unequal is a label founded by anselm from frankfurt am main in 2015. ranging from deep, spaced out analog techno to more droning, industrial rough sounds, the aim is to give an impression of whats going on in the ffm underground these days. sophisticated broken beats and modular synths are essential for this project. unequal means not to be just one specified style but an open-minded platform to express a diverse view of music within the techno genre. with his first ep called -gral-, anselm delivers some cold, moody techno tracks with spherical soundscapes as an connecting element. the title track on the a side is a journey through wide open extramundane synth layers and bubbling acid drops covered by a voluminous bass. b1 is a bit more conventional one with driving hi-hats and slightly jacking beat whereas b2 is four-to-the-floor trippy stripped-down minimalism for the heads.

nice price deal !!! manchester s techno alchemist and master of the roland tr-808, the enigmatic mr.raw, debuting mancdetroit 12” on win or loose records straight outta toronto ca! long term nightclub shaman on the northwest of england circuit, raw served time in rotterdam s early 90s gabba circles before returning back to manchester to twist brain s n bodies with his wild blend of freestyle techno. raw s witnessed trends in production go from hardware to soft and back again but he s never strayed from a solid rack mount set up based solely around the tr-808. with a few added choice fx processors raw s style is loose n live and captures a pure spirit rarely exercised by today s pacified youth. -perseus dance- sounds like the kind of shit the great ron hardy would jam on, with two copies, for hours. inflicting a sherm-stick flavored mind-blast to the floor that may have indeed caused the good man to blush, we find percolating 808 percussion woven together with a mystic, fizzing lead line and twangy analogue artifacts. darkside acid dragged wailing and whining from rusholmes drains. flip and we have -hard on-: a twisted x-rated porno horror jam. raw s rapid-fire double-speed drum loops firing away while a plethora of abhorrent vox and coital sounds converge onto the track. a total wrecking ball of filth and hellish distortion which just smolders away in the basement of some sadistic nightclub like a rotten but highly intoxicating fungus ready to switch on any passing freaks.

2016 repress - further heat from gay marvine, brightening up every floor with powerful uplifting dj tools, the essence of the heat of the party. this time we have lost disco classic that just gets you burning, the funk of war given the perfect disco treatment, diana giving it to you like only she could (and later michael would, his exact staccato style), and luv tempo of factory favorites who later had a member who completed her phd in the cultural politics of the house music aesthetic in 1995. serious business for any floor!

italian dj and producer manuel fogliata hasnt released a lot of records over the last ten years, but the few he has put out have always been worth tracking down. perhaps best known for his work alongside donato dozzy in creating the much sought-after aquaplano records at the tail end of the last decade, nuels solo outings have been just as consistent and just as impressive.

the first release is coming with 4 high-talented players: skymark, nas1, jose rico and gari romalis. each producer delivers something different on this debut ep, expect crispy acid sketches, running mpc sequences, synths unleashed and a jackin’ low end.

legwork 5 comes from berlin-based bad boy kenneth scott. tonight is a slow building affair with a heavy bass line that weaves its way into your consciousness before opening up for all-out psychological warfare. on the flip the legwork guys speed up the tempo and add steady drum work to give the main loop its just deserts.

miss djax has the tb303 in her dna, that is no surpise! but there is more to discover on her new album flight 303. miss djax blends her musical past with the future and mixes old school sounds with influences from nowadays dance music. to think out of the box has always been her motto. therefore flight 303 cannot be labeled as a typical techno or acid album. and there is even more then just music on this release. exclusively available with the vinyl album of flight 303 is a new miss djax comic by alan oldham. the album + comic is released in a limited edition of 303 copies only and each comic is handnumbered by miss djax herself. the comic has also been animated into an amazing videoclip by vj yzco.

its always been tricky predicting what firecracker recordings will release next, though few would have expected an ep of freestyle, darkside drum machine jazz and percussive drone from berceuse heroique, nous and bedouin regular healing force project. sounding like early 23 skidoo replayed on drum machines and samplers, theres much to admire about the hectic rhythms, foreboding textures and dusty samples at the heart of gravitational lensing. its unclassifiable and completely out there, paranoid, dense and intense, with the fizzing drums, mangled horns and metallic percussion hits of random walks just edging out the experimental jungle-jazz madness of apophenia in the top tracks stakes.

two gold standard musical compositions i wont insult by labelling with a genre. *truth is the key* is one of my favourite tracks period, the arp solo just does it for me in every way. the vocal will be familiar as irene datcher also sang on the james mason lp (who also features on these tracks). *dreamflower* should need no introduction, famously sampled by erykah badus *didnt cha know* and many others. this is a sublime landscape is notable for ryo kawasakis dreamy guitar work, stone cold classic. both sides surprisingly have never graced the 7 inch format until now, absolutely essential 45.
