following hivers excellent ep, let recordings again welcomes american dj and producer jon hester to their imprint. currently based in berlin but with previous spells in chicago and minneapolis, he returns to the label for a second ep following 2017s communication ep, and other outings on the likes of rekids and dystopian. his adventurous drum programming and high speed techno style kicks things off with radiance, a manically melodic track that takes you on an energetic trip. impermanence is a deeper, more cinematic piece that features rueful pads but still a driving drum line, then stratospheric has huge, hammering kick drums and squelchy synth sounds as well as dancing keys that bring warmth, groove, and soul. last of all, this high class excursion is completed with horizon, delivering barreling drum patterns and edgy pads that trap you in suspense as it races on. all four tracks deliver a high impact techno sound that very much looks to the future.

children of tomorrow will celebrate soon its 10 years anniversary. the label was created by emmanuel ternois back in the day and being joined by arnaud le texier in 2011. since then they focused on techno producing amazing artists, to name few: terrence dixon, zadig, tensal, antigone, oscar mulero, jonas kopp, samuli kemppi etc... children of tomorrow is now presenting the first album from arnaud le texier. after almost 30 years dj-ing around the world and almost 20 years producing. signing many releases over the years and always busy delivering dance floor releases, it s been a long wait to finally get an album from arnaudon his first album we can feel that he wanted to tell a story and to express something deeper with his production experience. there is a different variety of techno that stretches from ambient / broken beat / hypnotic / raw techno along with subtles grooves, wondrous atmospheres & sonic textures. on a side the album opens with dusk, an ambient atmospheric mid-tempo track with sonic sounds that is a perfect intro.pattern 2 starts with drones and blip sounds and a broken beat groove follows with a pad that sounds like a voice coming from the space. the track ends with some modular click sounds that make the whole track clever. followed by the album title granular therapy, a deep techno track with modular bass line and melancholic pad. a perfect track to play in after or to warm up a party.the b side is more dedicated to the dance floor with black nympheas that is a proper dark modern techno with a grinding bass line and magic drones. a simple beat makes the track evolve in a nice way. blade pass frequency is 4/4 effective techno with a 909 kick, a syncope acid bass line and a pad that sends you to another dimension. it is a powerful track but with a sense of deepness and sensibility that arnaud can achieve sometimes. this side closes with binary sun dawn which is an ambient track with melody that has a jazz feeling mixed with dark atmospheres, sonic drones and water drops. the c side opens with mono driver, a minimal track with a little synth that stays until the end repetitively until it makes you travel and lose your mind. deep and dance floor at the same time.

part 4 of 5 to be released over the coming couple of months. originally released on the phono label in 1995/96 the parts series from matthew herbert are a much loved collection of house tracks that sound just as original and bold today as they did when they were first released. this series of 12-s were part of an early wave of exploratory dance music that paved the way for the deep house that still works its magic on dance-floors in 2018 some 25 years later. the mix of herbert s playfulness alongside expertly grooving production and unusual sounds makes this unique collection of work. the odd few tracks aside this is the first time that these releases have ever been repressed. all newly remastered for this reissue series, the releases include stone cold club classics such as deeper , take me back , resident , people that make the music and see you on monday .

bondage music label-founders pornbugs return to the imprint this september with their ‘pacho’ ep, backed with remixes from pablo bolivar and phillipp gonzales. leipzig/berlin based duo pornbugs make a welcome return to their own label here with two new original cuts, ‘pacho’ opens the package with stripped-back drums, a bulbous bass line and choppy piano chords running alongside a bubbling arpeggio lead and tension building stab sequences. pablo bolivar’s rawmake of pacho follows, edging things into deeper territory with dropped tempo dusty drums, airy pads and an amalgamation of wandering, resonant synth lines. the second half of the release, pencilled for release as vinyl only features another original from pornbugs, entitled ’larica’ and featuring a similar aesthetic to the lead with fluttering dubby chords, a refined drum groove and unfolding atmospherics carrying the groove before label regular phillipp gonzales turns in his remix to complete the package, taking things in a more raw direction with heavily swung crunchy drums, pulsating filtered stabs and billowing vocal murmurs.

