returning victorious to m-plant after the floorplan album and ep takeover, robert hood, whose work under his own name has continued to garner equal support with the paradygm shift series for dekmantel, brings the heat with this triple-tracker.
following on from the 2017 lp paradygm shift by robert hood released on dekmantel records, the detroit legend returns to the imprint to deliver the final installment in a trilogy of ep releases that initially began back in february 2016. now based in alabama, the detroit-techno producer is returning to his roots. embracing the trademark, minimal, funk techno sounds that defined his earlier career, paradygm shift vol. 3 is classic hood, operating in new, and uncharted ways.
ltd repress !!paradygm shift, the first robert hood album to be released since 2012. a staggering record of techno dynamite sees the detroit legend excelling at what he does best. the record serves as a milestone for the dutch label dekmantel, celebrating its tenth anniversary, with the label’s 50th release

earlier this year, dekmantel announced the signing of robert hood for a new project titled paradygm shift. over the course of three different eps, which will eventually evolve into an album, the detroit but now alabama based legend presents paradygm shift. hood: -the idea behind paradygm shift is similar to a shift in our focus. we can become so complacent, we are so comfortable with our surroundings, i think this is the time for electronic music to find a new mindset volume ii serves up two more killer techno floor bombs by the never disappointing originator. master jack is a classy and deadly effective cut that gets its strength from a simple, yet biting stack of funky chords, while pulsating bass lines and rattling hats are holding it together. more fast-paced action can be found on magnet,a no-nonsense, minimalist stomper you can store in your peak-time section. refined techno action times two, but what did you expect?
(3lp + cd. triple pack with full colour outer & inner sleeves) floorplan is already well known as robert hoods house outlet, which this year evolves into a family affair with co-production alongside his daughter, lyric.

dekmantel is thrilled to announce an exciting new project by the impeccable robert hood. over the course of three different eps and an album, the detroit legend presents paradygm shift. hood: ‘‘the idea behind paradygm shift is similar to a shift in our focus. we can become so complacent, we are so comfortable with our surroundings, i think this is the time for electronic music to find a new mindset.’’ the form lockers ep kicks of the series with great anticipation. two tracks that have ‘rob hood’ written all over it: minimalistic beasts, bursting from energy and meticulously crafted by the hand of a master producer. ‘form’ slowly but surely creeps upon you, a slow starter, but in the end the techno funk-finesse will roar like a detroit car engine. ‘lockers’ follows a slightly more melodic path, keeping the momentum by delivering body shaking, pulsating techno, deep and timeless just the way we like it. it’s a pleasure to present you these two slayers, and there’s more to come.

big tune alert - repress 2018! back in 1996 robert hood presented his floorplan project to the world through m-plant sub-label drama. the only time he really touched up a disco record and what a way to do it! raw and minimal… this has to be one of the funkiest records to have emerged from detroit in the last 15 years. and its unmistakenly robert hood! limited when it came out and deleted ever since

the latest offering from san franciscos icee hot label finds the young imprint officially welcoming another artist to its gradually expanding roster. that said, contakt isnt exactly a stranger. the michigan-reared, new york-based producer is one of the founders and resident djs at brooklyns turrbotax® party, which has long been a sort of sister party to icee hot. contakt has previously released music for respected outposts like local action, grizzly, and dutty artz, but nobody else and tessera 04 find him taking an important step forward as an artist, delivering tunes that are richer and more really realized than anything from his past. particularly on nobody else, contakts flair for big-room melody remains intact, but he takes notes from classic kms, filling out the songs cresting synths with a full-bodied bassline, a hooky vocal sample and a sturdy rhythmic underpinning. tessera 04 goes deeper, channeling maurizio while delving headlong into a dense cloud of synths and maintaining a steady sense of forward momentum. on the flipside, icee hot resident ghosts on tape continues his recent hot streak, infusing nobody else with punchy drumwork and a potent rave sensibility. detroit legend robert hood then rounds out the release, transforming tessera 04 into a pulsing and purring slice of heady analog techno.
