hello, i am qnete and these are my play-doh stories. some of them are already three years old and it feels like i ve become somewhat of a different person since then. still, i like to listen to them from time to time, thinking of how i was back then, reminding me of what helped shape me, what helped me become who i am now. sometimes, i also get the feeling that it is not me who wrote the stories. they seem to seem unknown to me, just like they seem to you, because you are not me. then i listen, and i know again.
applause, applause! your hands are in chains but you still enjoyed the show. drowned records is bringing you a qnete jam that can be described as nothing else but a psycho banger . included is also a second version of the track, milkshaking the original for a more fruity fun affair. finally, leibniz dark remix is slowing things down a little hitting all drumheads with every extremity and other strange things. clap clap!
if everything suddenly changed – what would that be like?
qnete’s ep is not the question and not the answer. it’s in a hiatus between hopes and fears, still maintaining an eager energy. within a short period of time all tracks were recorded straight to tape, raw and improvised. they remember the sun bath before the storm, when you feel that something is about to roll over you. they express the urge and need to sometimes just jump into the cold water to face what’s coming next. they linger in the nervous energy when you’re lost and don’t know what to expect. but they also talk about the hope of finding a safe place.
qnete steps up for the fifth instalment in the drowned catalogue with three epic, thumping space age club jams. grinding distorted synths, clattering 909 drum work and whining pads all come out to play here forming some almighty floor ready experiments.
qnete joins the lobster theremin gang with a trek through inspired drum machine-based house tracks on this debut white label. channeling the spirit of chicago, detroit and new york in a dash through long-buried catacombs to find the lost pads of yore, qnete imbues his sound with melodies so jacking yet so yearning that they belie his young age and short discography. melancholy moods come and go like waves of a fever, leaving us confused and isolated, yet somehow comforted by the overriding desire and optimism left over. a release for the secret lovers, the lost individuals and anyone who s ever been caught dancing in the dark alone.
after years of travelling, exploring corners and edges of space and mind, it is time to meet on the dancefloor again. the reflections and experience of our environment and our surrounding were the stimulus of our progress and curiosity. this is just another story of grey city life.
the echt walle traxx sound like driving a rented car in the shadow of the tv-tower through bremen-walle, bringing back the empty crates of beer from last night’s outdoor rave, craving for champagne breakfast while being lovesick and exhausted, and it’s raining outside (slightly).
the second instalment from the bremen based drowned records! this various artists ep sees four blistering tracks covering a broad range of styles - the gritty, beat driven drumteror , a clanging house anti-anthem from lem, soft, pad laden journeys from qnete and a straight techno stomper from tobs! an essential release from this fledging imprint, comes in extremely limited copies, with hand screened sleeves!