spice 1 is an undisputed west coast legend, who first hit the scene after the n.w.a. and closer to home too $hort explosion of the late 80s. as history showed, he continued that bloodline with finesse and authority. his nasal flow is menacing and strong, and fans have been consistently captivated by his hood tales since his self-titled debut in 1992. if you want thematic range with your mcs, spice isn’t that dude he is all about crime tales and the perils of ghetto life. and he attacks that storytelling sweet spot with each new cut. spice 1 boasted four singles by the time it was all said and done, and breezed to gold status on the strength of cuts like the catchy east bay gangster, the heartfelt tales and truths of welcome to the ghetto, and the thick, grooving in my neighborhood. he even produced the alcohol-themed 187 proof, another of the albums singles, and the hands-down cleverest vocal outing on the lp. sonically, the backdrops on spice 1 range from plunky, keyboard-bassline funk to deeper, fuzzy 70s samples and he sounds strong on top of both. break yourself is fueled with an electro-funk drive, 1-800 spice brings reggae flavor, and peace to my nine gets chunkier, with a well-placed p-funk one nation under a groove sample. presented here on official retail vinyl for the first time since its initial release 26 years ago, spice 1s debut holds the test of time and carries the california gangsta flag with pride. some colors just don’t fade.

one of our most mysterious and intriguing states of consciousness is the dream. we lose consciousness when we enter the deep waters of sleep, only to regain it as we emerge into a series of uncanny private realities. through the fog of the mind we can get a glimpse of a world beyond our day to day realities that sometimes is able to show us deeper truths than those we face in awake states. roger is one of those lucid pioneers that is able to translate these experiences into sound. let him guide you through these wondrous clouds. were very happy to welcome dutch-born german-raised roger van lunteren on sohaso for the first time. his rosa dos ventos ep is a four-track story that oozes retro vibes and nostalgia for a past that never seems to have existed. utilizing raw 80’s analog synths and humanoid acid lines he sets atmospheres that remind of lynchian dreamscapes. vanish starts out with an emotional chord sequence, as you enter the fluid world of the subconscious. a gnarly bassline welcomes your arrival and lets you know things here aren’t exactly what they seem. journeying on through seemingly dark areas, it ends with a hopeful melody and the bass softens as you start feeling weightless. uncontacted uses choral pads and two intertwining 303 sequences as a way of communicating between the different dimensions. aroy dee remixing vanish is like taking a psychotropic liquid, adding more drive to the original while retaining the emotive synth patterns. sleepless is rogers hardest cut on the record, again providing directly plugged in 303 goodness and stomping beats. it rounds off a balanced ep with plenty of introspective dance material.

ghost in the machine return to perc trax to follow up their break out one louder ep that came out on the label last summer. since then they ve been focusing on their own genosha basic label, touring to great acclaim around europe and remixing perc & truss’ “leather & lace”, turning an already large track into a peak-time festival munching bomb. across the four tracks on their king dead they widen their sound, floating synth arpeggios over their trademark rock solid kicks and adding a deeper level of ambience that lurks with intent underneath their driving percussive sound.

it is a pleasure to work with david granha and to present his 2nd release on noir music. not only is he a super talented producer but he is also open to taking his tracks a step further and in the process evolve as an artist and producer. i have been playing these 3 tracks a lot in my sets around the globe and almost each week discussed change of details with david. it makes me proud to have this “savala” release on noir music cause you can hear from the title track “savala” is an extension of his previous release on the label and with “balea” and “mortal sins” he moves his sound-design to new ventures and a more minimal, raw approach to the final outcome. exactly what i wanted from david. exactly what i hoped for and well…… even better. these 3 tracks just sounds amazing and they have been crafted perfectly step by step over a long period of time. a lot of passion, energy and love have been put into this release. on top of that the titles of the tracks also have sentimental value to david, so there is also a deeper meaning with this release. give them a spin and experience how powerful these tunes are.

this is the first brand new hyper-on experience ep to be released in decades, and it is simply amazing. the legendary artist behind massive underground anthems such as “lord of the null lines” and “monarch of the glen” return with a superb 3 track ep and its like they have never been away. all three tracks retain that unique blend of quirky humor and style with serious production and technical skill. lift me up is a full on piano and live vocal work out, while cannon rush stands out as the most…hyper-on-ish of the tracks? with its choir intro and cleverly manipulated vocals, is is both original and authentic. meanwhile, vibrations rounds out the ep and stpes a little further back in time, being slightly slower and deeper. this whole ep is a classic waiting to happen.

label head steven rutter joins forces with john shima (fs005) on this bright ep with its direction turned towards the light. the heavenly ‘skywards’ leads the way upwards with tenderly treated spacious drum programming and light-as-air atmospherics while darker and deeper cavernous tones create the yin-yang balance of lightness and dark. ‘broken spell’ continues the uplifted vibe of a spell that when broken, blooms open with an intoxicating permeating sweetness like an exotic fragrance that lingers in one’s memory. ‘a new day’ leans slightly more towards a heavier driven track featuring a funky bassline with bright electronic notations as counterpoint while drifting, dreamy pads keep the overall mood airy and light. the off-kilter knob is turned way right on the bouncy final track ’disjointed route’, injecting dashes of wry quirk alongside a lightly moving groove.

