manana presents a new remix ep bringing together some essential re-works of sound species and ache meyis collaboration recordings. originally recorded in 2016 in santiago de cuba during the lead-up to the manana festival in the city, the original sessions were an inspired fusion of ache meyis deep folkloric afro-cuban styles with sound species subtle electronic touches. the new re-works have attracted some familiar names from clubland: broken beat don ig culture keeps the roots of ogun meyi meyi intact with a bass-heavy, percussive attack brilliant uk drummer and producer tom skinner strips back egrem bata jam on a pulsing new version chicago legend ron trent creates a more melodic dancefloor re-work of alinas calypsos while sound species themselves beef up the original afro-haitian rhythms of the same track for a dubbier treatment.

legwork’s footage series enlists two up-and-comers from the san francisco bay area. sepehr is a regular dj on the sf club and warehouse scene, making waves in early 2018 on the honey soundsystem label. justin lives and works across the bay in oakland, and can be found at many of the same parties. bottom line is you’ll be hearing more from these two in the future. raw detroit-style house is order here, with a remix from legwork hq of justin’s offering.

utopia cloak arrives on film with six track ep, marina gardens. utilising both electronic & acoustic components, the british producer crafts hazy, dynamic electronica with a decidedly emotive bent. the music explores a curious production aesthetic - at once half sunk and at the same time gloriously crisp and direct. caustic drum machine hits underpin the majority of the work, compete with polyrhythmic rolls & glitches, while softly warping synth lines occupy the majority of the remaining sonic space. rather than working explicitly with nostalgia, utopia cloak makes more subtle references to the classic sounds of yore - riffing on downtempo & idm with gentle and considered nuance, eking out arcane hooks & rich melodies with a pleasing focus on compositional structure & songcraft. contrast is the key here, though - and utopia cloak works hard to find the balance between metallic per-cussion strikes and wide-angle instrumental elements, avoiding chaos in favour of a lush, rewarding lis-tening experience.

tokyo prose now returns with his 2nd album on the north quarter. with wild grace the auckland native returns from an extended absence to deliver a masterclass in emotive musical storytelling. the project features some of his most sought-after works and includes vocals from steo, cleveland watkiss and rising star k s r as well as collaborations with race banyon, nether and lsb.

autarkic describe himself as first and foremost a songwriter but he has also made a name for himself as an international dj. over the past three years the musician based in tel aviv has, with great success, played clubs throughout all of europe. one extra memorable gig was on last year’s edition of convenanza in the amphitheatre in sete, france. rumour has it that the sea living mammals of the area flocked in large groups in the waters below during autarkic’s gig. this 12” picture vinyl is his first release on hoga nord rekords and the slightly psychedelic, sample- and synthesiser based club music that has become autarkic’s trademark sound is captured by an impeccable production. the music is playful, yet stripped down to the essentials and not overloaded. the vocal elements works more as percussive elements than the carrier of the storytelling in the music. if you missed him live or just don’t have the means to go see him, this record give a taste of autarkic’s hypnotic live performances!

finally after years of quality techno and music,pushmaster discs is proud to present the 20th release of the label with the label boss mattia trani and his solo ep.
this time mattia chosed a banging tune “time struggle” with the first new school version, classic heavy techno beat with saturated 303 sub melodies and a futuristic pad to complete this version. the old school version is more percussive acidic, no pad melodies, no compromises, just straight to the point for killing every dance floor.
in the b side there’s a perfect rework from a dutch techno master steve rachmad as sterac, more 909 clean beat rhythmic and minimal detroit infected. the last track “floating life” is a typical drum’n’bass spirit influence of mattia, 170 percussive beat with space pads typical of 90 jungle works in the uk.

