turning the becalmed and melancholic love lost into a techno-tempo stroll through vintage carl craig chords, sweaty machine percussion, and yearning melodies. theres a warmer and heavier, if surprisingly stripped back, feel to ghosts of the sky s version of object, with spluttering electronics and sumptuous chords stretching out over a rich synth bassline and hissing, cymbal-heavy groove.

after a ten year long career releasing music with many different labels icicle has taken the logical next step and started his own imprint, entitled entropy music. the name derived from his second album �entropy� still aims to inspire the concept that music behaves as all things do in nature and degrades, falls apart and becomes more chaotic with time. in an effort to confront this, entropy music strives to bring controlled, rolling, technically detailed music, without ever overstepping that line when the process becomes inhuman and cold. on this second release on entropy music icicle teams up with kindred spirit and cousin proxima to deliver a four track collaborative ep. the opening track which also welcomes ben verse to the label, is rolling tech funk pur sang. the weighty and detailed yet simple breathing groove make it a track true to the entropy ethos and ben complements this with his trademark lyrics reminiscent of renegade hardware shows past. on the a2. icicle brings a near wooden stepper with a viscous turbulent low-end, a firm wink to the past, with dust me off. icicle�s track is expertly offset by proxima�s solo offering retrace a peak into futurism boasting an evolved playful groove which takes on board equal measures of jump up and 90�s tech. the ep is rounded up by the title track deep dreaming, where icicle and proxima collaborate once more to bring a slight curve-ball. pianos ring in an eerie musical intro to a dark but sultry track where the energy is second to the atmosphere.

last spotted tomfooling as tryck & ton with edvin edvinsson, and prior to that as tiedye on mike simonettis italians do it better imprint, subversive swede anton klint makes his debut on simonettis latest label 2mr with two more vitally trippy, heavily dub-informed originals. �mun chugs at a stately 107. rippling in places, squiggling in others, theres an unabashed fx weirdness bubbling and popping over the insistent shimmering dubwise groove. tweaking, freaking but running at such a smooth temper theres space between the chaos, anton is balancing some heavily hypnotic alchemy here. �strupe takes things even lower and slower. a dusty bluesy chugger, unhurried-yet-relentlessly building with a great sense of cosmic drama, listen and marvel as more elements are precision introduced throughout the seven minute trip. a masterclass in modern day honkytonk. remix-wise were thrusted into the later hours with a technoid twist from andre laos. maintaining antons originals trippy charm and measured pace but re-amping it with grittier foundation, teasing risers and an insurgent synth strike, its the perfect complement to one of 2mrs most singular releases to date. open wide.

david mayer�s career and background is marked by a desire to keep moving and experiencing new perspectives. having finally settled in berlin, the german dj and producer has built up an enviously diverse back catalogue on labels such as connected frontline, objektivity, gruuv, audiomatique and keinemusik. with his first release on acid pauli and nico stojan�s ouie label, mayer brings his trademark groove to the fore once more. �the call� is a mid tempo chugger built around a kick, clap and 808 blip, before a more organic groove develops. the slowed down chants and wigged out synth line take the vibe into afro cosmic territory, without losing the original energy. �sooner� is a little more urgent - a crisp, forward leaning rhythm and a deep, subby bass lead the way, before another frazzled synthesiser takes us on a melodic walkabout. �black queen� is another example of mayer�s slick drum programming, keeping things zesty on the dance floor but with acres of space to lose yourself in.

repress: this is the sort of record that could only have been made by someone with a vast amount of experience. producer nick dunton has a decade s worth of releases behind him, and it shows. sketches of my life veritably skips between electronic sounds and styles. it s deeply rooted in techno and electronica and specifically the clean futurisms of detroit s belleville three but steadfastly refuses to stick to one particular groove. once offers heady dub techno enriched by cascading piano figures, lost love bittersweet electro. fallen and abandoned virtues, meanwhile, evoke memories of teenage nights lost in the otherworldly sounds of warps pioneering artificial intelligence compilations.