fresh from london, fulham young blood joe corti starts a new london imprint, china white. the first entry to the catalog is a four track ep coming from himself: reprising the filtered disco house vibes that caught ears on his past releases on the a-side, and ditching the samples to flex a darker, deeper side on the b. the label will be a solid home for productions from joe and like-minded fellow friends.

nathan micay (formerly bwana) steps out under his own name for the first time with a pair of glistening panoramas well-primed for those exultant hours of the early morning. the 12inch opens with first casualty, aka that track played by avalon in her printworks set last year, before heading into deeper territories with beginning ballads on the flip. in nathans words: these are without a doubt the most personal tracks i have written to date. i made them as a sort of exercise in self-therapy during my first few months in berlin. as time has gone on, more meanings have unfolded with each listen. for me, these tracks are a rebuttal to the endless churn of negativity in the news and online. they have become my battle cry in the club, something to mobilize while also offering a chance to escape it all, even briefly.

for those that knoe delves deeper into the archives once more to repackage a bundle of hard to find cuts on vinyl that have been staple supplies in ben s record bag over the years. the early to mid 2000s was a period of minimal techno overload, finding quality house music then was a challenge compared to today. rather than follow the herd, some european producers took influence from the original minimal pioneers and fused those approaches with house music themes in order to push a unique sound of the era. they turned minimal on its head and gave took it in a different direction. canson from switzerland released a handful of records between 2002 and 2005 that were a prime example of this aesthetic. stripped back beats with syncopated melodies - perfect cuts for those early sets or hazy morning sessions. the three tracks featured on this compilation were originally released on two solo eps for canson: itsudemo and holiday plug in, both of which have claimed squatter s rights in my record bag for almost 15 years. i don t think i ve played one early slot or house set without one of them. this record is quite a personal one for me as it s a representation of my deeper sound as a dj. now the original records are a little hard to find so im so glad to share my choice picks of cansons material on a my label.

gaetano battista has been popping up intermittently for some time now, most notably under his own name on boe recordings back in 2013. now he s adopted the name mental vibe construction for this turn on chez damier s courtesy of balance, bringing his most forthright dancefloor cuts to date. guru is a muscular, punchy slice of house music executed with a midwestern toughness and lashing of synthetic soul. lifestyle is equally enchanting in its melodic qualities without skimping on the rhythm section, while lee theory takes things deeper and funkier. chi soul touches on uplifting techno tones in its illustrious synth patterns, but it s still got a house heartbeat pumping away at the centre.

its a captivating encounter when a producer of relative anonymity bursts onto the scene with an exciting and engaging release, that you re drawn back to again and again, wondering how you ve never heard of them before. porto producer pedro, & washington dc vocalist jenna camille have achieved exactly that with this first release on the mighty wolf music recordings. the influences from jazz though to soul, rnb & broken beat are weaved deep within this record. you re drawn in from the off with an intro of stripped back pianos behind an emotional spoken word monologue from jenna, before it opens up into a beatsy, rnb infused groove. having pulled you in float hits you with a richness of synth textures, layers of broken beats and dreamy chords alongside jennas float mantra hypnotising you deeper and deeper. reaching the last section of the track though you re woken from that hypnotic groove with a switch to a raw and energetic breakbeat sure to get any crowd moving. keep it h 2000 , the final track on the a side, has a real flavour of fatima to it emanating from jenna s blissful vocals - laid over the top of sustained rhodes, weighty synth lines and dynamic drums. flip it over and there s a tougher intensity to future dance (it ll be ok) , coupling rhythmic stabs with jazzy chord progressions, laced behind a groove that wouldn t be out of place lighting up the floor at a co-op night. to close out the e.p. you re given a sensory overload through jenna s staggered, overlaid vocals panned to come at you from every angle its the perfect outro to both stun you and leave you wanting more. and if this extremely well-polished, first key release is a sign of things to come, pedros name will be becoming a lot more familiar in years to come. support from afronaught (bugz in the attic), bradley zero, henry wu, lefto, atjazz & osunlade

emergent russian producer legit trip is the next up on jack s house, serving up four slices of sleek, crisply produced tech house to work across a variety of scenarios. -answer- keeps things simple and effective, letting the bassline take the weight of the track and keeping the beat locked on course for maximum dancefloor efficiency. -organic- has a lighter, more rolling feel to it that nods to the outdoor, day time terrace crew, while -what- has a deeper bump that yearns for dimly lit basement vibes. -you got me- has an easy going house flavour to it that should slot nicely into the warm-up, but don t be fooled - there s plenty of weight in that low end to do the damage at any time of night.

