we welcome smooth criminals admnti and t. jacques back to the dansu discs family with their split platform alteration ep. both sides providing heavy basslines with added groove. if youre not already ready to return to the dance-floor, then this one will give you that much needed assist.

>another psychedelic afternoon< lunges in with minimalistic percussion, acidic bass lines and radio voices. the progression of the track keeps one moving while the fluctuation in the velocity and warmth of the sound keeps the explorative side of the acoustics and rhythm flowing. >performer< switches the mood into a darker tone with rolling waves of industrial synths creating a contrasting groove between high speed lighter synths and heavier drum and bass rolls before the second part of the track reshapes the track into more minimalistic and aggressive dance floor weapon.

2021 repress - huge, the full unreleased version of the o.g bboy classic brazilian rhyme straight out the sony tape vaults ( i made that sound easier than it was). not just one for hip-hop heads, the appreciation of this groove is pretty much universal. the track is an uncredited cover of toninho horta s -beijo partido- most likely directly influenced by milton nascimentos version from the lp minas which is a great cheap lp while we are on that. on the flip for the first time on 45 (until someone tells me there is some random german or thai pressing) is one of my old modern spins, best 45 of the year and its only march.

iperborea (in english hyperborea) is a legendary land, home of the also mythical people of the hyperboreans. in the myths of greek religion, the hyperboreans were a people who lived in a distant land to the north of greece. this region was a perfect country, illuminated by the shining sun for six months of the year. the ep opens with the track -nuda veritas-, characterized by sound textures that recall an aquatic and evanescent environment, giving the track a charge of mystery and the unknown. then the journey goes to -iperborea-, which gives the album its title, there are strong references to the power of the sun and the mythical people of the hyperboreans. the first is given by the constant presence of a modulated niose that simulates the solar wind, that is a flow of particles emitted by the sun. on the other hand, the reference to the mythical people is made through a pressing and epic groove, and by the contrast of these two elements with a pad/stab synth that transits in the middle of the track. the latter outlines a dreamlike and suspended atmosphere that praises this distant and legendary land that was iperborea (hyperborea). among with these original tracks, the ep also containes remixes by scope and laertes. laertes’ rexmis is focused on soft and gentle mysterious mood while scope’s one is more focused on mysterious but powerful which makes audience imagine somewhat aspects of a destructive god. together they are making a perfect pair match for this ep>

the 10th release on blkmarket music features payphone, with unicorn system. from the founders of toronto s payphone studios and members of the hypnotic mindscapes crew and record label, the payphone trio make their label debut with 4 hardware-heavy tracks. this elusive 3-member live-act take a functional yet improvisational approach, influenced by years of chasing the wonk during late-night jam sessions. kicking-off the ep is the retro futurism of don e = dark o - a melancholic, chiaroscuro-esque house-meets-techno track harking back to a bygone era of rave. the a2 fool circle shifts gears into the afterhours with an infectious, metallic groove. on the flip, aquatic-deep techno cut sea sex librarian dubs things out with trippy vocals and a booming round baseline. rounding out the ep, get outta 84 conjures cinematic dystopia with deep electro-infused breaks.

as modularz approaches it s 50th release - label owner developer decided to feature a 4 track sampler taken from the new lp by chicago s zachary lubin named -omronicon- this is modularz 49 to be exact and features a wealth of groove based bangers all carrying the same aesthetic and theme through the recordings. it s hard to pin point if this is a hard or deep release so let s say it s entirely both and with good reason - it s also very synth heavy and gains ongoing momentum the more you listen. it s very obvious that modularz puts out excellent techno and this is by far no exception. tip

revelation ep is the debut release of australian record label denude, showcasing the latest work of melbourne based artist eddie hale. the title track revelation is both driving and warm - layered percussion lines rise and fall amongst detroit inspired stabs and subtly textured elements creating an infectious and uplifting groove. a2’s surging is both tunnelling and driving - straight into late night / early hours territory - with swirling sounds forming a hypnotizing sonic bath for the body and mind. rounding up the a side with a change of pace, aperture’s syncopated percussion leads us on a peaceful detour through ethereal synthscapes as we follow the round journey of an evolving sound that travels full circle. on the flip, joel mull’s hypno mix of revelations propels the listener with mechanical precision through dizzyingly expansive atmospheres of truly mind melting proportions. closing out the ep is terrace of an elephant, tranquil and reflective synth-work juxtaposed with coloured stabs striking through like comets across the night sky - brings us back down to earth in a contemplative mood.

the third entry into our catalogue is provided by our very dear traumer. the frenchman has proven himself a true force in the electronic music community, seamlessly weaving his distinct sonic designs into memorable, ageless rhythms. his latest offering follows a prolific run of singleminded records, each one further developing on the minimal house theme he is laid out for himself. this ep features a condensation of those findings. starting things off with >diplo<, a lean groove working the very long hours, we are introduced to a fresh set of tracks balancing the serviceable with the elusive. with its loose arrangement of organic sounds and a hazy feel, >douce< is tripped house mix makes good on its promise. find the deeper rotations on the flipside, where >prima< and «plastica» both explore the heady mindset to their fullest. nerve tingling goodness for intimate listening experiences.
