originally released as a limited run cassette on low jacks editons gravats label in 2017, we now get an official vinyl pressing via l.i.e.s. krikor kouchian serves this killer soundtrack to the documentary arabie saoudite: les liaisons dangerousness where the french tv program focuses on the saudi royal familys support of wahhabism and the wests appeasement of saudi foreign policy, kouchian underlines and accentuates the content with a brooding blend of mirage-like electronics and minimalist drum machine geometries. a deviation from his previous works and he moves into appropriately darker synth territory with this one.
krikor is back on the label with a new six tracker. following up his pacific alley lp from last year, we now get pacific alley in dub, taking tracks from the lp and re-working with ample echo and new riddims strictly made for the dancefloor. spacious pads and linn drum claps are run through the board as voices ping back and forth in the chamber, equally blissed out and trippy turning these tracks into completely new freaked out compositions. summer jams guaranateed. includes download card.
it was such a hot day in may 2014, we all remember, moscoman drop by his home town of tel aviv to do a party with krikor aka crackboy as his guest, they had a few hours to kill just before the gig, mosco rang up his old compadres and brothers in arms red axes, to see what they were up to, they were just hanging at the studio, “we’re coming” he said, and the rest is history, thanks to the taxi driver abed that was waiting downstairs to take them to the gig, they had vocals to finish this track and mosco had the chance to play this track that night already. powered by a uncompromising mix from no doubt one of the best producers of electronic music, roman flügel, and another killer by red axes, not a lot is left to do but wait for this monster record to drop.
ONZE DANSES POUR COMBATTRE LA MIGRAINE (KRIKOR REMIXES)
12" Vinyl NL05.02.16
originally recorded by marc moulin, vincent kenis and marc hollander in 1977 brussels. leapfrogging over style and genre boundaries, the lp shuffles between improvised jazz, minimalism, imaginary ethnic music, classical and even proto-techno (saure gurke foreshadows characteristic detroit techno riffs by a good ten years). it became a cult album in its own right and a few decades later parisian dj / producer krikor spontaneously decided to rework two tracks for his dj-sets. ensemble brings his remixes with the kind permission of crammed, marc hollander / aksak maboul and krikor.
today, krikors musical style has become more hybrid than ever, a personal synthesis of his musical obsessions : the fat groove and old drum machines of chicago house, the abstract sounds of minimal techno, the urge and energy of rock(abilly), the harshness of industrial music, the dark romantism of folk anti-heroes from the 60s and the forward thinking of grm lab rats (pierre schaeffer, pierre henry..). the result of this synthesis is a first album >land of truth< at last, after 10 years of waiting. its an intimate and ambitious album, bitter and sweet. 11 cinematic songs featuring the voices of krikor himself and also nicolas ker (from poni hoax) on >god will break it all< and >dogs on trial<, chloe (the french dj) on >everything fades< and chloe (the english punkette of battant) on >the times<.
this is the sound of ark and krikor, original and most of all super funky. driven by crazy noises and syncopated, funked-up bassline, arks track >wagon< has got thath touch of prince class that will make you dance. his remix of >1968< turns krikors mad track into a great funk tune. krikors original version of >1968< is rough, edgy and funky with lyrics from romeros >night of the living dead<. his remix of >wagon< adds extra phatness and a great break, without loosing any of the originals funk
denis morin presents working k an experimental skip across the turrets of techno. driving beats form base to a high humidity discussion between heavy ambience, exploratory field recordings and the weirded out whirring of man and machines. working k is meandering, evolving and ever changing. new chapters fold on top of new chapters, fuse into each other and make new pages within themselves.
finally the new offering from remain. follow up to his acclaimed dependance ep, joinning forces with siskid from the initial cuts stable. here youll get two tracks in their original form, along with electro french don krikor remix... as usual with the man, this is simply not to be missed.
this release is a mixture between minimal techno and sweet trancy melodies in the typical david keno style. the stupid, dirty mr. oizo bassline and some kind of rave atmosphere make this track very special and unique. less is not always more. it is time for melodies again... krikor (crack&speed, karat, ark rec) turned the track into a slow and dirty acid groovemonster in his own typical sound.
rmxs by krikor, pep gaya & tomas jirku the eight reference from the klitekture catalogue presents a work from the founder of the label, lod, that comes with a good critics since >sabado gris<, the original composition from this maxi was nominated as best track at the qwartz awards in paris on march of 2006. there is no doubt that we find lod with sabado gris in a great creative moment that he uses to offer a singular and emotive track, that plays with the repetitions of certain structures as well as he does with our emotions, the subtile melodies bring a great amount of serenity to the good listener
finest new minimal bomb by berlin matador toby dreher !! incl great remixes by kombinat 100 (acker rec.), krikor (karat/katapult-paris) and two em vs el locco.. supported by jennifer cardini & m.a.n.d.y