when it comes to deep and soulful inspired house grooves with a touch of sweat and grit we like so much, few comes close to soulphiction. this four track ep got that and more. ear-grabbing opening track bizzness starts things off in classic soulphiction mode with its deliciously bass-heavy funk stomp. cart people is a fine slice of deep house going deeper and deeper as the groove develops. the first track on the flip, slow glow , brings warm vibes and great melodies together in a clever way. finally sweet dreams is another fine example of house music that is deep, full of soul and comfortingly loose, mr fingers style but done the soulphiction way.

naura records is proud to be back to present another strong release this time some lost archive material that goes back to the very beginning of his productions. bleak delivers 3 cuts of his custom recipe but somehow adds new unexpected flavours throughout this ep even though staying on his formal path. starting with the a side, dust (mix1) takes off with an introspective journey with detroit and classic techno. a real head turner with a classy ride and functional feeling dust (mix2) more for the deeper realm, accompanied with enchanted melodies as a twist. finally on the flip, element samples the heartbeat of a even deeper state, where one is allowed to lose yourself. get a hold of something solid, for this is a tune that communicates a lot of subtle changes and honesty.

the first in a series of compilations by jura soundsystem is a blend of dub, ambient, downtempo, boogie and proto house with a focus on music never before released on vinyl, sought after out of print titles and some special versions edited specifically for the album. . the intention with this project was to delve deeper into the reissue pond and unearth some lesser known tracks and artists. highlights include smackos (aka legowelt) ambient epic ‘we can watch alf in the hotel room’, never before released on vinyl, the dub / psych hybrid of minus group’s ‘black shadow’, kash’s sought after ‘percussion sundance’ and special edits of ken dang and tabou combo. the end of the album includes some soothing ambient tools.

following a standout appearance on dvs1’s mistress label with his “just pain” track, the man from minneapolis, doubt, returns to don’t be afraid for the first time since 2014’s “poor dog” ep. in the interim he has continued to record on disposable commodities under the doubt moniker, whilst also exploring experimental and ambient sound under the name time heals nothing.
for his most inclusive outing to date, doubt mines the outer limits of minimal house music whilst still maintaining the vibe of alienation and melancholy that characterises his work. the mood of “april” is euphoric and carefree but dig deeper and the fragile beauty also suggests an impending and ominous apocalypse. “what is happening” and “samusex” counterbalance the a-side’s brief suggestion of joy with a mood closer to doubt’s previous work. the title track meanwhile recalls the work of labels like ifach and trelik with a swinging, stripped down dub sound.

coming back for another round after his first ep for figure last summer, shlomi aber continues to explore different avenues of his multi-faceted sound, tying it all up in a nicely rounded package. setting the pace is driving opening track whistler, the producer showcasing his ability to craft something big but undoubtedly refined. he then lets old school drums cruise along gentle sways of washed out ambience, giving the deep heads something to really get into… back with more techno on the b-side, this time in true figure-style: lean, sharp, and utterly effective penetrate the system is sure to leave its mark and comes complete with an extended, separate intro, making for quite an experience. staying atmospheric to the end, aber chooses to step out in half-time, taking cues from dubstep as hollowed kicks carve out an endless tunnel that leads only ever deeper down the rabbit hole.

echocord’s colour sub-label returns early june with a four- track ep from eindhoven’s albert van abbe in the shape of ‘klangbilder’. dutch techno artist albert van abbe has nearly two decades of experience under his belt in various forms of musical and visual expression, releasing on his own vanabbe imprint, figure jams, semantica and no comment, as well as playing live and djing at hot spots across the globe such as berghain, tresor, dgtl and awakenings festival. ‘klangbilder 1’ leads with a robust rhythmic drive, employing bumpy toms, shuffled hats and lumpy kicks at its core as vacillating synths, tension building drones and menacing pizzicato strings develop throughout. ‘klangbilder 2’ takes things deeper next, retaining the dusty drums sound of the previous cut whilst stirring in airy ethereal pads and choppy, resonant stab sequences. ‘klangbilder 3’ kicks off the b-side with modulating synth whirrs, emotive organ tones and a muted drum tones throughout before ‘klangbilder 4’ closes the package, taking things beatless and cinematic via emotive synth leads, droning subs and expansive echoes.

the second outing from lisbon based percebes mu&#769,,sica comes from ka§par, a respected portuguese author who consistently releases on many revered deeper dance music imprints. the “epicurismo” ep is a fresh and well humored record, conceived as an homage to the greek philosopher epicurus, who widely professed a personal mantra for happiness.
