2019 repress with alternate label-art. miami rooted electronica with strong pads, big strings and precise rhythm programming. a powerful record that offers an insight in the early works of seattle based chris roman and his unique twin peaks signature style.
colin potter is a sound engineer and musician currently based in london. he has worked within the fields of electronic and experimental music for over 35 years, collaborating with the likes of current 93, the hafler trio, organum, andrew chalk, and most notably as a key part of nurse with wound alongside steven stapleton. he started the esteemed icr (integrated circuit recordings) label in 1981 releasing a clutch of wonderful home recordings of his own, over half a dozen small run cassette only releases. ‘the where house?’ was recorded in 1981 at ic studio, a converted wash house in sutton on the forest in north yorkshire. the album was self-released on cassette that same year via icr. this expanded double lp edition features all 13 tracks from the original tape on vinyl for the first time plus 4 bonus tracks. ‘the where house?’ is a prime example of early uk post-punk/industrial electronic music. “combining dub, electro, and krautrock rhythms with psychedelic, kosmische noise in multiple mutations ranging from almost pop-wise songcraft to horizon-scanning motorik flights,” says boomkat. most of the damage was done by colin using guitars, synths, sequencers, drum machines, percussion, and modified toy keyboards with fairly primitive 4-track recording equipment. he was assisted on some of the tracks by stephan jadd-parry (guitar, percussions), jon caffery (guitar, bass, e-bow, percussion) and nick jackson (synth). all songs have been remastered for vinyl by george horn at fantasy studios in berkeley. the record is sleeved in a replica of the original cassette artwork by jonathan coleclough. every copy includes a double sided postcard insert with notes from colin.
chris romans has been rolling out crucial electro jams for a number of highly regarded labels since the early 00s. amongst them are touchin bass, shipwrec, frustrated funk and central processing unit, so that tells you everything you need to know about the level he s operating at as 214. now he comes to 20/20 vision with some body-poppin jams of the highest order, broadening the tech house label s remit to embrace the thriving electro scene with one of its most vital practitioners. potential events is a brooding, atmospheric affair while windeye draws on a more playful, detroit indebted palette of sounds. radioactive man remixes windey- with a steady, finely detailed approach, and then back to sine finishes the record off with another snappy salvo of funky drums and bubbling synths.
framed by two spoken word samples and wrapped in house and techno emotions, that know about electro and 90’s electronica too: the new, second album of the leipzig and berlin based producer and live artist martin enke aka lake people moves in a fresh way. this time he shifts towards a focus on the essentials of electronic club music: sounds and groove, rough and playful interweaved with the aesthetic particles of techno. with his “point ep”, released on the berlin based imprint krakatau records in late 2012, his creative life as a producer for melancholic driven club tunes took off. several top notch djs played the tune “point in time”, lake people started to tour world-wide with his mesmerizing live set and produced countless remixes for colleagues from all around the globe. in 2015 he finally released his first album “purposely uncertain field” on the munich based label permanent vacation and delivered eleven tracks at the interface of techno, ambient, experimental and electronic, that bewitch with hymnal chords, yearningly melodies, detailed production, elaborate sound design and an overall introspective, emotive feeling. now, just shortly after he published a fresh ep on the dresden based imprint uncanny valley, lake people drops “phase transition”, a new album consisting of ten haunting tracks full of dance suspense. he recorded all between 2016 and early 2017 on various vintage analog synthesizers, uad and other creative interfaces. to find out if his latest pure slamming tracks work deep, he tried them out during his live shows in order to catch some new ideas directly from the dance floor.
after a string of outstanding releases on some of our favourite electro labels, seattle s chris roman aka 214 joins ranks at lunar disko to present the talus loop ep. 214 has developed into a true master of the atmospheric electro sound, and once again showcases this talent on the talus loop ep. a fusion of intricately textured techno and electro, combined with lush ethereal soundscapes transport the listener to a far away and otherworldly dimension. futuristic hi-tech electro and techno from a producer of the purist form.
and then the log lady said: beauty is in the eye of the beholder. yet there are those who open many eyes. eyes are the mirror of the soul, someone has said. so we look closely at the eyes to see the nature of the soul. sometimes when we see the eyes those horrible times when we see the eyes, eyes that that have no soul then we know a darkness, then we wonder: where is the beauty? there is none if the eyes are soulless.
with releases on frustrated funk, shipwrec and many more discerning imprints - seattle-based electro artist 214 (two fourteen) aka chris roman has made a welcome, if not inevitable debut on cpu - with 4 tracks of icy beats, bass and bleeps, fans of erp and plant43 will relate.
following his acclaimed north bend album of 2015, chris roman, known as 214, is back on shipwrec with the third in their series of single sided odysseys. a haze of bass descends for -i see what you did there-, a clipped drizzle of percussion falls before thick acid bars tremble into position. echoes, reverb and decay merge, groan and bend as the preconceptions of ambient, electro and techno are pulled apart. in one breath dense and complex, the next grooving and future funk dipped. an epic example of 214 s talent. single sided 12- with a silkscreen printed b side. limited to 250 copies on transparant vinyl.
