180g vinyl! the summer of 2008, the echo inspectors are touring germany. one of their stops lands them in koln, after getting their fix of record shopping at kompakt they would meet up at a local bar with pawas who just remixed their latest record. joining the guys for a mid afternoon beer would be local producer and friend of pawas, adam kroll. fast forward to 2020 and adam would reappear on the radar as adam k.roll with a fresh new dub sound, completely different to the minimal techno records of the mid 2000s. this fresh take on dub would capture the interest of the echo inspectors. many dms later would lead to adam producing five fresh tunes for primary colours. trying to describe adams music is not easy. adam seamlessly blends the sounds of dub techno, ambience, electronica, jamaican dub and an infusion of summer island sounds. primary colours has the honour of re-releasing one of their favourite adam k.roll tunes, into the ocean, initially released digitally on adams on bandcamp page, into the ocean has been reborn on wax. we loved it so much that we got the echo inspectors to remix it into a formidable dub techno groover. kick back, sip on a fine whiskey, light a little number and immerse your aural senses to the sounds of the final call.

repress , unison wax 01 as a whole is an exercise in classy, reduced house for the summer generation. a-side -seize- crashes into force, with unapologetic bass that seems to be breaking at the seams. perfect for building or taking it down, its simple, four-four quality as dusty hats scatter and float around the top. then the keys hit, sizzling and singeing at the edges like they’ve been left on the grill too long, before the whole thing melts into the break. its hot summer garage house for late evening breakdowns. flip it over and the vinyl takes on a distinctive darker flavour. -groundhog- plays smooth, reduced house elements against a driving, deep bassline that rumbles and pushes you on. around that coils softly pulsating synths that swell in and away from you before the tooly, smooth finish reduces to a close. -special treatment- is smoother though. dusty shakers, jacking claps, druggy synths and a rolling, questioning bassline shows a deeper, darker shade of berlin house before it casually pumps its way to the close... and of course vinyl only

german producer and dj boys noize has announced the release of his much-anticipated cover version of adamski and seal’s 1990 rave classic ‘killer’ on 12&#8243, vinyl, via the vinyl factory and boysnoize records. featuring vocalist steven a. clark, the original 12&#8243, version is backed by an instrumental, both of which you can listen to below: as boys noize says: “being a ’90s kid i kind of grew up with this song which later became one of these tunes i’d play out at the end of the night. when i met steven and heard his voice for the first time i immediately thought of that track and the idea of doing a cover version was born. it was initially just for fun but it turned banging and lit the dance floors wherever i’d drop it.” adamski and seal’s original represented something of a breakthrough for both the producer and vocalist, spending four weeks at the top of the uk singles chart in the summer of 1990. speaking to journalist dave simpson in the guardian in 2013 seal explains the impact the song had on his career: “within a week, i went from being a relative nobody – this weird guy at raves, with silver bits in my hair – to a household name.” boys noize’ ‘killer’ is out now on 12&#8243, vinyl, limited to 500 copies.

2lp , full sleeve, as always with hell yeah, the next release comes from an artist label boss marco fell utterly in love with before forming a close musical relationship. his name is calm, and this summer he releases his eighth studio album, by your side. it is an effortlessly evocative long player and magical ten track trip into soothing sonic waters, glistening harmonies and horizontal rhythms. calm is legendary japanese artist fukagawa kiyotaka, someone who has been making deep house, ambient and downtempo grooves since the late nighties, and always teasing spine tingling emotions out of his machines. his last album—2015 s from my window—cast a real spell on marco and encouraged him to reach out. the pair eventually hooked up in tokyo and found real musical kinship while playing records together.