the second in the skins whitelabel series delivers yet more carefully crafted dub techno for the dancefloor. opener �sahara sky� begins with menacing low-end atmospherics, with slowly evolving pads and chords forming an assured groove punctuated by dreamy synth lines. �eve� is similarly groove-based, with its relentless forward momentum kept in check by a wistful descending chord sequence. in both, skins lends the spaciousness synonymous with dub techno a club-focused kineticism, creating versatile tracks that allow djs to transform the vibe, whether building up or winding down. the record also features two synth tools: an energetic acid/dub fusion and a stripped-back polymetric chord jam, offering myriad possibilities for textural play and keeping listeners guessing

the 8th instalment of am records contains 4 percussive edits by afrobot, the grooves function as dj tools for various occasions.
-soca trance- will bring some extra heat on the dance floor, it s a heavily cut-up, rough electronic soca rhythm with fragments of looped steeldrum melody on top. -i m alive- is another latin banger, a piece of proto house with some lush vocals in the background and a synthesized tropical bird flying over. on the flip, kalao is an underground afro/french drum track with lots of flanged percussion, cheering black vocals and an elephant passing by. body & soul is the most discoish edit of all: a hypnotic groove with a killer baseline (and a flute sound) interrupted by an uplifting drumbreak.

when jackmaster opened his mixmag covermount mix with arthur baker & dave clarkes collaboration from 2001 it shone a new light on this southern fried classic. it demanded a re-release and two new remixers were entasked. first up man power, whose recent releases on futureboogie and dfa are turning heads, and also rising star cody currie whose output on pusic & razor n tape make him an ideal fit. dj support: groove armada - love the man power remix! fouk - really awesome, we remember this one from back in the days! loving the cody currie remix, full support the 2 bears - great! black loops - sick release! diggin all the mixes :)

going from solid crunchy house grooves (light years from you) and an ethereal mix of breaks, pads and crisp percussion (reality) on one side of the vinyl, to a more extrapolated back side: wanna e, with its unexpected groove and drops, ready to tear up an unsuspecting dancefloor, closer feeling like a timeless breakbeat classic and with 1997 (vocal mix) forming an elegant, emotional last note of the ep.

n our extremely talented artist pool we have the luxury of being able to work with local icelandic talent and for our 6th instalment in the lagaffe series we managed cook up a long awaited collaboration with a close friend and producer intr0beatz. intr0beatz has been known in the local music scene for quite some time and became one of the most iconic hip hop producers in iceland with the group forgotten lores. after the scene evolved and took changes intr0beatz reinvented himself as a house music producer. with intr0beatz you never go wrong. a long time hip-hop producer went housey on us, and he got the groove. house and old school hip-hop have a lot in common sampling and chopping old disco/soul tracks is the foundation of both. so this came naturally for him. the four-tracker includes the tracks dumpin (a1), mystery ride (a2), tapas (b1) and desco (b2).

croatian producer ilija rudman returns to classic with his funk-drenched �lovers change minds�. well-known for his distinctive analogue-disco sound, the record�s delivery on 12� vinyl comes as a perfect pairing. he remains reverent to his well-rounded retro style with heavily filtered soft vocals complimented by a deep 70s-centric bassline. hot toddy�s bass-focused mixes come laden with electric guitar riffs and synth flares for an even slicker groove on ilija�s smoothly minimalist masterpiece.

coming out in late july from the man who brought you e ruscha v s -who are you- to great acclaim earlier this year is secret circuit s 2nd ep for invisible inc, the cryptically titled -out of body interiors-. featuring four exclusive new tracks of the acid drenched, dubbed out, tropical disco variety mr ruscha, as always, delivers a sonic palette you won t find on many other imprints: from the turbo-charged homage to early 90s bleep meets indie rave euphoria of stomping ground, through the chugging, motorik groove of crazy ways which sounds like it s blasting out full volume from a smoke-filled space patrol hovercar gone rogue then flipping over to side b and waking up in mali, andromeda in a haze of syncopated percussion, other-worldly guitar licks and a billion new synthetically generated sounds that you may strongly suspect you just imagined.....to finally the feather drop which brings entirely new meaning to the word deep and which fires technicolour sounds of profoundly immense variety at the synapses at a rate of knots not many other producers can keep up with as all the while the bass holds court and keeps things deep rooted and dub heavy. secret circuit (aka eddie ruscha v) has had a plethora of releases on an equally expansive plethora of labels under such names as the parels (lal lal lal), blasé (esp institute), food of the gods/laughing light of plenty (whatever we want), odd numbers ( no label), shadow kids (el diablo s social club) and of course as secret circuit (beats in space, emotional response and invisible, inc.)

