cervo is no stranger to producing high quality dancefloor ready house cuts. released on 13th october, ‘deyo / kasoa’ is no exception to this rule. after a tough period mentally and a formative trip to ghana, cervo combines his love for field recordings with his well known take on the classic house structure. the end result is slighter harder than his previous work but signifies his growth and development as an artist. the lead track, ‘deyo’, starts as it means to go on. straight away the punchy and energetic percussions draws you in and remains captivating for the entire track but it’s the melody that stands out. the sense of urgency is soothed by looping bass and piano riffs, complimenting each other perfectly throughout. ‘kasoa’ is approached differently than the flip ‘deyo’, more care and consideration is taken. it slowly builds up with field recordings as the backdrop providing context before allowing a clear and definitive vibe to be established.

the fifth entry in the chronicles of slyngshot s yappin label is a four track ep, projecting his trademark hybrid style, popping on a low-bit train ride somewhere between the bronx and detroit. new era: slyng s in-house style, dirty percussion, with ailing watery rhodes. of xtc (action mix): a swift take-off, with fazed out keys over a romping kick, swashbuckling high-hat, and an insistent synth bass playing hide and seek, building the tension. of xtc (understatement mix): low end synth lines bop between singing drums, tribal chant and ethereal piano loop. stop playin part i: b-boy vocal sample with pitched up / back down again beats lending the tune a subtle drum and bass feel.

over the course of its 15-year lifespan, truesoul has excelled at giving a platform to the groovier end of the techno spectrum, showcasing releases with everyone from maetrik and cirez d, to hot since 82, reset robot and of course label founder and a&r adam beyer. with his new techno orientated project hyperloop, riva starr becomes the latest esteemed artist to join the label. the lead track resilience is crisp and punchy, and made immediately memorable by the 90s influenced house strings that run throughout. when beyer dropped it during his recent daytime set at sonus festival, it was a stirring highlight. ‘fallen angel is centered around a sublime piano melody and is the kind of composition that was tailored made for a blissful morning set. the vinyl version also comes with an exclusive remix of resilience from terrence parker that is only available on vinyl. offering an effective contrast to the original, man-of-the-moment tiger stripes follows up his excellent body trip ep with a powerful percussive rework of fallen angel , injecting his version with an arabic-flavoured vocal.

reless return to follow up on there first official release which was entitled cycle, out on world talk records that included a bold yet hazy remix from avant techno engineer shlomo.this time their foot firmly in the the mud, is a solid 4 tracks ep entitled, circuitry merging classic techno components which they say focuses on creating analogically modified melodic organisms. the eponymous title track circuitry brings the listener into a field of near moving stabs synths, pulsing through out the persistent motor rhythm. the follow up seed germinates a melodious and deep sequence to sense growth of emotions into the listeners body. reless stand by their motto of always repeating the essential, which can be heard strikingly through out limitation bringing us toward an end of an endlessly metallic grain storage silo. to conclude, the hotly tipped swedish producer kuf (head of arsenik records) pulls apart the harshly stark limitation exploring a rework focusing on the frustrations and jittering nervous pathways of the listener speaking directly to the frontal lobe his job to reside purely at the edge of our mental limitations.

every story has to come to an end at some point. the final chapter of this piece of musical literature is written and wrapped. the third release on het is deliverd by hagen richter. the 4-track-ep has a wide range, which spans from industrial soundscapes, elektrotechnoid tunes up to the classic types of techno vibes. the mutual basis of all cuts is the approach of storytelling, which is the artists goal as a dj as well. future tales are in the making.

optimo music don’t generally do limited edition releases but when the golden filter did these extra mixes of “end of times”, the a1 track off their recent ep we thought they were too good to remain in the digital domain so have pressed up a small run of 12” singles aimed specifically at djs. the original single version is a future synth classic. these new dub versions take it to the dancefloor and have been tried and tested around the world over the last few months. they are considerably extended, dubbed out and add extra dynamics & ecstatic synth power with hints of the original vocal. there is a slo mo version at 103 bpm and a faster version at 118bpm which means the track should work any time from warm up to peak set. there is also a drone-apella version included too.

us producer d’marc cantu needs little introduction in the world of acid house and techno. since the late 2000s he’s been serving us quality musical output on labels like crème organization, m>o>s recordings, nation, altered moods or spectral sound, just to name a few. as well as his solo productions, he’s also one half of 2am/fm unit, alongside tadd mullinix (jtc / dabrye).
using a selection of hardware tools and analogue machines, his rugged sound draws on house, techno, acid, electro and hip hop and features crafty studio skills, knowing sampling and lovable raw aesthetics, defining his own sound that became known as jakbeat.
his latest offering for little beat different is, well, rather different in comparison to his usual club oriented output. it’s not as focused on straightforward dancefloor bangers, (although they are present here too), but features more experimental pieces, suitable for home listening purposes. totalling almost 38 minutes in length, this project has more of an album feel to it than a 12”.

already a regular studio collaborator with richy ahmed, michael jansons aka jansons strikes it solo on the fourth release for richy’s flourishing four thirty two label. the “mode” ep finds jansons following up from recent chart topping original releases and remixes for knee deep in sound, lower east and his “panic at the disco” single on leftroom, which is their best selling single on beatport to date. it’s a bumper 4 track ep, showcasing and encapsulating the many shades of jansons unique sound, and bolstered with a remix from aforementioned collaborator and label boss, richy ahmed. the original mix of “mode” comes correct with plenty of classic house music chops, frenetic synth keys jab away over a rubbery, percussive groove for a sophisticated and energizing club cut, whilst ahmed plumps for a real old skool flavor on his remix. chugging drums and a tight bassline give more than a whiff of classic windy city house vibes on this killer remix. two versions of “colours” are packed with hypnotizing string riffs and bumpin’ percussion, with the “alternative mix” edging it in the more stripped down techno stakes, whilst “sequential” find jansons in disco mood, with rolling drums, string stabs and a deadly bottom end groove that wraps up a fine release from this burgeoning british talent
