faze action records, (far), next release unearths the disco wonder of unreleased music by andromeda orchestra. the lead track has been expertly remixed by legendary dj nick the record, extending the percussion, bass, keyboard sections and then teasing in the vocals towards the end to turn the track into a peak time disco burner which sits comfortably alongside disco old and new. on a2 we have high steppin which see s andromeda orchestra heading for a more stripped down instrumental track, tight percussion and keys drive home another floor filler. b1 we have the original mix of get up & dance, staying true to a classic disco arrangement. with b2 ,andromeda orchestra exit with a more laid back funk/disco groove perfect for the warm up.

london based disco outfit faze action team up with celebrated anglo/brazilian artist, nina miranda for proto house crossover. faze action have always managed to take different musical traditions and blend them to create sounds that are somehow familiar whilst simultaneously containing the unexpected. last year s mangwana, featured long time faze action collaborator, zeke manyika, singing in his native zimbabwean shona over faze action s infectious disco production. this time, british/brazilian singer, artist and all round creative force de majeur, nina miranda, takes things further with her invitation to vamos pintar or let s paint, in portuguese. on the surface there is the familiar faze action restyled proto house but it soon becomes apparent that the brothers have appropriated more than just a brazilian vocal. punchy 808 drums and fizzy synths are infused with brazilian caixa and pandaro as if they had always been designed to co-exist. the remixes come from the illustrious max essa, whose british born/tokyo resident background chimes well with the international nature of this latest offering. his slo-mo bubble dub simmers with mediterranean sun that reclines into romantic piano flourishes and dubbed out vocals, whilst the extended dub manages to draw out the original elements at their original tempo. faze action s own paradise 90 dub closes the package by keeping close to the original arrangement with added economy and plenty of dub delay of course.

in anticipation of this all-new creolian odyssey, strut unleash the opening single, i do believe, a trippy disco stream of consciousness straight from the mind of darnell touching on greek mythology and other fantastical snapshots. alongside the original album with its unmistakeable double harmonies and infectious slap bass groove, the 12 inch features some mouth-watering mixes: brennan green draws on some todd terry techniques for a hypnotic dub, san francisco dj collective 40 thieves (responsible for dance anthem >dont turn it off< on permanent vacation) take the track into chugging electro funk territory, and nu disco pioneers faze action deliver a smacking 4x4 version with an anthemic piano line. the digital release features extra tracks - the faze action dub and the original radio edit of the track co-produced by august darnell and andy butler (of hercules & love affair) and mixed by brennan green.

faze action maintain their fine run of form in 2011 with this four tracker from the shack, aka guy williams and dan williams (not related!) both have been active in dance music from the early 90s, with guy holding dj residencies at clubs such as the ministry of sound and turnmills during their pomp while dan williams aka d.r.w carved a career as a singer/songwriter. together as the shack they have absolutely nailed it with >touch it<, a sleazy-does-it italo peak time jam. arpeggiated synth lines, catchy vocal hooks and instant bassline work in jotous unison with some cowbell carnage. the 12 inch comes replete with a dub version and boogie influence faze action remix. rounding off the release is another original cut, namely >dont stop, in which tough drums combine with a late night vocal intoning the track title to bewitching effect. this shack attack has already found its way into the record bags of pete herbert and severino - expect it to be in many more come summer s end.
