the sixth release of the catalan label bons records comes signed by another kind of unknown (great) artist. we are talking about embezzlement society, a young producer from belfast influenced by producers like fast eddie, as well as pal joey or theo parrish. in the label of pau roca and gon he presents three cuts that go from the cheekiest hip-house (haters gon hate) to a classic raw-house vibe with a clear detroit flavour (mr. jons & stronger). furthermore, one of his mentor nowadays, the french artist fulbert (local talk, foul & sunk, rawthencity) remixes stronger and turns it into an exquisite techno-reinterpretation. vinyl only - 12” release! the benefits of the release will entirely be destinated to the syria refugees

embezzlement society takes us back to the early days of 80s hip-hop with his ‘rough quarters ep. on his record the man from belfast heavily relies on funk-based drum loops as were popular in the glorious days of old school hip-hop. the results are two super casual tracks with a cool hip-house attitude just perfect for hip-house lover drei farben house who took the chance to contribute a remix in his slick and smooth style, merging the raw drums with some tender rhodes. tenderpark regular roman rauch finishes off the ep and slows down the tempo in his remix concentrating on the originals of the samples and displaying his mastery with the mpc once more. as always all tracks have been mastered and cut by helmut erler at dubplates & mastering.

rfbcolours 004 is aimed at the dark, jazzy smokey affairs. from the off u can see the imspiration fro the ep title with the a1 track from sombro and embezzlement society capturing a low end, horn sampled groover with rough claps and an undeniable groove. georgi barrel delivers again with something that will warm up the coldest clubs or capyure you on sunset terraces. long island sound hit the pianos hard on the slower paced but equally as grabbing and tense -grit-. label owner jamie trench rounds off with night lanterns which is a track thats been waiting for a space on wax for a good few years now and fits beautifully with the rest of the ep.