leonard chin, born in jamaica, started producing music with legends like augustus pablo or horace andy before he moved to london in 1975 and started his santic label. what more can i say reflect this typical 80 s uk soul production, a perfect glimpse of early brit-funk works combining soul, jazzy rhythms, lovers rock, midtempo beats. the song is mainly instrumental and includes sweet background vocals. this timeless hard to find tune finally has it s first time official reissue. here comes official reissue on pépite

after an essential hiatus, 12 inches deep returns with a brand new project. introducing hot dime recordings, house and garage based on a different set of metrics, uk garage. the brainchild of 12id label founder, urbanite, and none other than uk garage legend, karl tuff enuff- brown, of tuff jam fame, hot dime recordings launches an all new, us based uk garage platform, with 2tuf4u vol. 1, a massive compilation hand selected from karls prolific vault of works and collaborations. turn to the a side for a joint effort between karl brown, and fellow ledge, jeremy sylvester, as -tuff asylu with an original, and individual hot mixes. flip to the opposite side for another pair of special hot mixes, this time of the anthill mobs when i think of you, followed by a swinging donk mix from the unmistakable, dem2, to round out the volume. one not to be missed.

phonogramme, the house subdivision of parent label and integral parisian record shop syncrophone dedicates itself directly to the french music scene, with previous releases from the likes of professor inc, john jastszebski, aleqs notal and a handful of other local heads. phonogramme continues to keep things close-to-home through the labels next edition presented by gibs, who s most notably known for works on his own imprint, an.art records – a family run label with music shared by himself and his two brothers. find an oasis kicks off the release with rolling organic percussion before progressing elegantly into layered emotive lead synths and mellow bass stabs. jarkarta is a subdued deeper house cut, filled with an uplifting, undulating melody and raw lo-fi elements collectively creating a luscious calming effect. last up, der germain offers up a fluid, groove filled number balanced with charming, jazzy flutters and tender keys providing a warm, breezy atmosphere to the end the release.

the spanish techno imprint celebrates the release of their first long lenght with this compilation featuring tracks by some of the most prominent underground techno artists among some new talents including works from: christian wünsch, datura dilema, developer, dinamite, kalter ende, stanislav tolkachev, unkle fon and vertical spectrum. the sound palette focuses on danceable numbers, but also include some broken beats and industrial touches showcasing the diversity of their catalogue.

when you think about italian crime movies, one of the first names to get to your mind is probably franco micalizzi, the maestro behind terrific and unforgettable soundtracks like napoli violenta and italia a mano armata. through all is carrier, nonetheless, there’s room also for some less known, but still mentionable works. one of them is hold up, made up of dizzying escapes, funky breakbeat and some less frantic episode.

micalizzi, during the seventies apart from his classic works, has taken part and made the soundtrack also for erotic movies. one of them is adolescenza perversa. the two sexy characters of the movie (femi benussi and marisa longo) move to the rhythm of wonderful orchestrations, beat scratches, persuasive tunes and the funky beat, a real trademark of the roman composer.

nadanna is extremely proud and excited to present tobias bernstrup’s new album “technophobic”. bernstrup who works both as a visual artist and musician has been touring worldwide since the late 1990s and positioned himself as one of the leading re-inventors of italo disco with his unique mix of italo, synthpop and gothic noir. he has created his own unmistakable stage persona wearing androgynous outfits in shiny latex and heavy make-up. tobias has collaborated with seminal artists such as trans-x, apoptygma berzerk, martial canterel, xeno & oaklander, lebanon hanover, and she past away. “technophobic” contains 10 smashing tracks including the recent single “utopia”, and “metropolis of tomorrow” featuring french dark synth wave artist hante. combining influences from classic synthpop, minimal wave, dark wave in a retro futuristic manner tobias bernstrup has created an album reminiscent of the 80s but in a contemporary context of sound landscape.

over the last 4 years, itdr squad explored the whole galaxy to find the mysterious marvin dash. they finally tracked him down and convinced him to join the crew for a 2018 space quest.

