TAKE ME HOME (UMAMI,LE PRIX,ARJUNA SCHIKS RMX) (10 INCH)
10" Vinyl D29.05.12
radioblues take me home on fenou no.16 is the sweetest piece of minimalish housy electronica in a long time on this label. as a mere mortal you cannot resist the dreamy voice of sylwia van der wonderland. you just want to fulfil her wish to take her home and get caught up in her world. solely the music itself makes it impossible to leave the dance floor and thats thanks to robert - the rocket scientist - who is the other half of this organic duo. with remixes by umami, arjuna schiks and le prix you can choose from various styles, but when the last beats fade youre almost forced to flip to b side and back to the a and so on and so forth
fenou #8 - dapayk & padberg on fenou - yes! following up their brilliant >black beauty album< on fenous parent label mos ferry in 2007 and the two album remix records last year this is something new, and different. ok, the duo already had a fenou-like moment with the remix of island (feat. caro) by noze. but this a-side >sugar< shows exactly what the genre description cute minimal electronica actually means. its somewhere between clubby, but distinctive electronica beats, a vocal taht reveals a definite pop-appeal and some lounge-like tunes. the b-side >soir< by dredl kibosh is quite different from that. its a deep and relaxing track developing very slowly to leave a feeling of zero gravity in the end. thereby its not as complex as ezekiel honigs seaside pastures pt.1 on fenou06, but continues the laid-back side of fenou in a perfect way. consequently, the fenou no.8 is presented as a limited edition of 10 records
on fenou02 you will find mo s ferry s latest discoveries. on side a the germans >the magician & the scientist< reveal their sensitiveness for beautiful harmonies. their 2001 extended mix shows their fun for experimenting combined with the intuition for cute minimal electronica. on side b the japanese gen henmi a.k.a. piperthehousenail proves his keen sense of experimental breakbeats. rhythm & blues is a fantastic happy tuned track, that absolutely invites to rock
the night is what makes a big city come to life. right after sundown, the hectic buzzing of downtown makes way for adventure playgrounds, bathed in neon light, revealing their countless chances and opportunities. its when youll find the subway spitting out its purpose seeking passengers by the minute. a coming and going of restless people passing through. all it takes is a few hours, before the sunrise makes it all disappear. mental bend captures the magic of that very moment in their dreamy soundtracks. if you close your eyes, you can see blurry pictures passing in slow motion, accompanied by their atmospheric songs. grainy black and white snapshots, fragments of memories lighting up somewhere in the farthest corner of the cortex. one step is the berlin-based indietronica duos visually vivid debut album, released on enfant fenou. mental bend are all about letting go. sissip (voc/synth/bass) and hendrik havekost (beats/production) know how to trust their instincts, crafting their hypnotic signature sound, somewhere in between electronica, ambient and dream pop. before founding the band in 2013, the two were already shaping their skills in all kinds of different formations and styles of music. as soon as they got together, they had a viral mini hit with their song take my hand, praised on various tastemaker blogs and generating over 100.000 likes on soundcloud in no time. the bands first long play record one step is all about important experiences and decisions, small as well as big steps, all a part of making progress, which in the end can even be life changing. it was a step, that recently got mental bend their record deal on mos ferrys sub label enfant fenou.
those looking for a healer, a psychic or a voodoo priest in paris will quickly find one in the suburban districts and satellite towns of the french metropolis along the seine river. here this kind of folk magic has a long tradition. from karaoke to stardom didnt use any dark exotic arts for his second album - still the french electronica producer magically attracts the audience to the dancefloor with his little voodoo dolls!
TO THE MOON AND BACK WITH MR. STYLES (LTD 10 INCH)
10" Vinyl D24.02.15
*to the moon and back* - the a side of this fenou #22 record is taken from douglas greeds *fenou bouquet vol.3* compilation. the b side *mr. styles* is one of the unreleased goodies by dapayk solo and fits this mini compilation just perfectly. as usual the release comes as a 10 inch vinyl release in a limited edition and numbered by hand.
on the a side of their *lovecream ep* schlepp geist & benotmane give a very seductive proposition and at the same time they created an irresistible mantra: *my head is burning, you make my machine clean, my love cream is waiting, so let s become a dream team.* if this is not convincing to move your feet, the b side will do. because here hides the next ear catcher. *stuck in my head* is to be taken literally. simon jinadus fascinating and soulful vocal performance burns itself into your mind with the same strength as on his guest appearance for deep house icon jimpster. as usual *lovecream ep* comes as a 10inch vinyl release in a limited edition and numbered by hand.
after the last singles, fenou presents 20 as a split ep again. the a-side cut is flled with strings and boxers by dapayk solo. built on a gentle but quite hypnotic analog beat, epic strings and harp sounds unfold next to stylistically confdent electronica instruments, which mutually offer space to be returned in the next part.
mooryc simply was the opening track of fenou bouquet vol.2 mix compilation last autumn. the pole whos now living in berlin impresses here especially with the brilliant vocal part. his track is lovingly arranged and embedded in a harmonious sound collage and the underlaid beats try to permeate everyone with their massive drums. stop thinking, let go.. the perfect slowing
fenou no.17 is the first collaboration of powel & lake people aka lake powel. this wonderful symbiosis created two really charming tracks. with its melodious feel of late summer atmosphere these tracks exude charm to unwind and relax, just right for this time of year.
