ein album, das zwischen zwei staedten entstanden ist. zwischen hamburg und berlin. also ein intercity album. aber was liegt zwischen den staedten? wald und wiese. die musik des albums ist gepraegt durch wald und wiese, durch viele jahre festival mit ferienkommunismus, unzaehligen open airs und vielen clubs, in denen vornehmlich aus holz gebaut wird. bass ist holz und holz waechst im wald und die musik ist auf bass gebaut, also ist das album eigentlich ein haus, solide und warm. hae... na egal, naja und dann kommt noch einer der besten basslaeufe der musik-geschichte aus einem wald mit kurhaus von weltruf, da schliesst sich dann der kreis. das debuetalbum >a forest< von soukie & windish ist das extrakt eines eigenen stils, den die beiden ueber die letzten 6 jahre und mehr als 30 veroeffentlichungen entwickelt haben. es ist deep, aber kein deep house, es ist trancig aber kein trance, es ist langsam aber kein downbeat. zeit für neologismen, slow trance, rolling house, down techno... whatever, you name it. auf jeden fall ist es musik, die immer funktioniert, auf den ohren, auf der tanzflaeche und danach, buten und binnen (draussen und drinnen). es gibt kein konzept, es ist einfach eine vorstellung davon, dass musik eingaengig sein muss ohne mainstream zu sein, musik die auffaellt ohne zu nerven. musik mit mut zum kitsch, die nie schmierig wird aber doch im ohr kleben bleibt.

a dj since 93. a producer since 98. a true student of the music/culture. amir founded vanguard sound in february 2006. after making his presence felt in the chicago club scene via a meteoric rise culminating a dj watch feature in chicagos 5 magazine, he completely disappeared and went beneath the underground to focus solely on advancing his production skills. soon after linking up with g. marcell and hakim murphy he began to release gritty tracks that have been charted and played by underground djs world wide. his fourth release was the sleeper classic >experience ep< a 4 tracker with amir on side a, and g. marcell on side b. encouraged by the feedback, amir then submitted tracks to new york citys plan b recordings. the rest is history as they say. recording under the name amir alexander and the pseudonym guerrilla soul! this cat strives to bring a raw and gritty modern spin on classic detroit, chicago, and new york underground sounds.

little is known about the norwegian bunny & bear duo known simply as the glue. their last appearance with us came courtesy of kolour ltd and we knew right then that these boys were in-store for their own ep with us and we are pleased to announce that it has finally come to fruition.

alden tyrell hooked up with mike dunn for some new work!. a golden combination which already worked out great as we learned from the heavy remix tyrell did for the murphy jax & mike dunn collaboration (its the music - cat# cjfd06). tyrell always jamming and playing around with his synths had some tracks inspired by early mike dunn songs. so the obvious happened ... the hooked up for some appropiate vocals and here it is ... touch the sky! a peak time acid monster with mikes vocal chant in the style of his classic md3 projects. gerd is on remix duty here and delivers a killer remix with a more traditional chicago groove and build up. clone head honcho serge had some studio time with tyrell for a dub mix. the serge & tyrell dub mix turned out a bit wild and became a classic piece of piano and dx bass driven chicago house music with stuttering vocal samples and a acidic synth line. another strong clone jack for daze!

sleep ds bacon ep is the next offering from sydneys excellent death strobe imprint. sleep d are a couple of young cats from melbourne, the production duo are sure to be an integral part of the deep house explosion coming from their city, spearheaded by the likes of tornado wallace, fantastic man and the melbourne deepcast crew. the record has a range of flavours all tied together by a fundamental warmth and soulfulness. the title track flows and floats in a dreamlike state, whilst simultaneously nailing the groove from beat one. bubbles vs the cat takes it up a notch, entering the club realm with rich bass and tight rhythms. their remix of chet fakers love & feeling is certain to give any dance floor a collective orgasm, oozing an erotic strangeness as it heaves and thrusts away, while ischa has a tickle of techno thrown into the mix and, despite its druggy sedation, has a hidden energy for dancing feet. one limited pressing.