part 5 of 5 to be released over the coming couple of months. originally released on the phono label in 1995/96 the ‘parts’ series from matthew herbert are a much loved collection of house tracks that sound just as original and bold today as they did when they were first released. this series of 12”s were part of an early wave of exploratory dance music that paved the way for the deep house that still works its magic on dance-floors in 2018 some 25 years later. the mix of herbert’s playfulness alongside expertly grooving production and unusual sounds makes this unique collection of work. the odd few tracks aside this is the first time that these releases have ever been repressed. all newly remastered for this reissue series, the releases include stone cold club classics such as ‘deeper’, ‘take me back’, ‘resident’, ‘people that make the music’ and ‘see you on monday’.

after many years of steady work bristol-based artist joefarr created a well-respected profile on his own, he is now joining the label showing a side of his works that many never saw probably, and others always knew but never saw on a record. development always takes time, and time is nothing when the art comes out in his true form. this is “dedicate” - a very important record that represents something deeper than a peace of wax, label boss emmanuel took the big responsibility to remix the title track and make his own view of joefarr’s dedication.

falk records will be releasing ‘spaces’ from icelandic experimental producer aaiieenn this august. aaiieenn is the solo project of electronic musician hallmar gauti halldórsson. halldórsson first came to music though being a mover and shaker in iceland’s punk and hardcore scene where he was the “harsh noise guy” with local band distill the world. with aaiieenn however, halldórsson moved away from the guitars and screaming to a fully electronic world of experimental synth music and gorging on the mathematical possibilities and expanses of arpeggio/sequencer driven ambient music. ‘calab-yau’ and ‘continuous property 1’ drip shards of pure crystalline sound into deep crevasses as harmonic droplets ping of gleaming surfaces coated with spongiform bass. the light and effervescent ‘euclidean’ evokes classic ambient works aphex twin, while ‘manifold’ is more direct with a muscular and sturdy bassline. spaces closes with the fluttering and lush ambient sounds of ‘zariksi’ that are carried into the skies by a pulsing and gliding techno beat.

originally released as a limited run cassette on low jacks editons gravats label in 2017, we now get an official vinyl pressing via l.i.e.s. krikor kouchian serves this killer soundtrack to the documentary arabie saoudite: les liaisons dangerousness where the french tv program focuses on the saudi royal familys support of wahhabism and the wests appeasement of saudi foreign policy, kouchian underlines and accentuates the content with a brooding blend of mirage-like electronics and minimalist drum machine geometries. a deviation from his previous works and he moves into appropriately darker synth territory with this one.

this album is a curve ball. mr. g is showcasing some of his deep and sample oriented works on “a part of me vol.2”. a touching collection of tracks taking the listener into the depths of the uk based artist’s perception.

lost in a big bag of cassette tapes in an attic in wales, this archive of works contains 11 original tracks recorded over a 25 year period by dj guy. taken from the original cassettes, remastered and cut to vinyl, they are finally given the release they deserve and are a testament to the talent of one of the uks most gifted producers, cardiff’s guy evans.

tribal pulse is 5 years old, and we re celebrating with a special series of vinyl and compilation releases, and parties in some really insane locations, including a unique birthday celebration in the beautiful highlands of scotland. first up we have boom merchant s i see the future available on 180g vinyl and containing contributions from italian slammin techno kingpin johnny kaos and maltese 303 sniper acidulant. the title track is a morphing, energetic futurist techno cut. a powerful, bass-driven groove works alongside complex analogue percussion sequencing and growling distortion before detroit-style chords and atmospherics move in to take you higher, before slamming you back into the dark groove once again. this one is a real bomb waiting to go off. for sub mission boom merchant combines forces once again with johnny kaos, and in keeping with the theme of the ep, the results are dark, distorted and full of flavor. the track roars through lashings of sub and relentless machine bleeps, drums and noises, jumping in and out of breakbeats with a monster reese bass chasing you down from start to finish. to round off the ep, acidulant does what he does best, stripping the original back to its bare elements, looping the vocal and creating a roland-heavy roller full of squelchy goodness. we see the future, and we are bringing it to you on wax. we hope these tracks put a smile on your face.
