omena celebrates its 20th release by inviting lance gurisik, the artist most commonly known as lancelot. there are no fillers here, transport consists of two tracks, both showcasing an impeccable sense of melodies and rhythm. a solid label favourite that s been tried and tested to rapturous dancefloor response

although not a band in a traditional sense of the word, this record was created by a rotating ensemble of players: for a brief moment, musicians from different backgrounds (in this iteration: preslav, kenny peagler, waajeed, joe defazio and phil boyd) became a band and then went their separate ways. rhodes, funk basslines, neo-soul chords and tight drum programming are the lingua franca of the 24 hour band. the title of each song represents the time of day that inspired it and collectively, they point to the goal to create records that can be enjoyed not just in a club, but throughout the day, at home, or in your car. this is the 24hr band.

omena launches the x series. as the name suggests, this is the first of ten limited releases planned. first out is swedish producer anders hellberg with fiction. this is the sound of having a party inside a whale with a broken rainbow and three pyramids as bass bins. not too harsh or in-your-face, rather clean, crisp, and audible. two remixes courtesy of bleak (delsin/drh/naura). 200 copies only

born out of a love for disco records and odd electronics, casino times is the project of producers joseph spencer and nicholas church - a musical partnership that is rooted in house and techno but often treads into the weird and wonderful. since first starting the project in 2010 spencer and church have steadily been crafting a back catalog that reflects their varied tastes and unique approach to electronic music. this has seen them release on a wealth of respected labels such as wolf music, futureboogie recordings & permanent vacation, just to name a few. the debut on omena, decoded ep , consists of four tracks highlighting a distinct development of their musical style. no need to dissect each and every track here to explain how it sounds, just play it and enjoy. everyone from your grandparents to your neighbour and best friend will ask for track ids.

with the musical institution that the guitar constitutes, golden retriever sets out to change its paradigm with very simple means, creating a void between genres and ideas to be in, grinning in its essence yet at times grounded with serious introspective ingredients. with only an iphone as a recording studio, golden retriever has created the ep in a very minimalistic sense, not only when it comes to sheer production elements but also through that instruments chosen to use. having a background in various other scenes, you could say it s a consequence of leftover creativity and exploratory passion that didn t fit in anywhere else at the moment. the sonic palette is naive, luscious and surprisingly thick and sturdy considering the limitations of both instruments and recording equipment used. with unassailable melodies that are equally captivating as ravishing, it seduces you with the same drifter romantics and beautiful scenery as you would find in any classic country song without following the same structure. whenever a string of the guitar is plucked, struck or touched, it invokes feelings of both adventurous joy, but sometimes also the sadness of leaving something behind.

better known as kemback, geoff wright is a bristol based producer, selector, composer, violinist, teacher, and waiter whose music is rooted in house and techno but often treads into the weird and wonderful worlds of jazz, soul, folk, and blues. while his gritty drums and shuffling grooves bear the hallmark of the city he now calls home, the melodic sensibility of his emotive strings and distant glimmering synths harks back to the tree-lined footpaths of the tiny scottish village from which he takes his name. his debut release in 2014, on bristol mainstay futureboogie, received widespread support from djs as diverse as skream, mosca, and nemone. more recently his effort as part of alfresco disco s acclaimed maximum joy series, titled awaken , has been likened to the music of artists including floating points and leon vynehall. good night & for you today, the two tracks on kemback s omena debut, showcase a high level of production skill. to complete the package the always excellent auntie flo (aka brian d souza) & omena label boss tooli take turns in remixing good night.

release no.4 on omena ltd is a special one. after delivering a whole jar of tasty tracks for sleazy beats recordings, boogie cafe and banoffee pies in 2015, bristol s admin a.k.a adam wickens waved the magic wand over his sample library and put together three new ones. spirit boogie you say? yes, it s a beautiful thing.

when i was 10 years old my father took me to a flea market in a very small city up north in sweden, pitea. there was a little bit of everything being sold there: ski equipment, comics, porcelain figurines and vinyl. it was there and then i came across autobahn by kraftwerk. the thing is, we didn t have a turntable at the house we stayed in, on those cold winter weeks so i had to wait until we came back home to give the record a proper spin. in my mind i played it several times and i thought it was amazing. i imagined it was music from the future. what i thought when i heard it for real? didn t like it at all. the very same feeling i imagined autobahn would sound like is the one i get after listening to ishi vu s debut on omena. these five tracks, you could call it an album if you like, are playful, quirky, dreamy and very addictive. like finding a new friend you know you want to keep for a very long time.

we have reached the end. this is as far as the story tells the final recording by the artist(s) that kickstarted the omena ltd series with the mini-album 1 early 2015.

after seducing people around the world with the future classic into the sun on local talks oneoffs label and footwork anthems on don t believe released on studio barnhus it s now time to present daybreak or as tooli described the track the first time he heard it -it s like listening to deep burnt part 2-. perhaps it was the jetlag (tooli arrived in nyc the very same day henry sent it) or the fact that it s a straight forward deep track with lush strings and no fuzz included. it s up to you to decide. for remix duties label boss tooli was brave enough to have a go himself and recorded some piano chords and strings. on the flip is where the real magic happens - parkway records head honcho mark seven, considered by many as a dj s dj and mighty fine producer, delivers a remix that takes you on a journey and a half. it s deep, got tons of percussions and lures you into afro territory. if body and soul was still around this one would peak on a sunday afternoon.

its time to welcome another member to the family. let s all give a round of applause for naphta. with stellar releases on studio barnhus (palm trees love ep) & transatlantyk (solar empire ep) and getting rep from such fine djs and producers as jimpster, eddie c, justin van der volgen, soft rocks, zambon, mudd (claremont 56) and jacques renault - we simply had to sign this wonderful artist, dj and rbma graduate to omena. the debut release, baltic rim, will be out at the end of april and contains two tracks, kaiju stomp & striker eureka. remixes by polish super stars the phantom & jaromir aka ptaki and omena label boss tooli. if you ever wanted a record that combines exotic rhythms with your favourite sunset chords, dervish basslines and snake charming melodies then this release is for you. as always, the very talented ivo kiusalaas has provided the label art

its been a year since the first release on omena was out. a year of many adventures, sun filled mornings, hazy afternoons and silent nights. to mark the occasion of our one year anniversary we ve invited hnny back for a second release on the label. there s no need to describe what s on this record. we know you re going to like it
