berlin based arttu has been dropping his dusty fat beats across numerous techno labels including philpot, clone and 4lux for a few years but it was 2016’s track ‘hoodies’ on arttu’s own imprint cyblo that caught the attention of accidental label boss matthew herbert (and which remains firmly in herbert’s record bag). arttu was invited onto the accidental jnr roster and has delivered a chunk of techno with so much swing it made donkey kong blush. arttu takes the most simple of jazz bass hooks and loops across a rigid kick, it’s when those hats kick in that the groove goes fucking wild. the presence of us native roberto q ingram on vocals brings a full detroit gangster flavour to the party. initially arttu and roberto had an idea to record a simple and sweaty track with roberto on the mic and arttu at the control of some dusty old machines. the result, ‘bass trakk’ is exactly that: roberto dropping lyrics over a raw beat and a massive bassline. the ep is rounded off with a deep bit of techno ‘debris’ with all the trappings of the darkest hour of a berlin winter in which it was recorded.

NO ADJUSTMENTS FEAT. FOREMOST POETS (A.NIGGEMANN, ARTTU RMXS)
12" Vinyl D19.02.13
steve bug returns with a brilliant set of killer reworks from his much-lauded noir album. no adjustments features the vocal talents of foremost poets, and remains one of the standout moments on the label boss enigmatic long player. where noir explored the themes of light and shade, it was always clear that no adjustments was one of the more straight up dance floor moments on there, and as such this release is definitely going to be thankfully received by djs.
arttu is back on royal oak after his critically acclaimed nuclear funk / get up of it release late 2011. another split single featuring two detroit jazz and funk vocalists. the female poet diamondancer on tune in and the his buddy from jerry the cat on move! arttu smoothly blends his roots in the best house traditions with contemporary influences on these two tracks. recommended!!
arttu returns on 4lux and he returns on form with two new cuts. summin bout drums is a dirty and sleazy house affair. the finnish producer now residing in berlin comes with two fat versions of his own while basic soul unit provides for a frantic remix with a crazy acid vibe. set you free is a bumping track with hard hitting drums cut up vocals and harsh synth elements. time to jack!
a made up sound aka 2562 and dexter deliver two remixes for arttu featuring jerry the cat. nuclear funk and get up off it get transformed from raw chicago influenced cuts into darker electro/techno hybrids by these two dutch techno wizzards. both known for their sharp productions that cross over between techno, electro and bass music they have a fresh take on the original versions. by the choice of remixers we didnt expect the standard house remixes, something more challenging would fit the spirit of the originals. this remix 12 inch might be is somewhat of a dark horse in the house orientated clone royal oak catalogue, but expectations are to there be messed up.
something of a new-wave house dream team, berlins dj kaos and a mysterious member of the chi-town crew rock up on hamburgs liebedetail spezial imprint with a majestic and uplifting house future-anthem. theyve teamed up with ange da costa to create a soaring, hands in the air peak time moment, underpinned by tight analog beats and full of smooth, warm pianos and heartbreaking strings. gliding through the urgent arrangement are da costa’s dulcet vocals urging you to discover your true self.surely one of the boldest and most musical house cuts around today.
after his great set of singles for philpot and clone royal oak last year, arttu comes with his first single for 4lux.yet again arttu brings you the sleaziness he is known for.attic house is a filthy club banger with heavy bassline and cut up vocal bits.gerd re-arranges the track and adds more drama to the strings coming in halfway throughout the track. soul stream is a deeper detroit-ish nugget with nostalgic feel.yet again arttu’s trademark of slamming beats & bass combined with cut-up vocals snippets profide for an insane jackin track.last but not least snuff crew comes with a heavy re-work on attic house that reminds of old dance mania and dbx sound.
amazing collaboration between arttu and detroits jerry the cat. two tracks recorded in spontanious live jams in arttus studio. two tracks that deliver what we like in house music! emotion, passion and fun.. and fun is exactly what these two guys had while recording these two crazy funk driven raw house jams! classic tracks rooted in the best chicago tradition combined with the unique voice of jerry. goose bumps!!!

deo & z-man, the blood-brothers from hamburg, pulled off one of the most creative feats of last year with their debut album, no bullshit , with zero bs but plenty of inspiration, the pair melted together a range of influences with a healthy dose of tongue-in-cheek humour for their underground opus. the remix lp to follow this ep solidifies their commitment to the eclectic, drafting in friends and family like lee burton, erobique and tigerskin to rework the magic.
when san franciscos icee hot launched its own record label last fall with a new record from ghosts on tape (one of the partys founders), there was a lot of talk about how quiet hes been in recent years. now, a mere nine months later, thats all changed

gerd is delivering at the moment! after releases on clone royal oak, philpot, a big re-issue on rejected, great remixes on 4lux and delusions of grandeur its time for him to release on his own 4lux label! a massive chicago influenced track called h.o.u.s.e. featuring the voice of l.b. bad, the prince of dance music. this track was originally penned in 1994 when gerd had elbee over to tour the benelux. the track was released on an obscure limited edition white label only back then, but here a new rework of these old recordings. 2011 sees the track remixed by gerd himself and he takes the tune into rough & uncompromising analogue territory with filthy synth bassline and relentless tr808 action. seriously good track!! jakob korn, arttu and neville watson are on remix duty and deliver some fresh remix that complete this record. recommended!