NORTH BEND (2X12 INCH LP, GREEN TRANSPARENT VINYL)
coloured 2x12" Vinyl lp D26.06.15
the album itself features atmospheric techno ambient with scattered beats, lush electro that is filled with true electronic soul and cosmic soundscapes that come from another world. the art that comes with the lp is drawn from the artist s local area, where he takes great inspiration and influence, as he does from his frustrated funk label peers erp, versalife and plant43 to just name a few.
while the drama continues and we keep fighting the demons of our daily struggle,.. a man from another place locked himself down in a black lodge, conceiving new material to share with the world. 214 isnt just a number, its music from an extradimensional place, high up the north bend mountains. frequencies coming from a red room, filled with electronic circuitry parallel connected to our inner soul. lyle at dawn is chris romans third offering for the frustrated funk familia. setting the pace for more to come, as we connect to the shipwrec multiverse for a full album release to follow shortly after this mind bending ep. you have been warned

mugwumps geoffroy and kolombo have been on a continuous roll since we heard them last year on kompakt with their genre defying breakthrough 12inch single >fears inc.<. these belgian sensationalists have had a series of monstrosities including maxis on endless flight, cocoon recordings, gigolo, throne of blood and the hit >everything remains/parser< on the legendary r&s imprint. we missed them and if you can tell from this single, its obvious they did too!
without artwork cover, please welcome frankfurts very own einzelkind as the latest addition to our artist pool. his first single 12inch contribution for cocoon recordings seems to be endless and gets nicely spiced up with hypnotic vocal elements and discoide space sounds. free savioni already made the terrace floor on one of our cocoon ibiza nights move big time. it actually had such a strong impact that we immediately had to sign it after einzelkind played it! aya curanderito on the flip side sounds like a late night party deep in the forest witch trolls dancing around a fire, this is deep shamanic business with a slight villalobos touch (no wonder as the two joined forces before for some other releases already). cool and trippy, something for the long nighs at the infamous robert johnson club or berlins panoramabar. welcome se±or einzelkind!
after his two 7inch releases on star creature, ourra drops an 8 track lp full of lush soundscapes composed of vintage synths and thematic astro vibes. this is true to the modern funk style and movement-a mix of futuristic spaced out deep house and vintaga analog balaeric boogie grooves.

rival consoles is electro acid-smith ryan lee west from leicester. influenced by impressionists like claude debussy and modern electronic artists such as autechre and squarepusher, he created his unique signature. a playful and brutal mix of idm acid beats and warm, emotive synth string arrangements. in february 2017 he released and toured the more quirky vemeer ep under his second musical alias aparatec, which sold like hot cakes and earned him a lot of fans. the 10 inch vinyl includes a download code.

pressing on 180 gram audiophile vinyl.
this is the first time this ground-breaking release has been available on 12inch for four decades. that instantly recognizable bassline, the cosmic guitar and then that vocal / flute combo expansions is one of those glorious jazz funk records that really does expand your mind.
vinyl with blue marble effects in translucent inner sleeve, and includes cd. molecule returns with a new odyssey both physical and musical. following the success of 60°43 nord, his concept debut played, recorded and mixed on a fishing boat during a 34-day journey in the atlantic ocean, the french producer decided this time to take the process further up north and embarked on a voyage to greenland. isolated for five weeks in the small inuit village of tiniteqilaaq, romain delahaye used his survival electrokit to find new sounds in the fjords, the icefields and the hostile yet dazzling landscapes surrounding him. entirely recorded and mixed in this remoted place, the tracks of -22.7°c range from contemplative ambient atmospheres to more upbeat techno blizzards and accurately translate this epic self-reflective adventure across a land of contrast, its abyssal silences, its immaculate glaciers and its blinding whiteness. with ten previously unheard tracks and very enthusiastic early feedbacks from medias internationally, -22.7°c is set to confirm molecules status as a one-of-a-kind producer in todays electro scene.