tatu metsätähti and tatu peltonen formed their electro duo mr velcro fastener in the small town of turku, finland back in 1995. in 1999, after a couple of twelve inches, they released their first full length album �lucky bastards living up north� on i220, which was well noted (not only for its hyper colourful cover art by the designers republic). the album took the duo touring in europe and overseas, and led to further releases on labels like stars-music, ali b�s air recordings, solina records, cyber dance and of course billy nasty�s electrix, as well as remixes for the likes of hardfloor, marco carola, dk8, transparent sound and aux88. returning to electrix with their third full ep for the label (and a gap of 13 years!) they have delivered their own unique and recognizable electro sound with two new cuts. �a monster in two worlds� with its electro-funk sound, classic vocoded vocals and grinding groove is a perfect opener, while �bakteriofag� (bacteriophage in english) like its name, creeps up like a virus, infecting the senses with its crisp and shining melody. additionally, there�s remixes of �a monster in two worlds� from silicon scally (carl finlow in his electro guise) and m-twelve (the new moniker recently launched by billy nasty and surface�s nick dunton) to complete the line-up.

the brooklyn duo of bryce hackford and joakim teamed up again, this time as joyce, 2 years after their debut as jhack. a two track 12inch featuring a thumping and heady psychedelic deep house groove, in a classic prescription zone, on the a-side (bubbles). on the b-side, die siesta is a tribal ode to the balearic art of napping, a moody live percussion improvisation jumping down the bpm and floating on filtered piano chords.

crs ltd 005, -gray fox- is the first ep from the polish producer michal jablonski on vsk s label, following the last ep from the duo scalameriya and vsk himself. -find god- opens the release with an organic broken beat , which meet an evil cinematic voice. -post human being- is the hypnotic element of the release with a dark tribal groove. -gray fox- has a strong 4/4 kickdrum combined to a sound design high frequency scream. -phantom pain- is a madness slow beat rhythm with outstanding soundscape layers. crs ltd is really glad to welcome this amazing talent on the label.

legalize lambada step up for their 4th outing with four delectable afro disco edits from sputnik. �superlove see s sputnik channel a south-african take on early garage house before melting feeling fine , the reggae tinged, afro boogie gem. on the flip side, groove me unearths some feel good cameroonian disco gold complete with killer guitar solo, whilst rick closes out the e.p. dropping the tempo for a synth soul, slow jam. with early support from hunee, lexx and the likes, leg004 is shaping up to be one of the summers standouts.

its a captivating encounter when a producer of relative anonymity bursts onto the scene with an exciting and engaging release, that you re drawn back to again and again, wondering how you ve never heard of them before. porto producer pedro, & washington dc vocalist jenna camille have achieved exactly that with this first release on the mighty wolf music recordings. the influences from jazz though to soul, rnb & broken beat are weaved deep within this record. you re drawn in from the off with an intro of stripped back pianos behind an emotional spoken word monologue from jenna, before it opens up into a beatsy, rnb infused groove. having pulled you in float hits you with a richness of synth textures, layers of broken beats and dreamy chords alongside jennas float mantra hypnotising you deeper and deeper. reaching the last section of the track though you re woken from that hypnotic groove with a switch to a raw and energetic breakbeat sure to get any crowd moving. keep it h 2000 , the final track on the a side, has a real flavour of fatima to it emanating from jenna s blissful vocals - laid over the top of sustained rhodes, weighty synth lines and dynamic drums. flip it over and there s a tougher intensity to future dance (it ll be ok) , coupling rhythmic stabs with jazzy chord progressions, laced behind a groove that wouldn t be out of place lighting up the floor at a co-op night. to close out the e.p. you re given a sensory overload through jenna s staggered, overlaid vocals panned to come at you from every angle its the perfect outro to both stun you and leave you wanting more. and if this extremely well-polished, first key release is a sign of things to come, pedros name will be becoming a lot more familiar in years to come. support from afronaught (bugz in the attic), bradley zero, henry wu, lefto, atjazz & osunlade