the topic of >salome< fits the two producers kadebostan and laolu from switzerland perfectly. just listen to their prior releases on freude am tanzen, fenou or clap your hands. the melodies sway back and forth - dreamy and full of peace. the rhythm group plays along and only the most necessary things. and even though the vocal phrases retain their own character, they blend into this musical structure as if they were made for these tracks. the a and the b face show a masterly crafted arrangement. it would be a mistake not to listen to the whole, as one would miss the feeling to let yourself go. as usual, the lovingly designed 10inch record is a limited edition and numbered by hand
sebastian russell is one of the most exciting discoveries on mos ferrys decent 10inch label fenou. after his first single release >away< from 2009 the london producer chipped in a remix for dapayks >decade one< album and he also contributed the fantastic piece >follow the lost soul< for the >fenou bouquet vol. 1< label compilation in late 2010. now, he returns with the beautiful 2-track record >far around us< showing his eccentric as well as catchy interpretation of modern house music. the release is extended by three more tracks in the digital bundle including a hypnotizing remix of the title track by alex tomb. as usual, the 10inch record is a limited edition and numbered by hand.
dixie yure is the incarnation of contemporary oldschool house music from seville. after some digital only releases it is about time for some haptic experience. with the 10“ record „show me satisfaction“ on berlin-based label fenou his sound is rotating on turntables for the first time. monotonous minimalism ain’t dixie yures world. the sound tends more towards 2step and builds a homogeneous and pleasant mixture with classical house elements and vocal parts. you just cant deny yourself dancing the >chicken dance< and stepping like hell! thanks to the funky improvisations extending over the whole track you wont get bored even after listening to >show me< for the hundredth time. the a-side is just fun - in the club as well as on your couch. you wont miss the low-pitched vocals on the b-side either as they are typical for the spanish producer. >satisfaction< is a little more reduced than >show me< but is enhanced with jazz elements such as pianos and saxophones. it shows that wind instruments in electronic music dont have to be annoying tribal elements. in this example acoustic instruments do not just get mixed up with house music but merge to one groove – absolutely rocking tune!
marbert rocel is a band and you can hear it! their live performances are more than a normal electronic act. on compost where the first marbert rocel album was released, they already revealed their feeling for emotional house ballads and jazzy sounds. on fenou they follow this way in a more experimental kind of art. marbert rocelÆs cosy sound is perfect for sunny hours or those before
for the second time, kadebostan opens up an oriental sound bazaar on fenou with the souk e.p. and feeds us with musical delicacies. on side a he charms us with a virtuous sounding clarinet like a snake charmer decoys the hissing reptiles from a basket. our hips are swaying softly and smoothly under this hypnosis to a beating rhythm and repeating bass lines. on the flip he reveals the veil and involves us in a world of foreign sounding magical music. it is a miraculous mixture of charming vocals, gently, but firmly beginning rhythm and oriental guitar and piano scales. what remains is a moment of magic.
in a fresh, light and nippy way mr. russell drums us out of the indian summer into the oriental autumn. pipes of pan prance above this cool arab beat and take a rocking guitar line in between. and because germany becomes extremely cold these days, fenou #9 heats up more pressing than its predecessors and warms us on top with a vocal taken from the arabian nights that crackles in our ears. the flip side shows more deepness and blows over a warm breeze of spanish dance air on the guitar. vocals whisper longingly above the drums, engrossed in thought far away at the seaside. with this record autumnal coldness is long forgotten and expelled.
fenou - the sublabel of mos ferry prod. for more experimental tracks between minimal and electronica leaves the path of releasing only minicompilations with fenou05. kadebostans >grand theatre e.p.< is an homage to fantastic voices from a distant place, as it seems. with his first ep on freude am tanzen he already showed that his music is a melange of longingly melodies, melancholic vocals and minimal instrumented electronics
mos ferrys sublabel fenou returns after a one year break with a new limited 10 vinyl edition. the first releases realize collectors price and show a path to a universe of experimental, minimal pop. dapayks >dehalledretro< is probably known as part of his liveset. the calm and reduced, but groovy track emerged from a bunch of loops hes playing with during his performances. its a proof that shows, minimal is not always made of clean, sterile sounds and dry wood-like tones. dredl kiboshs flipside >i found you< is spinning around broken beats and intelligent grooves, beyond the klikkaklakka standards. its a link between four-to-the-floor and downtempo-breakbeat, very soulful
polaris pulsation are maksim s vasilevikis (aka max brannslokker) and aleksander s chernishovs (aka pooka), this russian music project was created in 2000 and on this 10 they shows us their definition of modern electronic music !!
the first subrelease on mo s ferry beautifully sounding and exceptionally nice packlage sublet fenou. the first 10inch starts with dapayk & midnight emergencyone of the most blissful tracks we ve heard in a while. organic and clicking with beautiful vox reminiscent to a man called adams best moments or even the a real underground mix that ebtg would have propably liked to make. uberrocking! flip right over to so inagawa & sakurai , new artists on the block with some excellent sensitive minimal electro frickling that makes this package round and a pure collectores gem
