fredfades is a norwegian producer specialising in the uncut raw hip hop. here’s his debut solo album, “warmth”. (vinyl includes download code) in 2013 he dropped a classic with ivan ave called breathe on kingunderground records. warmth is his debut solo album following a long line of singles, collaborative albums, cassettes and load of independently released projects. the album has 16 tracks made from jazz, soul and boogie samples with gritty drums and a dash of synth stabs, mixed by fred and mastered at strype audio in oslo by christian obermayer. the title track warmth is the last track on the album and was sampled from a live recording off one of fred’s favourite jazz records that is always on heavy rotation at the crib. guests at the table include med (stones throw), mndsgn (stones throw), ivan ave, (jakarta), moruf, koreatown oddity (stones throw), chester watson and more.

this limited edition 7 vinyl from mcm, released in conjunction with headcount records is a little slice of history. the former lyricist and front-man of the pioneering uk hip hop crew, caveman delivers two solid joints. caveman was the first uk hip hop group to get signed to a major label and signed to profile records in 1990. the crew quickly established themselves as one of the uks most popular and versatile acts. over 20 years after the first caveman album, mcm is back. the a side cut, r.e.a.l (rhymes equal actual life) is featuring fellow high wycombe emcee c-lone and is produced by rinse dog with the cuts by mr brown. the b-side cut is through and through mcm.

cappo & nappa are announcing a new collaboration and red hot is the first of the releases. red hot is taken from the forthcoming album: rebelbase, which is entirely produced by nappa of phi-life-cypher. the 12 inch contains half vocal tracks and half instrumentals, with a bonus beat and acapella thrown in. there are only 300 copies available.

for ku-023 we wanted to do a something simple with no concept or title, just some solid instrumental beats. mr brown dug through his vast library of beats and he picked out four dusty, boom bap, sample filled productions that perfectly fitted with the concept of the release. there are two beats per side, ‘weathered’ & ‘now see me’ on side a and ‘tiny sunset’ & ‘bluey’ on side b.

fredfades & ivan aves *breathe* ep is available on a limited edition 12 inch of 250 copies with full colour artwork and inner-sleeves. the ep contains 17 tracks all produced by fredfades, some of which were produced on the emu sp-1200 and the others on the akai mpc 2000xl. the a-side are all vocal tracks by the norwegian lyrical genius ivan ave, formerly known as ivan average. the b-side is like a mini madlib *medicine show* with a mesh of fredfades instrumentals, samples and cuts. it is one of those records where you can put the needle on the wax and listen to it the whole way through, with no gaps in between the songs. the song *waiting forever* is featuring kristoffer eikrem on the trumpet, who fred met through a fellow friend/musician, mathias stubø (proviant audio, bbe records) & tarjei, who plays the keys. the song was recorded at norges musikk høyskole / the norwegian music high school.
