derek kaye married his schoolboy passions of music and electronics in 1973 when he constructed his first disco sound system, aged just 13. prior to this, with dj equipment something of a rarity in those days, he created a custom setup that bypassed the need for a mixer by rewiring his turntables in such a way that he could flip the sound from one deck to another, and installed a switch that would dip the music so a microphone from a portable cassette player could be used to announce the song on rotation. his work soon grew in sophistication and a new console was built, with his schoolmate, greg wilson, buying derek s old rig, thus beginning his own well-documented dj career.

30 year old london born ali pearce, aka stealth is a dj/producer that has been on the scene for many years. his diverse style and maturity of sound has seen him successful in many areas of the drum and bass spectrum, achieving releases on some of the industries most respected labels including – v recordings, renegade hardware, subtitles, frequency, intasound and many more… after honing his skills as a teenager on the illegal rave scene in the late 90s, his early days as a dj saw him picked up to be a resident warm up artist for the legendary promotion movement, going on to play at some of londons top nightclubs over the years, as well as abroad, and hosting weekly shows on origin fm. the last few years have been focussed more and more towards his productions, allowing him to cultivate his skills as an artist, and securing dj support of his work from the likes of – andy c, chase and status, subfocus, marky, bailey, bryan g, calyx, teebee, dbridge, break, ulterior motive, zero tolerance and xtrah to name a few! the future definitely looks bright for this budding producer, as 2013 kicks off with an ep due out on subtitles early in the year, as well as material lined up for release on andy cs new imprint program, so keep your ears peeled!

felix bernhardt rounds up the year 2012 with his new ep and the bombing track bruzzelmaschine! the eps tracks are stuffed like a christmasgoose with his trademark sounds and fat beats, to get even the coldest coming days warm and cosy!

as the rumors tell, this obscure piece of music was arranged by three acquaintances, who, by mere coincidence, formed a spontaneous, poly-toxic think tank one marvellous sunday morning, celebrating the beauty of old house music, while at the same time mocking the somehow cheap and predictable functionality of the four to the floor sound design. to honor the inspirational value of situations like these, the decision was made to share the result with a bigger audience. as a meta text, the lyrics form a tongue in cheek comment on nostalgic good old days aesthetics, and are simultaneously, and quite paradoxically, reminiscent of the utopian and transgressive vision of early house and techno music. if there is anything that we can retrieve from this vision today, it is the encouragement to create funny, pleasant and playful situations for ourselves and the like-minded, escaping the seriousness and boredom of the professionalized party and music business. and this is exactly the spirit, which is materialized on this piece of wax.

autumn days are coming quite near and with >jahreszwei< – an ambient tape by berlin based artist the marx trukker – we deliver the soundtrack for that more thoughtful time of the year. as the 4-track ep is put together chronological (starting with the track that was produced last), the a-side is more dark and dusty (roughly produced beginning of autumn with an electric bass, an old portastudio and loads of forbidden recording-techniques) while the b-side shines a bit brighter and lighter (produced digital end of summer, concentrating on the dave smith evolver synthesizer only). so take a walk through a forest next to you and enjoy the beautiful autumn-nature while having >jahreszwei< on your ears!
