premium quality vinyl reissue of the highly collectible promo-only 12 inch *i, i, i* by unlikely balearic heroes the osmonds. first released in 1979, this fruitful collaboration between the proto-boyband and legendary pop-disco producer maurice gibb is a wonderful slab of chugging syncopated cosmic disco rock topped off with lush string arrangements which despite being criminally overlooked at the time of its original release, has recently garnered much favour with balearic aficionados. also surprisingly good is the flipsides *you re mine*, a more live sounding affair, coming across like steely dan met chicago at studio 54 and hit the studio on the way home. dont miss!
*o brother, where art thou?* was the soundtrack to the 2000 film set in mississippi during the great depression of the 1920s.the soundtrack, of bluegrass and mountain music produced by t-bone burnett was a huge commercial success winning three grammy awards including album of the year in 2002. most of the scenes in the film are set to powerful period songs which moves the story along and give the film its wonderful authentic feel.

mike oldfields sixth album was a beautiful blend of instrumentals and songs that showed how he was able to adapt to the shifting musical mores of the new decade. released in october 1980, it features two of his most loved instrumentals, qe2 and taurus i, as well as cover versions of wonderful land by the shadows and, surprisingly perhaps for the time, arrival by abba.
mike oldfields fifth album was partially recorded at electric lady studios in new york city, and the title suite especially nods to the bustle of the city at the time. impeccably arranged and produced, the album was released in november 1979. it was oldfields first album that included shorter songs, including a beautiful version of george gershwins i got rhythm, and a new arrangement of north star by philip glass.
you may know pnau from their breakthrough side-project >empire of the sun<, elton john signed the pair after listening to their record, and now with his blessing, a selection of eltons old masters has been re-imagined into an album featuring their recreations of his classic hits between 1970 and 1976.
elton himself is a huge fan of pnaus work and gave his blessing as well as access to his original works from that era to allow them to create this revolutionary new collection of compositions.
the lp is presented in a single gatefold sleeve and includes a limited edition exclusive 12x12 inch artwork print. you will also receive a code for a free mp3 version of the album.
welcome reissue of this super-rare 1978 disco classic from greek singing superstar demis roussos. the extended mix of l.o.v.e. got a hold of me featured on this highly-collectable canadian 12 inch pressing from mercury was a massive favourite of david mancusos at his legendary loft parties and understandably so. a tight percussive groove topped with beautiful swirling strings and the big mans soaring sexy vocals, this special long version provides ten minutes of blissful dubbed-out disco heaven which still rocks dancefloors today for any dj lucky enough to have a copy. the flip is also rather good, with i just live, a very useful funky workout with another positive message that includes some fantastic percussion and great harmonica action. top class!
nice price deal !!! along with the tracks from the ep all of the >in arms< remixes have been getting great coverage amongst the blogs and online editorial sites including placements on nme, guardian, gigwise, ilikemusic, virgin, spinner & rcrdlabel. currently supporting chapel club on their tour.
big, bold, and dramatic. intimate, tender and touching. >a curious thing< is amy macdonald, full-voiced and rebooted and re-energised, with added hammering piano and a couple of guest spots from paul weller.