the original, the inspirational, the bombastic, the never bettered, the one. don t make me wait is all of the above and so much more. classic to the core. huge earth shattering record right here. ok, so the scoop, for the uninitiated is this - the peech boys were larry levan s group, we re talking early 80 s nyc here, 1982 to be precise, around the height of the paradise garage as larry was making the transition from superstar dj to producer. he brought a sparse, dubbed out, narcotic late night feel to the overall sound of this record. this was a short-lived project, but the influence is still felt today, the peech boys dna is inside the veins of modern dance music, as is larry s. there is no underestimating what an impact this record had. 7+ minutes of electronic bliss, trailblazing stuff, and don t get us started on the dub. do yourself a favour, buy this classic if you don t own it already, you ll keep coming back to it time and time again. guaranteed. this essential 12inch is repressed here in it s original 1979 glory, an essential classic that has stood the test of time for the last 30+ years & is now available again, remastered & repressed for 2017 in conjunction with west end records, nyc.
anthony georges patrice is back with a whole ep on lossless and it sounds like an overall artistic start over. fantastic variety on all tracks and he opens a new part in his musical universe with electrofied and africanized tracks...really refreshing and great to play!
finally, the long awaited third part of the extrawelt trilogy on cocoon recordings is on the way, and with this advance 12inch release of fear of an extra planet (blackout) and hail the whale we are given an incredibly strong first impression of extrawelts third album. fear of an extra planet (blackout) in particular, has the potential to become a monumental club hit.
4 super deep cuts for dogmatik, from samu.l which further cement his reputation as an underground heavyweight. king of snakeskin boots is sinewy, muscular, bubbling away, under syncopated drums. title track, new day is classic samu.l with heightened tension and driving kicks. press select drifts along, offering playful melodies and dreamy bass, whilst the valley dub takes us deeper again, riding on shuffling hats, atop a trademark hypnotic samu.l groove.
cocoon recordings presents cor12146, the dignified follow-up 12inch by rico puestel that we were waiting for so long. cocoon head sven võth himself is dropping caravel for quite some time already and the godfather of german techno smashes floors around the globe with this hot and dirty bombshell. take all of the rocking techno ingredients that you loved so much over the last decade and you get a melt down of dustin zahn, industrial strength soundhack and many more milestones to nameà however puestel created a very unique own style out of all these influences and the result is simply outstanding. sven played the acetate of this so often that we even had to cut a second one. techno-trainspotter worldwide went mad for this one and were killing us with their requests and track-id inquiries. the wait is over guys! caravel and est (on the flipside) are two cutting edge techno monsters that hold enough energy to power your car, your computer, your phone, your lifeàwe cannot imagine what rico will show us next
please welcome frankfurts very own einzelkind as the latest addition to our artist pool. his first single 12inch contribution for cocoon recordings seems to be endless and gets nicely spiced up with hypnotic vocal elements and discoide space sounds. free savioni already made the terrace floor on one of our cocoon ibiza nights move big time. it actually had such a strong impact that we immediately had to sign it after einzelkind played it! aya curanderito on the flip side sounds like a late night party deep in the forest witch trolls dancing around a fire, this is deep shamanic business with a slight villalobos touch (no wonder as the two joined forces before for some other releases already). cool and trippy, something for the long nighs at the infamous robert johnson club or berlins panoramabar. welcome se±or einzelkind!
groovin recordings is proud to repress one of the best production from the super-talented singer, producer and composer from chicago, peven everett. originally out in 2007, put your back into it it s definitely one of the song that better shows peven s skills. and if it s not enough, you have a quentin harris remix on the b-side
the cocoon recordings very own inhouse compilation series dots and pearls is back once again and takes us on a tour to the expected sounds of the upcoming spring season. frankfurt based christian burkhardt starts the selection of four exclusive and previously unreleased tracks. his -karambolage- breathes spring air and creates an early summer feeling par excellence. this tune will even turn gray and rainy april weather into bright sunlight. on spot with playful and positive harmonies and a very subtle 80 s synthie-pop flavour. this one here definitely makes us want more! next in line is argy, one of our most long standing cocoon recordings artists. his -how late it was, how late- has an undeniable 80s retro charm, too however it follows a completely different direction than burkhardts -karambolage-. this one refers strongly to an early 80s acid sound and reminds us of great productions such as -on and on- by jesse saunders. we cannot tell how far argy s reminiscences goes back but for the ones who know: -how late it was, how late- will bring you back to the great times of labels like rams horn and their rational youth s -dancing on the berlin- wall. brave and surprising at the same time and above all: -übercool-! with -baroon- by markus fix follows another acid track - however, this one has a far more epic flavour full of warm analogue strings and based on a hypnotic arrangement. fix -baroon- is defintely less retro than argys and burkhardts contributions - a deep tech house gem made for the first sunrises of the upcoming allnighter open airs. with -euphrasia- jim jules accelerates slightly but goes also deeper at the same time. his production follows the cinematic mood of markus fix but paints a darker picture. this one takes us on an intensive musical journey. deep, slightly gloomy and extremely hypnotic, -euphrasia- is almost captivating and bewitching and a perfect conclusion for this highly diversified fourtracker.
